Spring Shoes in Pastels: Nine West Topshoe Mary Jane peep toe pumps

Wednesday, April 25th, 2012

I’ve been admiring the Nine West Topshoe lately for all of the pretty pastel shades it’s offered in.  Pastels, of course, are very on-trend this spring and when combined with this striking Mary Jane silhouette and contrasting heel and strap, it’s hard not to love this style.  But, if I were to buy it, what would be hard is picking out a favorite hue.  I mean, there’s the pastel green you see above, which is particularly lovely since mint shades have been hot this season, but then there’s also this gorgeous sky blue version (I have a bit of a weakness for this color):

Or a pretty in pink option:

Or a splash of yellow, never a bad thing:

Then again, one could nix the pastels and go with the versatility of black and white, a color combo that’s always hard to resist:

If you’re feeling much more decisive than me about one of these options, you’ll be glad to know about some sales and discounts available.  Nine West has just marked them down from $89 to $69 and they also have free shipping.  Nine West doesn’t have the black and white pair, but Macys has them for $89 and you can get 25% off with coupon code FRIENDS until 4/30/12.  If you need more size options (many are sold out at Nine West), you can also find all of the shades except yellow at Endless for $89.  If you spend over $100 on eligible styles, including this one, you can get 20% off your order using coupon code MOTHER20 through 5/13/12.  Zappos has yellow, blue, and black/white for $89 with free shipping.

Which shade is your fave?

Easter shoes & fun this weekend

Monday, April 9th, 2012

I had a really nice time with my family for Easter this weekend.  On Saturday, my mom, sister, and I went shopping with the goal of outfitting our sweet little girls (my two daughters and niece) in pretty little Easter dresses and shoes, which is always a fun time.  We decided to go to Shoe Carnival to check out the kids shoes since we knew they were having a BOGO sale.  I didn’t really intend to buy myself anything since I was focused on dressing up my girls; however, temptation won out when I spotted the Soda Terani wedges you see me wearing above.  I first saw these online at Tillys last week and really liked them, so when I saw them in person and still felt the same after trying them on, I couldn’t leave them there.

The pink and yellow shades looked very Easter to me, like colors found on dyed eggs or candy, and I added an extra element of colorblocking via sky blue toes.  These shoes are very high, but despite the towering 5.5″ heel, they are surprisingly comfortable.  I found that going half a size up felt better to me when I tried them on in the store, so that’s what I opted to do, although it wasn’t totally necessary.  It just gave me a little extra wiggle room around the front strap area since I have a wider foot.  At $30, these were quite a bargain and they definitely look like they could be higher in price to me (they are even lower online at $24.98).  Plus, since there was a BOGO sale, I scooped up another cute pair for just $12 more (you can see those at the end of the post).  Color me happy. Update: These are also now available at LuLus for $29.

Here are some more pics from our family Easter get-together that I wanted to share:

My daughter had to have these sparkly flats when she saw them.  Yes, she appears to already be taking after me when it comes to shoes!  These are from a brand called Innocence, but I couldn’t locate them online.

This is the beautiful view behind my parent’s house and we enjoyed it while grilling out and egg hunting in the backyard.

My sister got these cute white strappy wedges for her Easter shoes, the Solanz Beezus.  These were $40 in the store, but are on sale for $29.98 online at Shoe Carnival.

My parents always know how to make things special when they have us over for holidays.  The food was amazing and I love my mom’s beautiful table arrangement and deviled egg chicks!

My sweet little niece wore Born flower shoes, similar to the Born Little Flower or Born Dahlia.

This is the other pair I bought, the Y-Not Sure-S in teal.  These wedges were on sale for $24.98 in the store and the price is the same online.  I got them for around $12.50 because of the BOGO offer.

Trying out a bit of pattern mixing with floral and striped denim.

I hope everyone had a happy Easter weekend as well!

