Message from Princess: Lucky green shoes for St. Patrick’s Day

Monday, March 8th, 2010

With St. Patrick’s Day coming up on March 17, I’ve definitely had green shoes on my mind.  While some people don’t necessarily do anything to celebrate the holiday, I think it’s fun to get in the spirit by wearing something green (plus, you’ll avoid a good pinch by St. Patty’s Day revelers on the prowl for anyone not donning the hue).  There are lots of ways to incorporate green into your wardrobe for the Irish holiday, but let’s face it - it’s a great excuse to wear some fabulous green shoes.  Of course, as an added benefit, you can get plenty of wear from a freshly-picked green pair during spring as well.  Here are some of my favorite green shoes that are sure to bring plenty of luck:

So. cute.  The Harajuku Lovers Avallon for $99.95 with free 2-day shipping at Endless.

Fergie Empower in spinach for $99 at Shoes.com with free shipping.  Apply coupon code MSAVE for 20% off, making them $79.20.  They also come in a lighter shade of green called wheatgrass.

Carlos Santana Glamorous for $55.20 (MSRP $110) at 6pm.

Get a little funky with the Naughty Monkey Knot Sure in green.  The best price is at Amazon for $20-$28 depending on selection, but few sizes are left.  Zappos has them in plenty of sizes for $68.95.

Get even funkier with the Irregular Choice Shimmmy, which will obviously stand out in a major way.  Get these for $120.95 with free 2-day shipping at Endless.

Go for simple and sweet with the Miss Me Monet-5 ankle boot for $39.95 with free shipping from Amazon.

Nine West Beaulah for $83.97 (MSRP $119.95) at 6pm.

The elegant Calvin Klein Daliah for $71 (MSRP $118) at 6pm.

This one strikes me as having a true St. Patty’s Day vibe.  The Carlos Santana Rome for $89 with free shipping at Shoes.com.  Coupon code MSAVE takes them down to $71.20.

Spring-ready: The SM Ven Rosette Wedge in green for $39.95 at DSW.  Take $10 off orders $10 or more with coupon code MARCH10 at checkout (must sign in to use codes), making them $29.95.

Michael Antonio Hagen for $64.95 with free overnight shipping at Endless.

Seychelles Yin for $46 (MSRP $80) at 6pm.

Now, here’s a few of Cheap Chick’s picks for green shoes under $25.  These are all from 6pm:

Steven by Steve Madden Tummble for $22.35 (MSRP $149).

Converse Chuck Taylor Seasonal Hi in green for $23.29 (MSRP $45).

Zigi NY Gemma for $17.98 (MSRP $44.95).

Schutz 31601002 for $17.40 (MSRP $116).

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone and may the luck o’ the cute green shoes be with you.

Naughty Monkey Punkalicious on sale for $44.62 + more Naughty Monkey discounts

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

I mentioned yesterday that one of my favorite shoe brands is Naughty Monkey because they always offer plenty of fun, fashionable shoes with a bit of a quirky edge.  But, like most things, Naughty Monkey shoes are made even more appealing when they go on sale.  That’s why I was glad to see the Naughty Monkey Punkalicious made it over to 6pm, the clearance site for Zappos, and is now marked down to $44.62 (MSRP $85) in your choice of red, navy or black.  Unless you buy the black version either at Endless for $49.90 or at Piperlime for $49.99 with free shipping included (few sizes are left at both), I haven’t seen it sold for less at any other store.  Need more Naughty Monkey shoes on sale?  Check these out:

Naughty Monkey Bada Bing for $31.98 with free shipping at Amazon in most size and color combinations. It comes in grey, black or tan. If your option is $89 at Amazon, try Endless for a price of $43.97 with free shipping or 6pm for $44.62.

Naughty Monkey Clydsdale in blue, black or red for $44.62 (MSRP $84.99) at 6pm.

Naughty Monkey Cinche in tan for $67.13 (MSRP $95.90) at 6pm.  Love the corset-like effect on the back.

Naughty Monkey T-Cup in pink, green, yellow or blue for $31.98 (list $79.95) with free shipping at Amazon.  They have a very Missoni-like pattern.

Naughty Monkey Take Me Out in wine or chocolate (pick your vice) for $44.62 (MSRP $90) at 6pm.

Naughty Monkey My Heart Is Tied for $36.38 (MSRP $79.99) at 6pm.

The expiration for these sale prices, if any, is unknown.

