Spring shoe trends 2011: Orange shoes

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for things to heat up for spring.  Although it’s still plenty cold outside and will be for quite awhile, I find that just looking at something sizzling hot can help conjure up a feeling of warmth, even if only for a brief minute.  That’s why I’m talking about a fiery new color trend for spring today: orange shoes.  I’ve been noticing a lot of orange around lately, most notably on Drew Barrymore in Jil Sander at a recent Cover Girl party and all over the runways, as seen on SheFinds and The Fashion Spot.  I’ve always loved orange because it’s such a warm hue and, in it’s brightest form, made for super-high visibility.  It also sets off a tan very well, which is always a plus (if you have a tan, that is).  But, generally speaking, it’s probably one of the more under-used colors in fashion, especially for footwear.  If you want to apply this trend to your shoes, which is is a nice way to add a pop of color in this shade without running the risk of orange overload, you might try one of these pairs:

Nine West Playtag for $79 at Nine West.

Charles David Primp for $230 at Endless.

Mojo Moxy Bollywood for $89.95 at Endless.

Seychelles Gypsy for $54.90 at Endless.

Two Lips Ignite for $99.95 at Endless.

Anne Klein Marcella for $39.99 at Shoe Woo with an extra 50% off at checkout (limited sizes, all sales are final).

Update: Here’s another cute orange pair, the Fergie Quilla for $89 with free shipping at Shoes.com.  Coupon code VISA takes 20% off regularly-priced items, making them $71.20 (exp. 6/30/11, may require Visa payment).

Shoe Woo Final Clearance Sale: Extra 50-80% off shoes & boots at checkout

Wednesday, January 5th, 2011

It’s January and ’tis the season for serious shoe bargains while stores clear inventory to make way for spring, so we’re sure to see plenty of steep discounts going on throughout the month (always a good thing for our shoe shopping tendencies).  But, when it comes to sales, there are those that leave you a bit underwhelmed with the prices and then there are those with red-hot, OMG type discounts.  That’s what’s I’m seeing right now over at Shoe Woo, a site that sells Jones Apparel Group shoe brands like Nine West, Rachel Rachel Roy, Enzo Angiolini, Bandolino, Anne Klein and more.  The bad news – for those who shop there – is that the website is closing (store locations will remain open).  The good news?  As a result, they are having a “Crazy Clearance” sale with some drastically reduced prices on their selection of shoes and boots, which get an extra 50-80% off at checkout.  For instance, the Enzo Angiolini Nate boot (pictured above), which has a cuff you can wear up or down, is normally $250 and gets an additional 80% off in-cart for a price of just $50 in black or brown.  Here are some additional styles you might want to check out:

The Nine West Paoletta in black is marked down from $89 to $34.99 and gets another 50% off at checkout, making it $17.49.  A leopard version is also available (almost sold out) for $49.99 and $24.99 in-cart.

The Bandolino Indulge in grey suede, black suede or black leather is $109 and reduced to $21.80 after an 80% off in-cart discount.

The Rachel Roy Wava boot in plaid or black is marked down from $159 to $111.30 and gets another 60% off at checkout, making it $44.52.

The Enzo Angiolini Maiden in black is $99 and gets 70% off in-cart, making it $29.70.

The Joan & David Beesly in black or grey/black is $325 and gets 70% off at checkout, which reduces the price to $97.50.

The Enzo Angiolini Kaiser in taupe or black is $120 and 80% off is taken at checkout, dropping the price to $24.

There are plenty of more shoes and boots to choose from, so be sure to check it out!

Note that each shoe is marked with its eligible discount and all sales are final.  Shipping adds a flat $5 to your order.

Update: I noticed that some of the prices listed here have changed since this was originally posted, so be sure to double-check the current pricing if you plan to make a purchase.

Star Designer: Rachel Rachel Roy shoes

Monday, September 27th, 2010

Rachel Roy is known for the modern, sophisticated and feminine designs found in her high-end Rachel Roy New York line, which has been worn by Michelle Obama, Penelope Cruz, Eva Mendes, Kate Hudson and other notable celebs.  Her diffusion line Rachel Rachel Roy, launched in 2009, takes that same fashion aesthetic and makes it much more accessible and affordable.  I’ve been checking out several new fall styles from the Rachel Roy shoe collection and I’m finding that the unique details on the shoes have made them really stand out for me.  For instance, the Rachel Rachel Roy Kimi pictured below could be dismissed as just another glitter pump, but then you have to get a look at the back:

Take a sparkly shoe and add a geometric, pyramid studded heel and you definitely have something much more distinct.  This pair is priced at $99 and ships by 11/19.

Here are some more styles on my radar:

The Rachel Rachel Roy Keena has a girly, retro glam look, thanks to the floral cluster detail on the side of each shoe.  This style is priced at $150.

If you want to apply the current military trend for fall using shoes, the Rachel Rachel Roy Wava in dark green multi leather (top left) is a great way to do it.  I also love how this same boot changes personalities with the other color options available.  The black mesh version has a rocker-biker chick vibe, while the plaid version is more funky and cool.  Each are priced at $159 and will ship by 10/12.

The Rachel Rachel Roy Kaytee is another shoe that will have you making a statement – while walking away – with its lace-up, corset-like back.  It’s $99 in red, dark taupe or black and they appear to be on backorder at the Rachel Roy site until 12/10, but are also available at Macys and Shoe Woo.

I’m a fan of chain detail, which can be found along the edges of the Rachel Rachel Roy Willie ankle boot, adding a nice dose of edge.  It’s available for $179 in black leather and ships 10/4.

For even more Rachel Rachel Roy shoes, see the Rachel Roy website, Shoe Woo and Macys.  Shoe Woo is currently offering free shipping on any order, Rachel Roy has free shipping on $75 or more and Macys has free shipping on $99 with coupon code HOTLIST (exp. 9/27).
