Sparkly multicolor shoes from Gianni Bini

Thursday, July 5th, 2012

If the only thing you like better than a mix of bold colors on a pair of shoes is a mix of bold colors with plenty of all-over sparkle, then I’ve got some styles for you.  I noticed the Gianni Bini brand offers some options that provide this look and, what can I say, I love all of the shimmery colorblocking going on, particularly at sub-$100 prices.  Pictured above is the Gianni Bini Jaysie, which is primarily cool in aqua and blue, but has a bit of orange at the bottom of the heel for a dash of warm and all-over jewels for plenty of shine.

If you prefer a sandal version, the Gianni Bini Tiara has a similar mix of colors in a t-strap peep toe style.

Or, get primary in the Gianni Bini Jazlyn, which is covered in rhinestones and red, blue, and yellow colorblocking.  These bring to mind the Giuseppe Zanotti Crystallized Colorblock Platform Slingback, but with a different silhouette.

Each of these shoes is priced at $89.99 and you can find them at Dillards.

4th of July shoes in stars & stripes & red, white & blue

Friday, June 29th, 2012

It’s almost the Fourth of July for those that celebrate here in the U.S. and I think one good way to go all out and put your patriotism on display is wearing shoes with an American flag motif.  That’s why I’ve searched around for styles with good ‘ol stars & stripes and some in red, white, and blue that may not be patterned directly after the flag, but still convey the all American theme.  One option with plenty of patriotic edge is the Iron Fist Allstar (pictured above), which is available at Heels.com for $89.99 with free 2nd day shipping, meaning that there’s still just enough time if to get them by July 3rd as I am writing this now (check the shipping info at the top to get order deadlines).  Let’s check out some more Independence Day themed options:

An ongoing fave, the Irregular Choice Chica Chola with flag detail on sale for $108.95 (regularly $188) at Karmaloop.  Coupon code ALLNEW takes 15% off and gives free shipping on orders over $100 for a limited time.

Karmaloop also has the Jeffrey Campbell Perfect Shoes in Stars and Stripes for $148 (promo codes do not apply).  A couple of more JC styles with flag detail are the Jeffrey Campbell Damsel for $182 and the Jeffrey Campbell Lita for $160.

If you love the Lita, but can’t quite shell out $160, this Lita-a-like might do the trick.  The American Flag Lace-Up Bootie is on sale for $37.95 (regularly $48) at GoJane.  They also have the $35 American Flag T-Strap Platform, which looks much like the Jeffrey Campbell Foxy.

I didn’t know that RuPaul had a shoe line with Iron Fist until I saw the RuPaul’s Drag Race Patriotic Pump, which is $74.99 with free 2nd day shipping at Heels.com.

6pm has the Naughty Monkey Marionette sandal in white, tan, or navy for $48.99 with free standard shipping.

The Naughty Monkey Shine Star is sprinkled with stars all over and available in red, blue, or black for $67.99 with free standard shipping at 6pm.  A similar style is the Star Print Platform Heel in red, blue, or black for $22.40 at GoJane.

I love high heels, but many 4th of July activities require going way more comfy and casual.  That’s why I definitely like these Vintage American Flag Flip Flops for $18.50 at Cafepress.

I was also looking around Etsy for 4th of July shoe clips and came across these Star And Stripes Patriotic Shoe Clips for $40 – are these not fab?

I also love this fun idea: A pair of flip flops with large floral shoe clips, one in red and one in blue. These Flop Toppers are $17 at Etsy.  The 4th of July Perky Bow Shoe Shoe Clip is another cute option I came across for $17 at Etsy.

Of course, if you plan to order anything online for the 4th, be sure to check with the retailer to determine if your order can arrive on time.

I hope everyone has a great holiday!

Shoes that Shine: Summer sandals with the mirror effect

Wednesday, June 13th, 2012

One trend that I’ve been loving this season is the use of super-shiny, metallic detail on shoes, particularly when the shoe is otherwise neutral, but one part is accented with highly reflective metallic material or metal plate detail.  It’s basically like shoes with a pop of color, only with a pop of shine instead, which certainly adds a nice element of flash.  I also find it particularly appros for summer, when the sun is shining and high-gloss shoes reflect that light, creating a modern, oh-so-bright effect.  If you like reflective mirror detail on shoes too, especially at a moderate price point, I’ve rounded up various options that provide the look.  For instance, the Sam Edelman Yelena (pictured above) for $133 with free 2-day shipping at Endless.  You can also shop at Belk to get them on sale for $70 and shipping is free if your order totals $99 or more.  Here are some more:

Aldo Acal on sale for $41.99 (regularly $80) at Aldo.

Vince Camuto Kipton in gold or silver for $118 with free 2-day shipping at Endless.  Also available in both colors for $118 at Dillards.

Sam Edelman Sophie for $119.95 with free 2-day shipping at Endless.

Nine West Wewantit on sale for $59 (regularly $79) in 3 colors and $79 for the gold version at Nine West.  Shipping is free for a limited time.

Steve Madden Whyknot on pre-order for $109.95 at Steve Madden.  Coupon code SMSUMMER15 takes 15% off and gives free shipping (exp. 8/31/12).

Aldo Skillings on sale for $45.49 (regularly $90) at Aldo.

Nine West Cmon on sale for $49 (regularly $89) in 3 color options at Nine West.  Shipping is free for a limited time.

Happy Wednesday!