Spring shoes that POP in neon

Friday, April 6th, 2012

With all of the bold color we’re seeing this season (which I was just discussing in my multicolor shoes post), it makes perfect sense that neon has once again emerged as a trend for spring and summer.  If you’re a lover of these ultra-bright hues, it’s not that you have to wait for them to be deemed trendy to wear them, but it does mean there are a lot more options to pick from.  And since neon packs a serious punch, a little goes a long way for making a bold statement; thus, wearing a pop of neon with your shoes is a particularly ideal way to apply the trend with ease.  I personally like the look of shoes in neutral shades, like taupe, combined with just enough neon to amp things up, like what you see with the Enzo Angiolini Timga pictured above.  It’s available for $120 at Endless and there’s also a neon pink version with a dark natural upper.  Here are some more of my current faves in fluorescent shades:

Vince Camuto Deric with bright yellow heel for $115 with free shipping at Amazon. Also available at Dillards.

Jessica Simpson Shavon colorblock heels with neon pink for $97.95 with free shipping at OnlineShoes.  Get $20 off $90, which drops the price on these to $77.95, using coupon code 20BLOOM through 4/30/12.

Ann Taylor Cheri in Caliente Coral for $178 at Ann Taylor.  Get 30% off with coupon code SPRING30 (expiration unknown).

Steve Madden Aaria in neon yellow on preorder for $149.95 at Steve Madden.  Coupon code MUSTHAVE25 takes 25% off $150 and gives free shipping through 4/10/12.  A pink version is also available.

Qupid Neutral neon green heels for $26.99 at Tilly’s.

Charlotte Russe neon wedge in pink or yellow on sale for $25 at Charlotte Russe.

Pour La Victoire Taryn in neon yellow for $189.99 with free shipping at Piperlime or $265 with free shipping at Endless.  It also comes in neon pink.

Fergie Protest in green for $69.95 with free shipping at Zappos.  It also comes in pink, yellow, and more color options.

Charlotte Russe neon orange heels for $30 at Charlotte Russe.  These shoes are eligible for their Buy 1, get 2nd for $12.50 promotion, as are these cute neon flats they offer.

Sole Boutique Posh Dynamo neon flats with spikes for $33 at Karmaloop.  They also come in neon yellow for $46. Update: Also available at Urban Originals for $33.50.

Have a fun weekend and a wonderful Easter!

Spring shoes in rainbow multicolor

Thursday, March 29th, 2012

I love how everything is about color, color, color right now when it comes to fashion.  We’ve seen the colorblocking trend enjoy plenty of longevity – it was a hit last spring too and just keeps going – and people have certainly become less afraid of combining color in unexpected ways.  Pastel shoes and pastel colorblocking have also been popular this season, which I can definitely appreciate, but bold color is always a go-to style must in the spring and summer months.  Perhaps because when things start heating up outdoors and everything gets much more colorful around us, our style naturally follows suit.

When it comes to shoes, there are many options out there for wearing a single bold color or even two or three in one pair, but today I’m focusing on the shoes that have at least four or more shades.  You just can’t help but be cheerful when you look at all of these colors playing so nicely together and if it’s extreme color that you crave, they really bring it.  One bold and dramatic example is the Zigi Shoes Sundae (pictured top), a shoe modeled after the Ferragamo Rainbow shoes.  I mentioned these on my Facebook page when LuLus came out with them, but they have since sold out (very quickly, I might add).  They are now available at Karmaloop for $250 and coupon code 10OFF100 takes 10% off $100, which drops them to $225 (exp 3/31/12).  Update: These are once again available at LuLus for $179.  Also at Heels.com for $294.99.

Here are some more multicolor options:

Kate Spade Lindsay for $275 with free shipping at Endless.

Inc International Valencia for $89 at Macys.  Coupon code SHOES takes 15% off 1 pair of shoes, 20% off 2 pairs, or 30% off 3 or more (exp 4/15/12).

Enigma Starlite for $76 with free shipping at Lulus.

Miss L-Fire Chica Chica Boom for $119.99 with free shipping at Heels.com.

Ash Hollywood for $189.95 with free shipping at Solestruck.

