Bloomingdales

Shoes that WOW from behind

Wednesday, July 11th, 2012

It’s natural to want to put your best fashion details forward, so they can be admired when facing a person, but there’s certainly something to be said for leaving a lasting impression while walking away.  That’s why I tend to like shoes with eye-catching details placed on the back of the heel – the kind of styles that just might have you sauntering away from people way more often, but all in the name of a little harmless showing off.  For instance, we have the Sam Edelman Evan, which is an unassuming closed-toe pump in the front:

But it goes all-out glam in the back with its metallic and studded corset detail.

In addition to the black and gold version, which is available at Revolve Clothing for $150 or at Bloomingdales for the same price, there is also this metallic gold and silver Zinc option (also pictured at very top):

Heels.com has this one for $169.99.

I’ve also been seriously admiring this boot lately, even though I’m so not in fall boot mode yet:

Sure, this one has standout detail in the front in the form of a dramatic spikey collar around the ankle, but it’s also got an interesting element in the back via extra-long fringe:

I’ve always admired the compelling swaying effect this type of fringe makes when the wearer is in motion and the Jeffrey Campbell Amanda Spk can be found at Lori’s Shoes in beige or black for $228.95.

Here’s another one that’s sleek and simple up front:

But there’s a glitter party going on around back (very Miu Miu like, btw).

You can find the Vince Camuto Hariza for $148.95 at Nordstrom.

Finally, we have the Report Signature Targee, which appears to be a tame little nude platform pump:

But it definitely shows its wild side with this fringy mane that runs along the back of the heel:

Oh yes, the element of surprise tends to leave a lasting impression.

These can be found at Lulus for $189.

Hope everyone is having a great week so far!

Find My Shoes: Jimmy Choo Bello look-alike + low heel clear crystal shoes

Friday, March 9th, 2012

Happy Friday to everyone!  Today, I’m talking about two requests I received to help find bridal shoes and, since the inquiries were somewhat similar, I’m going to include them both in one Find My Shoes post.  The first request is for a more affordable version of the gorgeous Jimmy Choo Bello wedge you see pictured above (love!) and the other is for a low-heel, crystal-covered shoe, preferably with a clear upper.  So, I set my sights on some similar options and found some potential pairs.  Let’s dive right in, shall we?

First, we have options for the wedge.  I find that the sparkling, textured upper, the slim silhouette, and the wedge heel (3.5 inches, no high platform) are the three features that stand out most on the Jimmy Choo pair, which are priced at $595 at Nordstrom.  While I didn’t see any lower-priced options with these exact features, I did find shoes that incorporate at least two out of three, so they could be possibilities based on which elements matter most to the wearer.  I think the closest look to the Choos overall is the Butter Calm in silver (above), which is $304 at Amazon.  Here are some more:

Nina Fern for $78.95 at Nordstrom.

Nine West Flax in Light Gold on sale for $58.65 with free shipping at 6pm.

Enzo Angiolini Roxas for $99 at Bloomingdales.

Touch Ups Autumn for $89.95 at Onlineshoes.com.  Coupon code 2WINDY10 takes 10% off regularly-priced items through 3/31/12.

J.Renee Arlinda in silver for $52.11 with free 2-day shipping from Endless.

Lulu Townsend Chic for $49.95 at DSW.

Celeste Marisa-03 for $70.99 with free 2-day shipping from Endless.

If none of these quite fit, perhaps a custom shoe is in order.  The “blank slate” wedge you see above is one style that’s available at Milk & Honey Shoes, a site that offers the option to choose from various shoe styles and add the exact options you want,  such as material, heel height, and more for a price of $275.

Now, we have options for the low-heeled clear shoes with crystals – A Cinderella slipper, you might say, and one that is around two inches or less in the heel.  Here’s what I found:

Lava Melody-3065 for $49.95 or the similar Lava Riviera-3025 for $44.95 at MetallicBridalShoes.com.

Lava Dawn-3095 for $54.95 at MetallicBridalShoes.com.

Cinderella Slippers for $29.95 at Pyramid Collection.

Melissa Ultragirl + J. Maskrey flat for $350 at Endless.

Touch Ups Candy for $74.95 with free shipping at Onlineshoes.com.  Coupon code 2WINDY10 takes 10% off regularly-priced items through 3/31/12.