Tall gladiator sandals worn by Teresa on Real Housewives of New Jersey

Wednesday, June 6th, 2012

In the last episode of The Real Houswives of New Jersey (June 3, 2012), Teresa Giudice wore knee-high gladiator sandals throughout the episode in at least two different styles, as seen in pics from the show above.  It’s a look she clearly embraces and, to me, it makes sense – these are the kind of shoes that give off a bold, warrior vibe, which just might be ideal for braving all the intense family drama going on this season.  I received a request to help find these shoes and although Teresa could very well be wearing a high-end designer version of this type of sandal, I found out on Twitter that she got them at Victoria’s Secret, which bodes well for those of us who can’t spend hundreds or thousands to try out a similar pair.  Victoria’s Secret does have quite a few tall gladiator sandals available now and I don’t know if any of these are the exact style Teresa wore on the show, but they definitely provide the same type of look.  Here are the options:

Colin Stuart Studded Convertible Gladiator Sandal in rose gold or black on sale for $69 (originally $98).  These can be worn with or without the leg straps.

Colin Stuart Gladiator T-Strap Sandal in 2 colors on sale for $79 (originally $98).

Rhinestone Gladiator Sandal on sale for $99 (originally $128).

Fringe Gladiator Sandal in 2 colors on sale for $79 (originally $98).

If you spend over $100 at Victoria’s Secret, coupon code SHIPVS12 will give free shipping through 7/5/12.

Inexpensive shoes with flame detail inspired by Prada

Friday, June 1st, 2012

The Prada flame design shoes have been some of the most highly talked about designer shoe styles of the season, so it’s no surprise to see some lower-priced “inspired-by” versions starting to crop up.  Case in point: The Colorblock Flame Wedges that recently landed over at GoJane.  Of course, these shoes aren’t what you would call knockoffs – there are definitely major differences going on between them and any of the Prada flame shoes, but really you can’t directly compare high end designer styles considered by many to be pieces of art to another style that is so vastly different in price.  That being said, for $30, the GoJane pair is a pretty cool little shoe – and one that most definitely won’t break the bank.  It comes in black and neutral (pictured above), plus blue and red/pink versions.  Let’s check out a few different angles:

The bow also has a flame-like shape and definitely adds a unique touch.

Get the Colorblock Flame Wedge for $30 at GoJane.

Update: Another option with even more dramatic flames is the Sole Boutique Posh Calcifer for $66 from Karmaloop.

Have a great weekend!

Shoes with a Cherry on Top: Miu Miu & Anna Sui for Hush Puppies sandals

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012

The moment I first saw the Miu Miu Cherry Flat (above), I completely lamented the fact that I don’t have $595 to spend on flat sandals with glitter cherries.  But, since I don’t – and they are sold out at this point anyway – I figured I would keep my eyes out for more affordable shoe options with a little cherry action going on.

Luckily I didn’t have to wait long thanks to the collaboration of designer Anna Sui and Hush Puppies.  While I’m not drawing any direct comparison between the Miu Miu pair and the Anna Sui x Hush Puppies Cherry Toe Post Sandal – one is clearly more luxe and extravagant while the other has a more casual, laid-back vibe – I do find the cherry detail on the Hush Puppies pair really fresh and fun.  Plus, at a whopping $500 less, these are cherry shoes I can get excited about the possiblity of actually owning, rather than just pining over a unattainable fantasy style (no matter how fabulous they may be).  You can find the Anna Sui x Hush Puppies Cherry Toe Post Sandal in black at Karmaloop for $95.  They also come in red:

Also very notable is this similarly cherrylicious style from the collection:

This is the Anna Sui x Hush Puppies Cherry Toe Loop and it’s available at hushpuppies.com in blue or white for $95.  Sizes are getting a bit limited, so be sure and check them out – that is, if you’re finding yourself in the mood for a little cherry picking too.

Shoe review of b.o.c Acacia sandals

Tuesday, May 15th, 2012

I did a little shopping over the weekend and decided that I wanted to find myself a cute maxi skirt for the summer months.  So, after picking one out in navy, I naturally came to the conclusion that I needed some new shoes to go with it.  Ok, I wanted some new shoes, but I totally justified it by reminding myself that I need way more flat sandal options in my closet right now.  Pink ones, with big flowers on them.  Thus, I now have my new b.o.c. Acacia shoes and figured I would share my impression of them so far.

I was looking for something to add some bright color and something I could slip on for more casual activities that require a decent amount of walking (like more shopping, perhaps?) and still keep my feet happy.  I’ve always liked the leather flower detail often found on Born and b.o.c shoes, but for whatever reason, I hadn’t ever bought a pair for myself.  Also, while a lot of flat sandals tend to be, well, flat (i.e. basically like walking on a stiff piece of material) and quite narrow, these have a nice amount of cushioning on the insole and the base of the shoe is fairly wide – not super-wide, but should accomodate most feet.  Here’s a little closeup of the insole:

I like the floral pattern and matching pink stitching going on here.  Little extra details like this are always a plus.

So, all in all, I’m definitely enjoying my cute and comfy new sandals and I’m sure they’ll get plenty of use over the summer – primarily for casual days out, but they could just as easily be dressed up a bit for things like going out to dinner, which is where I wore them the first time with my new skirt.  If you’d like to check them out online, DSW has the b.o.c Acacia for $49.95 and, in addition to pink (which is a brighter pink in person than in their picture), there are options for black, white, champagne, and green.