Betsey Johnson Kottes plaid pump for $76.99 at Amazon

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

I love finding a great deal on Betsey Johnson shoes, especially one like the Betsey Johnson Kottes in black.  It’s a mary jane style in schoolgirl plaid, but far from being sweet and innocent.  This is Betsey, after all.  Of course she adds a naughty, rocker chick twist with the super-high heel, large buckle and stud detail, which contrasts so well with the classic print.  To top it off, they are on sale at Amazon, where you can get them for $76.99 - that’s a sweet 60% off their retail price of $190.  Sizes are getting a bit limited, but you can still currently find 6.5-8.5 and shipping is also free.  The sale price expiration, if any, is unknown.

Update: If you are a size 9.5 or 10, get a slightly better price at Lord & Taylor.  They are on clearance for $84.99 and coupon code BIG takes another 25% off.  That makes them $63.74, but shipping is $9.95 extra.  Or, get free shipping if your order is $150 or more.  The coupon expires 2/28/10.

Cheap-A-Thon: Cute brand name shoes for $25 or less

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

Cheap Chick is doing the happy dance because it’s Saturday and we’re finally having a beautiful warm day - a welcome break from the dreary, cold, icy weather that’s been prevalent here lately.  What else makes Cheap Chick happy?  Cute shoes on the cheap, of course.  So, before this little birdie goes outside to do…well, what chicks normally do (flitting around, chirping, pecking for bugs, etc.), she thought she’d round up some of the best brand name shoes for $25 or less.  All of these are offered by 6pm:

Dolce Vita 5125-51 in brown or black for $25 (MSRP $125).  Sizes are getting really limited, so snatch this awesome deal up quick if your size is available.

J.Renee Blaze in white or brown for $21.99 (MSRP $109.95).  Love the bead detail on these.

Hale Bob Cara in black for $19.80 (MSRP $99).

Enzo Angiolini Caitria in black for $17.80 (MSRP $89).

Steven Lalo in black leather and four other color choices for $25 (MSRP $125).  It looks like some of the color options are sold out.

Exchange by Charles David Acrobat in burgundy, black or brown for $15.40 (MSRP $77).

Via Spiga Taunt in brown, white or black for $19.80 (MSRP $99).

Jeffrey Campbell Anne in red, black or purple for $18.60 (MSRP $93).

Matiko Jane studded flat in black or off-white for $18 (MSRP $90).

Chinese Laundry Suzana in tan, brown or black for $14.72 (MSRP $73.60).

Schutz 34901002 in black or tan for $17.94 (MSRP $89.70).

Two Lips Lori in black, bronze, brown or white for $15.18 (MSRP $75.90).

Shipping adds a flat $6.95 to your order.  Please note that availability and prices can change at any time.

Two Lips shoes on sale under $25 at 6pm

Monday, January 25th, 2010

6pm has a new sale for 75% off Two Lips shoes this week and almost all of the 500 shoes currently available are under $25, qualifying them for Cheap Chick status.  With prices starting at $12.75, there’s definitely some great deals to be had, like the Two Lips Miami above for $19.75 (MSRP $79).  I also can’t help but think that the Two Lips Giuseppa below is a fun choice.  We all need a super-sparkly, silver glitter slide-on heel, right?  If so, this particular one is marked down to just $18.74 (MSRP $74.95).

Sale ends 1/29/10.

Shoe Buzz: Shoes from the closets of Kim, Gretchen & Teresa of The Real Housewives on Bravo

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

I’ve definitely developed a serious addiction to The Real Housewives series on Bravo.  It started out innocently enough - I didn’t even watch the first OC season when it originally aired, but started catching up on re-runs and subsequent seasons, then started watching the Atlanta, New York and New Jersey seasons - and now it’s full-blown, can’t miss TV complete with in-between-season withdrawal.  Sure, there are plenty of situations on the show designed for maximum drama - like those frequent get-togethers with the cast, even those that don’t get along, just to see what happens (wig-pulling, table-toppling, that kind of thing) - and the ladies certainly play things up for the camera, but you get the sense that they are being pretty real and they definitely entertain.  Plus, they all love their fashion.  That’s why it was fun to see a recent In Touch article called In Their Closets, which gives a peek into the personal wardrobes of Teresa from New Jersey, Gretchen from Orange County and Kim from Atlanta.  They each have their own unique sense of style, so who do you identify the most with fashion-wise?