N.Y.L.A. Cobain for $117 with free shipping at Lulus.

Jeffrey Campbell Party-2 for $119.95 with free shipping at Envishoes.

Update 2: Another option is the Big Buddha Mojo for $59.95 with free shipping at Shoemall.  Get 20% off with coupon EGGSTRA20 through 4/10/12.

Update 3: Love the United Nude Elastic Remi.  It’s available for $279.95 with free shipping at Solestruck and for $280 with free shipping at Karmaloop.

Update 4: These super-affordable rainbow shoes can be found at GoJane for $33 in black, red, or orange.

Update 5: Here are some cute rainbow flats from Lulus.com, the Bamboo Feeling 03 for $25.

Spring Shoes with bird detail: Miss L-Fire Bluebird & Irregular Choice

Friday, March 23rd, 2012

Spring officially sprung earlier this week and what better way to celebrate the new season than with a pair of bird shoes?  Yes, that’s right, birds on your shoes.  It may not be the first thing to come to mind when you think of how to express yourself shoe-wise this spring and summer, but after I came across a few really cute and whimsical shoes with bird print, it made total sense to me.  I’ve got a little thing for birds anyway, as does my family, so it’s definitely up my alley and a unique twist on shoes for spring – one that you certainly don’t see all that often.

I saw the pair pictured above, the Miss L-Fire Blubird, first at Modcloth listed as the Tweet of Feet shoe and was a bit disappointed that it sold out so quickly (only size 6 left).  I set out to hunt it down somewhere else (maybe “hunt” isn’t the best choice of words, come to think of it) and found them on the UK-based Miss L-Fire website, but they only have a few sizes left on pre-order.  Then I discovered that Heels.com has it in stock, so if you really love the Miss L-Fire Bluebird, you better shake a tail feather because they could go fast.  You can get them for $89.99 with free shipping.

Want more bird shoes?  Irregular Choice has some options too:

Irregular Choice Fresh Cut Grass in red for $120 at Amazon, in black for $154.99 at Modcloth (listed as Dove Actually), or in red, black, or green for $155 at Musthaveshoes.

Irregular Choice Whoopi in blue for $124.95 with free shipping at Lori’s Shoes or in black for $119.95 at Infinity Shoes with free shipping via coupon code ISFREESHIP (limited time offer).

Update: We have another bird print shoe from Iron Fist, the Iron Fist Birds of a Feather for $59.99 with free shipping at Heels.com.

Update 2: I’m loving this bird print option too.  It’s the Irregular Choice Kupcake for $165 at Karmaloop.

While we’re on the topic of Miss L-Fire shoes, I had to mention some more styles from the brand.  These don’t incorporate the bird theme, but they are definitely lots of fun:

Miss L-Fire Chica Chica Boom rainbow wedge for $119.99 with free shipping at Heels.com.  Also available in black and pink.

Miss L-Fire Gabriella for $135.95 with free shipping at Lori’s Shoes.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Spring Shoes from Poetic Licence: Good To Be Bad & A Fling Thing

Friday, March 2nd, 2012

Spring is definitely the best time of year for shoe lovers.  The shoes literally bloom in a variety of colors, shapes, and pretty little details, and you no longer have to worry about pesky, sensible things like bundling up in the cold and covering your toes.  I’m definitely enjoying looking at the new styles coming out and one brand that tends to be particularly on point this time of year is Poetic Licence.  In fact, one style from the brand actually has me coming down with a case of spring fever – it’s that hot!  The Poetic Licence Good To Be Bad (pictured above) has super-pretty teardrop cutout detail around the heel and an extra dose of glam via the sparkly rhinestone flower accent.  I’m partial to the natural version, but it also comes in grey and purple:

Both versions of the Poetic Licence Good To Be Bad are availabe at Endless for $149 with free shipping.

Speaking of Poetic Licence, here is another style I’m finding hard to resist:

Poetic Licence A Fling Thing in red or natural for $149 with free shipping from Endless.  They do floral shoes so well, don’t they?

Have a wonderful weekend!