Steve Madden I-Dreamy for $49.98 at Stevemadden.com.

Another option might be purchasing a completely clear shoe and adding crystals to it, either through a company or individual that provides this type of service or even DIY it if you feel so inclined.  Here are some shoes that could work for this type of scenario:

Touch Ups Cinderella for $55.95 with free shipping at Shoebuy.  Coupon EMLSPRINGAHEAD12 takes 20% off through 3/11/12.

Vaneli Briseis on sale for $36.60 with free shipping at 6pm.

Update – More options I came across:

Express Glitter Open-Toe Midi-Wedge on sale for $34.93 at Express.  I also found a flat clear sandal with rhinestone detail at Aldo, the Aldo Resteika for $40.

Annie Bobby II for $39.95 at DSW.

Update 2: Another option for the Jimmy Choos with similar detail on the upper and a silver metallic heel:

J. Renee Selah for $104.95 at Nordstrom.

Hopefully this helps and thanks for the requests.

Have a great weekend!

Bloomingdales Shoe Sale & Coupon: Discounts on Sam Edelman Lorissa, Aqua Moxie & more

Friday, February 24th, 2012

Bloomingdales has a Fashionable Fundraiser sale going on right now and, of course, I had to check out all of the women’s shoes they have on discount for 20-40% off – and, let me tell you, there are plenty that I’d like to call my own.  One such pair is the Aqua Moxie strappy sandal pictured above, which is exclusive to Bloomingdales.  I’m loving this soft pink and glitter combo and there’s definitely a Miu Miu-esque vibe going on here, but the price is actually quite nice as well.  Normally $110, they are marked down to $77 and coupon code FASHION12 takes another 15% off to drop the price to $65.45.  Or, the code will give you 20% off your order if it’s $300 or more and you pay with a Bloomingdales card.  Note: There is also a black and gold version, but it’s sold out in most sizes.

Here are some more discount possibilities:

The Sam Edelman Lorissa in fresh new shades – aqua, yellow and bright silver for $200 – plus existing fave PINK for $225 – all get a 15% discount via the coupon code.

The Sam Edelman Novato in this cool colorblock version is priced at $100 and falls to $85 after the code.

The Enzo Angiolini Timga is available in muted pastels…

…or a bold pop of neon.  These are $120 and drop to $102 after coupon.  A purple and black version is also available.

There are plenty of more covetable shoe options available, so be sure to check it out.  The sale and coupon both expire 2/26/12 and shipping is free if you spend over $150.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Reunion Shoes – Red heels on Brandi, Gold glitter heels on Adrienne & more

Thursday, February 9th, 2012

We’re right in the midst of an extra juicy reunion for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 2, having finished two parts of the three part special.  The drama on the show was on a rolling boil all season long and, I must say, it was pretty riveting.  After all is said and done, the ladies have plenty of serious issues to hash out on the reunion but I, for one, am here to talk about the shoes.  Yes, there’s never a shortage of hot designer heels on a Housewives reunion, that’s for sure.  That’s why we’re going to check out what they wore and, if your feeling inspired by something you see, but not by an out-of-range price tag, I also found some similar, but much more affordable styles as options for getting the look for less.  Let’s check it out:

On one side of the room at the reunion, we have (from left) Brandi Glanville, Camille Grammar, and Lisa Vanderpump.  They all really brought it in the shoe department, but I have to give props to Brandi for her royal blue strapless dress with bright red pumps – I love the color combination.  I mean, Eddie Cibrian, who?  Looking gorgeous on a hot TV show is the best revenge, I must say.

It’s hard to go wrong with a spicy red heel and it looks like she is wearing this YSL Trib Too in red patent, which can be found at ysl.com for $795.

For a less expensive alternative, try the Audrey Brooke Samantha for $89.95 at DSW.

If you like the combo of red and blue, you’ll appreciate the blue sole on these.

Another option is the Chinese Laundry Whistle in red patent for $69 with free shipping at Endless.  Spend over $100 on eligible styles, including this one, and get 20% off your order in-cart through 2/14/12.

Camille Grammar is going through a situation similar to Brandi’s after ex Kelsey Grammar left her for another woman, but she seems to be doing just fine.  It was said at the reunion that her show got higher ratings than Kelsey’s show (ooh, burn), she has a younger new man in her life, and she looks fab in her red dress and sparkly Christian Louboutin Lady Peep pumps.  The shoes pictured above are the $4,195 crystal version offered at the official Christian Louboutin site.