I think I’d have to say Gretchen Rossi, whose bubbly, effusive personality has really grown on me this season (lay off already Tamra!).  She describes her look to In Touch as “very girlie-girl, very bedazzled, very glamorous” and she proves her point by wearing a super-sparkly sequined mini dress in magenta, which she calls “fantabulous”.  She wisely pairs it with nude Christian Louboutin heels that are super-sexy, but allow the dress to shine.  They look similar to this pair:

Christian Louboutin Lady Claude in nude for $745 at Saks Fifth Avenue

Here are some lower-priced nude heels:

Nine West Bonfire pump for $88.95 with free overnight shipping at Endless

BCBGirls Ariel for up to $89.95 depending on size selected at Amazon.

Gretchen also holds two of her shoes in the mag and I definitely recognized one of them right away.  It’s this pretty pair:

The Bebe Bella Lace Sandal, which is $149 at Bebe.com.  Buy 1 full-priced item, get 50% off a second item using coupon code GET50OFF until 12/20/09.  Or, get 15% off $100 or more with code 15OFF100 until 12/24/09.

The other pair is a black satin heel with a decorative rhinestone ornament on top.  I’m not sure of the exact pair, but these shoes have a similar look:

Badgley Mischka Elia for $200 with free overnight shipping at Endless.com.

Nine West Fancywork for $89 at Ninewest.com.  Get $20 off $75 with coupon code NWHOLD9 (exp. unknown) and shipping is free.

This pair looks like the shoe version of Gretchen’s sequin dress:

Betsey Johnson Kanata on sale for $152 (reduced from $200) at Zappos with free shipping.

Update: See the pair that looks like Gretchen’s ALDO boots from Watch What Happens Live.

Let’s move on to Teresa Giudice, who shows off a wide array of shoes in her closet.  Teresa has a sophisticated style, but she likes to keep up with the very latest in fashion.  She tells In Touch, “Lots of people buy classic items, and they keep them forever.  But I’m more trendy, so my stuff sometimes goes out of style.”  She also likes to keep things spicy - we see plenty of zebra, leopard and other animal prints in her wardrobe, along with plenty of bold colors and prints.  Here are a few shoes seen in Teresa’s closet:

Christian Louboutin Lace Bootie for $1,785 at Neiman Marcus.  I couldn’t see the back of the shoe, so it could be the leopard Christian Louboutin Bridget for $1,795 at Barney’s (only 1 size 10 left right now).  This is definitely the “it” shoe of the moment.  Update: Check out the Christian Louboutin Bridget lookalike shoe that I found for much less.

Pelle Moda Vino for $180 with $5 shipping at Jildor.

Miss Sixty Callista for $75.60 at 6pm.

Here are some shoes inspired by Teresa’s style:

Sergio Zelcer Covos Peek Toe Pump for $182.95 at Endless

Naughty Monkey Chiller in zebra for $74.90 with free overnight shipping at Endless.

Wet Seal Metallic Pink Heel for $24.50 at Wet Seal.

Two Lips Gypsy Lace Platform Bootie for $69.95 at DSW.  Members use code SNOWMAN at checkout for free shipping on $35.

Last, but certainly not least, is Kim Zolciak, who always goes all out with fashion and prefers a luxe look with plenty of bling and sex appeal.  She tells In Touch that she owns a whopping 1,000 pairs of shoes and that her favorite brand is, not surprisingly, Christian Louboutin.  She says, “They are so uncomfortable, but they’re so hot, so I love them.”  She likes to mix it up with other high-end names too - I spotted the same Louis Vuitton heel that Leighton Meister wore to the Met Ball, another Louis Vuitton tribal-look heel that may be this shoe from Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear, her red and gold feather shoes (I think these are Louboutin, but not sure), the Louboutin glitter heels, and the YSL Tribute Platform Mary Jane, which is not available for sale online, but you can see a pic over at FabSugar.  Clearly, these are amazing shoes, but not readily available at prices most people can afford, so here’s a few “inspired-by” pairs:

Miss Sixty Jessica for $99 with free shipping at Zappos.

Martinez Valero Brit for $148.95 with free overnight shipping at Endless.

Stuart Weitzman Avalon silver glitter heel for $355 at Zappos.

Pleaser Dolly for $39 at Amazon.

I’m looking forward to tonight’s episode, are you?

Betsey Johnson Calandra for $120 at Victoria’s Secret

Friday, November 13th, 2009

Put your feet in a pretty little package with these Betsey Johnson Calandra heels, which feature a silver-trimmed satin bow adornment.

