I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for things to heat up for spring. Although it’s still plenty cold outside and will be for quite awhile, I find that just looking at something sizzling hot can help conjure up a feeling of warmth, even if only for a brief minute. That’s why I’m talking about a fiery new color trend for spring today: orange shoes. I’ve been noticing a lot of orange around lately, most notably on Drew Barrymore in Jil Sander at a recent Cover Girl party and all over the runways, as seen on SheFinds and The Fashion Spot. I’ve always loved orange because it’s such a warm hue and, in it’s brightest form, made for super-high visibility. It also sets off a tan very well, which is always a plus (if you have a tan, that is). But, generally speaking, it’s probably one of the more under-used colors in fashion, especially for footwear. If you want to apply this trend to your shoes, which is is a nice way to add a pop of color in this shade without running the risk of orange overload, you might try one of these pairs:

Nine West Playtag for $79 at Nine West.

Charles David Primp for $230 at Endless.

Mojo Moxy Bollywood for $89.95 at Endless.

Seychelles Gypsy for $54.90 at Endless.

Two Lips Ignite for $99.95 at Endless.

Anne Klein Marcella for $39.99 at Shoe Woo with an extra 50% off at checkout (limited sizes, all sales are final).

Update: Here’s another cute orange pair, the Fergie Quilla for $89 with free shipping at Shoes.com. Coupon code VISA takes 20% off regularly-priced items, making them $71.20 (exp. 6/30/11, may require Visa payment).

I hope everyone had a very happy holiday! I certainly did - one of the very best Christmases ever, actually - and afterwards I realized that all of the holiday wishes I mentioned in my last post actually came true for me! I’m so thankful for that and had to share with you guys. Here’s what I mean:

I mentioned a ”sprinkle of something magical” and I had many moments this year that I would describe in that way. From being treated to an absolutely spectacular firework show at an outdoor Christmas Eve service, to receiving a very special - and sentimental - surprise gift from my hubbie, to watching my little girl’s excitement as she spotted a red flashing light in the night sky on Christmas Eve (and being convinced that this was Rudolph) - these were the moments that I’ll never forget. There was also one more thing:

I mentioned “lots of cozy” with a snowy scene pictured, but I didn’t anticipate that this would happen where I live. We don’t get snow all that often, especially not on Christmas (it hasn’t happened on the 25th in over 20 years to give you an idea). But, we woke up on Christmas Day to discover a total winter wonderland outside of our window (pictured above) and, needless to say, we were giddy with excitement. It was spectacular, completely unexpected and made our day even more special.

The icing on the cake? I got some cute shoes under the tree! My sister, who knows just what a girl wants, got me the purple Nine West Blondie feather heels I mentioned in a previous post. I was beyond thrilled to get these - they are super-hot!! I had to return them for a different size - otherwise I would’ve posted one of my own pics instead of the stock photo - but I’ll have to share some pics in a future post when I get my replacement. I can’t wait to wear these out! A big thanks to my sweet sis!!
If you had some super-special moments this holiday - or some hot shoes as a gift - I’d love to hear about it! Leave a comment here or on Facebook.

Also, I’m taking a bit of a computer vacation this week, so I won’t be posting as often, but I do hope everyone has a very happy New Year!! I’m looking forward to the shoes of 2011!

I love a shoe sale where you can stack discount upon discount, for obvious reasons, and that’s just what we’re seeing over at Nine West. They’ve had an ongoing sale that takes 30% or 50% off select specially-marked shoes and boots, but they’ve upped the ante even more today by offering 50% off your second pair. That’s a lot of savings, particularly on shoes that are already on sale and eligible for the extra 30% or 50% off at checkout and eligible for the BOGO savings when you buy two, plus shipping is free. It may all sound a bit complicated but, no worries, all you have to do is add you favorite styles to your cart and it’s all calculated automatically for you at checkout. Plus, I’ve worked up a couple scenerios to demonstrate the potential savings on some shoes that caught my eye. Let’s check it out:

For a super-low priced option that’s also super-cute, try the Nine West Masqurede, which is on sale for $39.99 (retail $69) and eligible for another 30% off at checkout. That makes it $27.99 and it also comes in solid black and leopard patent.

