Ankle Strap

More or Less: Fendi Cinderella knockoff by Colin Stuart

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

You may remember the Spring 2010 Fendi Cinderella (pictured above) as one of the “it” high-end designer styles from last year.  This shoe was worn by a plethora of celebs, including Demi Moore in a Rachel Zoe-styled Harper’s Bazaar shoot and Whitney Port in a promotional photo shoot for MTV’s The City, both of which I posted about here.  Of course, I always try to find similar, lower-priced options for those who want a comparable look, but can’t afford the over-the-top price (plus, these have long since sold out).  At the time I posted about these, I was able to track down scarf shoes with fabric that wraps around the ankle and plenty of shoes with clear lucite heels (you know, the extra sexy ones), but I couldn’t locate a pair that combined both.  But, now we have these:

The Colin Stuart Wrapped Platform Sandal is a lookalike for the Fendi Cinderella, but it’s far less expensive.  Of course, at this price point, the fabric isn’t as luxurious and the platform is definitely a lot lower, but personally I appreciate this detail.  It can be a fine line when wearing clear heels and I feel like the half-inch platform is more subdued and wearable, while still providing the intended effect.  I also like the pretty pink upper on this pair, which is available at Victoria’s Secret for $70 (originally $88).  Additional color options include cream, black or grey and you get free shipping if you spend $100 or more via coupon code SHIPVS11 (exp 5/19/11).

Beautiful Blue Bridal Shoes: Pour La Victoire Cristella, Blissa & Giada

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

I have a lot of people who come to this site looking for blue wedding shoes, plus we had the big royal wedding over the weekend, so I thought today would be a good day to turn the spotlight on some royally blue heels that are perfect for fulfilling the ’something blue’ tradition for brides.  The shoes that have caught my attention lately are from the Pour La Victoire Bridal and Evening collection and, oh my, some of their new styles are absolutely gorgeous.  One of my favorites is the Pour La Victoire Cristella (above), a stunning blue satin heel with bow detail available at Zappos for $159 with free shipping.  If you aren’t looking for blue, you can also get this pair in nude, red or black.  Let’s check out the nude version:

Love this one, but let’s check out another option in blue:

This is the Pour La Victoire Blissa and it’s also available in black or nude, each for $179 with free shipping at Zappos.

I may have saved the best for last, though, the Pour La Victoire Giada in ivory with ruffle detail and large rhinestone embellishments.  This one doesn’t have the blue upper, obviously, but check out the underside:

The sole is entirely in Tiffany-esque blue and has a “Do” written in crystals across the center (I’m assuming the other shoe says “I”).  Too perfect, and you can get it for $159 with free shipping at Zappos.  This style also comes in black or red, but these versions do not have the blue “I Do” sole.

For more options, check out all of the Pour La Victoire bridal shoes at Zappos.

Update: Order from Pourlavictoire.com and you can get $50 off your total via coupon code LAUNCH (expiration unknown).  Here’s a link to their selection of wedding shoes.

Haley wears white flower shoes on American Idol Top 6 results + Lauren’s shoes

Monday, May 2nd, 2011

I’ve been out of commission for several days due to a power outage we experienced in my area after major tornadoes came through the south last week.  Not having power for five days wasn’t exactly fun, but it was definitely a minor inconvenience compared to the devastation many others have dealt with, like the loss of homes and lives.  My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the storms and I’m very relieved and thankful that my loved ones are all safe.  I’m also happy to be up and running here on this shoe blog today so we can talk shoes!  And today we’re talking about American Idol shoes again!  I received a request on Facebook to help find the white shoes with floral detail that Haley Reinhart wore on the American Idol results show this past week (the 4/28/11 episode).  I didn’t see the show, for obvious reasons, but I did find the pictures above at americanidol.com and I did recognize the brand of these shoes immediately, mainly because of the heel:

Irregular Choice has made several different styles with this very cool translucent heel and I found what appears to be the exact pair Haley wore, Irregular Choice Can’t Touch This, at Irregular Choice, where they are available for $129.  I can’t tell if Haley’s shoes have the same all over pattern - they look solid white from the pics - but the stylists at American Idol are known to customize items for use on the show, so that may be the case here.  You can also find this style in beige, black or off white at Amazon for a sale price of $119 with free shipping (note: sale prices are subject to change) or at Akira for $129.90.

Also of note, it looks like Lauren Alaina wore the same Bebe shoes she wore to another results show.  It’s the Bebe Leah cork wedge sandal and it has a removable flower accent, so it appears she decided to go sans bloom this time around.  You can find these shoes in white, black or pink at Bebe for $129.

Yellow shoes Haley wore on American Idol results show + Lea Michele at Coachella

Friday, April 22nd, 2011

I thought Haley Reinhart did an amazing job this week on American Idol with her rendition of Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” and, although she did briefly end up in the bottom three on the 4/21/11 results show, she definitely looked cheerful and bright in her trendy colorblock look.  Haley wore an eclectic color combination consisting of a green skirt, an orange top and bright yellow heels (not to mention a gorgeous necklace).  I found these shoes, which look like a match for the style she wore:

I originally saw the Velvet Angels La Loco in “Sun” at Endless, where they are $294.95 with free 2-day shipping, but the tan/black version is priced lower at $162.22.  Then I found out that 6pm has the yellow pair on supersale for only $112.50 and shipping is also free!  Sweet!  The free shipping offer requires an order of $100 or more and ends 4/24/11.