I’d say this pair is definitely prime for holiday party wear, particularly while Victoria’s Secret has them on discount.  They are available in black for $150 and coupon code FALL09 knocks $30 off, making them $120.  The coupon expires 11/18/09.

If you’re looking for the gorgeous silver version instead, try Amazon.  They have them for $130.36 with free shipping.  The black version is $150.

Update 3/3/10: Victoria’s Secret is now sold out, but Amazon still has this pair available for $121.97-$150 depending on size and color selection.  6pm has the silver version for $107.80, but just a few sizes are left.

Shoe Buzz: Steve Madden Korset & Linea Paolo leopard heel on Oprah

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

Oprah Winfrey had a Shoe Intervention special on her show Monday, which aimed to solve some common footwear dilemmas and demonstrate how the right shoes can really make or break your look (something any shoe lover knows all too well!).  I didn’t catch the show, unfortunately, but I’ve been perusing the show recaps and photos on Oprah.com.  One thing that caught my eye is this photo (above), which features the Steve Madden Korset boot.  It’s used as an example in The Hottest Boots of the Season and I think this lady looks absolutely fab wearing them.  While some women in her age group might shy away from a stiletto bootie, this proves you can continue to have a lot of fun with fashion at any stage in life and still look classy and age-appropriate with the right outfit.

If you love the Korset, there’s good news.  Steve Madden just put them on sale for $119.96 (reduced from $149.95) and they are also eligible for their Spend More Save More sale that started today.  That discount takes 15% off $100 or 20% off $150, so this pair is $101.97 at checkout with free shipping.  Update: The Spend More Save More sale is over, but use coupon code SMSAVE15 for 15% off and free shipping until 11/19/09.

Another pair that I noticed was worn in one of the shoe interventions.  This woman has a thing for leopard print, which is great when not in hefty clog form.  They switched her to a sexy leopard heel that I really love, but unfortunately they don’t identify the exact style on Oprah.com.  No worries, I managed to find it:

It’s the Linea Paolo Jenera pump, which can be found at Nordstrom for $119.95.  You also get free shipping on $100 using coupon code HOLIDAY09 at checkout.

You can see all of the shoe interventions from Monday’s show on Oprah.com, plus check out their list of 6 Must-Have Shoes and their picks for Hottest Boots of the Season.

Extra 20% off 2 or more shoes at Heels.com, 30% off 2 at Dereon

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

Heels.com is having their second anniversary and, to celebrate, they’ve issued a coupon code for 20% off any order of two or more shoes.  You enter coupon code 222 at checkout to get the discount.  They have a wide array of drool-worthy pairs to choose from, but I’m really liking the Dereon Tequila for $74.99 and the funky, cool Naughty Monkey Close Connection boot for $149.99.  Bought together, they total $179.98 after code.  Expiration: 11/6/09

If you’d rather get two Dereon shoes, go to the Dereon website instead.  You can get 30% off two or more full-priced shoes during their current sale.  The Dereon Tequila is $70 and the Dereon Lite is $60, but they total $91 when bought together.  The sale ends 11/5/09.

Extra 20% off shoes at Newport News, including sale

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Newport News is offering 20% off coupon code 558 for two days only, which can be applied to regularly-priced and clearance shoes.  This results in some super-low prices, especially since the clearance pairs are virtually all shoes under $20 before the discount.  The Newport News glossy red patent pump (pictured) is $17.99 before coupon and just $14.39 after.  Sizes are limited for many clearance styles, but you can choose your size at the top to see what’s available.

Another pair that caught my eye is this pretty champagne satin pump with rosette detail.  It’s on sale for $49, but you can get it for $39.20 after coupon.

Coupon expires 10/31/09

Sale Spotlight: 30% off select shoes at Bloomingdales

Monday, October 19th, 2009

Bloomingdales is having a Fall Markdowns Sale that takes 30% off select items, including a selection of designer shoes.  There’s over 40 pairs from names like Elizabeth and James, L.A.M.B., Pollini, Corso Como, Marc by Marc Jacobs and more.  A 30% discount takes a pretty hefty chunk off the price tag for shoes in this price range, so I thought I’d turn my handy spotlight on and highlight a few of the deals:

L.A.M.B. Rae Floret Pump for $227.50, discounted $97.50 from the original $325 price

L.A.M.B. Randi Ruffle Peeptoe Pump for $241.50 , discounted $103.50 from the original $345 price