Add the Nine West Bonfire to your order, which is on sale for $49.99 (retail $89) and also eligible for 30% off - making it $34.99 - and the Masquerade drops to just $13.99. That means you’ll get two classically versatile peep toe pumps in your closet for $48.98 shipped. That’s not bad at all, but you might want to try something even more trendy. Here’s another scenerio:

The Nine West Zizzi has the same classic peep toe pump silhouette as the shoes above, but it grabbed my attention because of its clear upper with sparkle detail. Clear shoes have been around forever - think jellies and those huge clear platform heels that are mostly associated with dancers (of the exotic variety, that is) - but we’ve also seen a lot of high-end designers like Fendi, Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo and Prada experiment with materials like PVC and lucite. It can definitely be hit or miss, but I think in many cases the desired effect is to make the foot look as bare as possible, like it’s just covered in sparkles. We haven’t seen many moderately-priced options to get this effect (for example, the Jimmy Choo Niagra is a whopping $2,495), but the Nine West Zizzi looks like clear done right to me, plus it’s affordable at $79.

I also had to take note of the Nine West Blondie heels because shoes with feather detail aren’t exactly the easiest thing to come across. There was definitely a lot of interest in those red feather Louboutin heels seen on Kim from Bravo’s The Real Housewives, but it’s not something everyone can spend big bucks on to try out. These shoes are on sale for $59.99 (retail $89) and also come in black or green. You get another 30% off at checkout, which drops them to $41.99. Add the Zizzi clear heels to your cart and you can snag them for just $20.99. The price for both is $99.99 shipped.
There are plenty more cute shoes to choose from at great prices, but you’ll have to shake a tail feather. The BOGO sale ends today, 12/15/10.

When it comes to finding the ideal pair of holiday party shoes, it’s hard to go wrong if you treat your feet like you would a exquisitely wrapped gift - i.e. package them in something shiny and top it all off with a big fancy bow. That’s exactly what you can do with the perfectly pretty Boutique 9 Glamy platform pump in black (pictured above), which features a satin upper and a sparkly rhinestone studded bow. In addition to black, it also comes in two metallic color options, each of which are versatile enough to potentially make these your go-to pair for instant, easy glam whenever the situation calls for it this season:

You can get a great deal on these shoes right now at Nine West. They are on sale for $139.99 (regularly $160) and you get an instant 30% off at checkout. Then, apply coupon code NWLOVES to get an additional $25 off $75, which further discounts the price to $72.99 with free shipping. Note: If you prefer a d’orsay version of this shoe with a lower heel and no platform, be sure to check out the Boutique 9 Derry that comes in the same color options. It’s available for $160 and drops to $135 with free shipping after the above coupon.
I also noticed a very similar pair of shoes from Steve Madden:

This is the Steve Madden Minnii slingback bow pump in blush or black and it’s available on preorder at Steve Madden for $129.95. Coupon code Rmn15f takes 15% off and gives free shipping, which reduces the price to $110.46. The expected ship date is 11/25.

I couldn’t resist the Flo Rida reference in the title but, hey, it works when it comes to one of the big shoe trends for fall. Betty Wang, senior buyer of designer shoes at Saks Fifth Avenue, told the New York Times that fur boots are the hottest selling shoes at Saks Fifth Avenue right now, both fur-lined boots and boots with fur on the outside of the shoe. Although she references the pricey Jimmy Choo Yule and the Christian Louboutin Toundra, you can always apply the trend for much, much less. Fur-lined boots are always comfy-cozy, but today’s post is more about form than function; i.e. fur on the outside. I like the Sam Edelman Shalin (pictured above) because it uses quite an extensive amount of fur, but still manages to look sleek and stylish. You can get it at Karmaloop for $200 and apply coupon code SAVE20 for 20% off and free shipping, making them $160. Here’s some more fur styles, at moderate price points, that I’ve been checking out:

The Nine West Priska, a similar, but lower-priced, alternative for the Christian Louboutin Toundra that was also mentioned in a recent Rachel Zoe Report. This pair is available for $149 at Nine West.

The Naughty Monkey D Lux for $79 at Shoes.com and $63.20 after applying coupon code VISA (exp. 2/28/11, may require Visa payment).

The Anne Michelle Savior 56 for $53 at LuLu’s. A more casual option is also available at LuLu’s, the Wanted Tundra for $57.

The Skechers Struts for $79 at Amazon.

The Bearpaw Kaska for $84.99 - $89.95 depending on size/color selection at Amazon.

Dolce Vita Tatum for $240 at Saks Fifth Avenue.

Update: Here’s another one I like, the Aldo Vanderau for $110 at Aldo.
Note that all of the boots pictured here are made of faux fur with the exception of the Dolce Vita pair.