Speaking of yellow shoes, we saw another notable pair in action on Glee’s Lea Michele.  She attended Coachella recently and E! Online reports that she may have been a bit of a mean girl at the event.  I don’t know what happened there, but I do know she had some cute shoes on.  Like Haley, she incorporated plenty of color with her playful orange and pink jumper paired with yellow wedge shoes.

I recognized her shoes as the Aldo Dyle (mentioned before here) and they are available for $100 at Aldo.  Coupon code 342725694 takes another 10% off for a limited time, making them $90.

Have a great weekend and a wonderful Easter!

Find My Shoes: Christian Louboutin Balota lookalikes + wedding shoes

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011

I recently received a request for help finding shoes similar to the Christian Louboutin Balota (the gorgeous shoe you see pictured above) as well as a few requests for wedding shoe ideas, so I figured today would be a good day for a nice little diversion into the land of fancy footwear.  I don’t personally have an occasion that would call for wearing these kind of dressy shoes in the near future, but I have to admit I love looking at them anyway (eye candy!).  So, whether you need some extra-special shoes for a wedding or another event, or if you just want to window shop like me, here are some pretty little things for your feet:

First we have some sparkly and/or glittery strappy sandals that have a similar look to the $1,095 Louboutin Balota, but are far less expensive:

Steve Madden Aillie glitter sandal in champagne for $79.95 at Steve Madden.  Coupon code rmn15f takes 15% off and applies free shipping, making them $67.96 (expiration unknown).

Nine West Elaine in gold for $79 at Nine West.  Shipping is also free for a limited time.  Note that this shoe is currently on preorder and expected to ship by 5/24/11.

Zigi Soho Gala in beige for $79.95 at DSW.  Members get free shipping on $35 with coupon code SHIPR through 8/15/11.

Michael Antonio Thandie in gold for $44.88 with free 2-day shipping from Endless.

Now, let’s talk bridal shoes.  There are so many styles for brides to choose from and so many color options to consider (not just white these days), so today I’m going to hone in on one particular brand that has really caught my eye lately - Menbur

I love so many of their latest shoes and they are tailor-made for gorgeous bridal style, but you certainly don’t have to be getting married to appreciate this brand.  One standout is the Menbur Casanova (above), a total princess shoe with its sparkling, rhinestone-encrusted ankle wrap.  You can find this style for $220 with free overnight shipping from Endless.  Here are some more options from the same brand, each from Endless:

Menbur Ballesio in nude or black for $234 with free overnight shipping.

Menbur Ceylan in grey, black, stone or champagne for $190 with free overnight shipping.

Menbur Bicci in nude, blue, fuchsia or black for $145.90 with free overnight shipping.

Menbur Curran in fuchsia, red, stone or black for $147.90 with free overnight shipping.

Menbur Carmichael in midnight blue (something blue!), black, nude, turquoise and fuchsia for $164 with free overnight shipping.

Check out all of the Menbur styles at Endless for even more options.  Note that prices and shipping information are subject to change at any time.

Red Hot: Boutique 9 Chichi red espadrille wedge sandals

Monday, April 18th, 2011

It may be Monday and it may be tax deadline day, but we can dance if we want to.  And today, we’re doing the Chi Chi – the Boutique 9 Chichi, that is.  I saw this spicy little number over at Bloomingdales and, although it’s a bit hard to tell from the picture (you have to envision it wrapped around the foot), it appears it would be totally red hot when worn.  And, unbeknownst to me, there’s actually a definition for the word chi chi – at least, according to this free dictionary, which tells me it means “ostentatiously stylish” or “deliberately chic”.  Yeah, I’m down with that.

You can find these shoes in red, grey or black suede at Bloomingdales for $150.

Bling for Spring: Naughty Monkey Shinner & Hollywood

Wednesday, April 13th, 2011

I was just talking about red gingham heels from Naughty Monkey in one of my recent posts, but I had to bring up the brand again today because I’m just loving some of their cute new shoes for spring.  I find that Naughty Monkey always offers fun, playful shoes at affordable price points and, in particular, I’m crushing on the shoes that have the sparkle factor built right in, like the Naughty Monkey Shinner.  The teal and yellow versions give that bright burst of color we crave this time of year, plus they have a mesh, mirrored ankle wrap to add an extra dose of shine.  But, if you’d rather stick with a more neutral color palette for increased versatility, you can also find them in black and grey:

You can find the Naughty Monkey Shinner in grey or black on discount at Shoes.com.  Both are priced at $89 with free shipping, but 20% off coupon code BFF takes your total down to $71.20 (exp 4/30/11).  You can find the teal and yellow pairs, along with grey and black, at Endless or Zappos for $85 with free shipping.

Want more sparkle?  Be sure to check out the Naughty Monkey Hollywood, which has a wedge heel covered in sequins.  I like the silver pair pictured above, which is available at Zappos for $74.99 with free shipping, along with gold, black or navy.  Shoes.com has the navy version for $79 and the coupon listed above drops them to $63.20.  Note that all prices are subject to change.