For something similar, try the Enzo Angiolini Show You for $160 at Bloomingdales.

On to Lisa Vanderpump, who said she was wearing Giuseppe Zanotti when asked about her shoes at the reunion.  She is wearing the Giuseppe Zanotti Crystallized Suede Platform Slingback, available for $1,370 at Neiman Marcus.  These are AH-mazing, but for something less expensive with a similar look, see the Enzos above or this slingback style:

Perugia 12643 for $69.30 with free shipping at Endless.  Spend over $100 on qualifying styles, including this pair, and save 20% at checkout through 2/14/12.

If you love the ultra happy multi-color version of the Zanottis (pictured left) as much as I do, I came across a closer look-alike for that particular style.  The Sole Obsession Berne (pictured right) isn’t dripping in Swarovski and doesn’t have the coveted Giuseppe Zanotti name, but it does have a similar mix of colors with added sparkle via rhinestones and it’s much more affordably priced at $89.95 at DSW.  There is a black/turquoise/purple version available as well.

On to the other side of the room with (from right) Adrienne Maloof, Taylor Armstrong, and Kyle Richards.

Adrienne Maloof is wearing a style from her Adrienne Maloof by Charles Jourdan shoe line.  Adrienne’s shoes were once available only at Issay.com, but they are also now available at Belk, where this particular style is exclusively sold.   It’s the Adrienne Maloof Shaun Pump and you can get it for $235 in gold or black.

Of course, you may also be wondering about the Vander Pump, a style Lisa Vanderpump created with shoe designer Ryan Haber and the pink heels her daughter Pandora wore on her wedding day.  They were available for pre-order back when the season premiered, as discussed here, but I don’t see them available for sale online right now.  However, those interested in this shoe can see the Ryan Haber site for more info.

There was a little controversy at the reunion over Adrienne and Lisa’s respective shoes when it was brought up that Lisa had previously referred to Adrienne’s shoes as “Maloof Hoof” and then she went on to say it meant “fat little shoe”.  Now, perhaps she was trying to be funny and there are certainly bigger issues going on with the cast than this, but I can see why Adrienne would be a bit miffed about it.

Now, if it were these shoes, I’d totally get it.

Ok, moving on to Taylor Armstrong, who is wearing lovely nude mary jane platform pumps that definitely look YSL, but I couldn’t find a pic of the exact pair.  I do, however, have some look-alikes:

Patent Mary Jane Platform Pump at Charlotte Russe for $30, but on sale for $25 for a limited time.

Sergio Zelcer Wood Platform Pump in tan with red sole for $121.88 with free shipping at Endless.  Spend over $100 on qualifying styles, including this pair, and save 20% at checkout through 2/14/12.

Promise Goodness tan mary jane with blue sole for $37 at LuLus.

Finally, we have Kyle Richards wearing those signature studs on the Valentino Rockmance, which is available at Neiman Marcus for $895.  I couldn’t find anything that looks all that close to this pair, but these more affordable shoes have some similar features:

Jeffrey Campbell Midler for $112.95 at Loris Shoes.

Betsey Johnson Majestee for $110.99 with free shipping at Endless.  Spend over $100 on eligible styles, including this one, and get 20% off your order in-cart through 2/14/12.

That’s all I have for now, but looking forward to part 3: Andy’s big talk with Kim.

Fun Shoes for Friday: Sam Edelman Renzo booties with spikes

Friday, June 24th, 2011

Given the ongoing popularity of the Sam Edelman Lorissa, it’s certainly a natural progression to see the style take on a different form.  Going from peep toe pump to closed toe ankle bootie, the spike studded Sam Edelman Renzo will keep it fierce even when the weather cools down later this year.  It’s part of the Sam Edelman Fall 2011 Collection, but available to purchase now in two color options.  We have the “putty” taupe version pictured above, which Bloomingdales offers for $250.  Then we have it in all black:

This one is also available at Bloomingdales, but if you’re going to pay full price to get a jump on this style, you might want to check it out at Endless instead.  They currently offer the black pair only and it’s $250 as well, but also includes free overnight shipping.

I heart the Renzo, but given that I’m still basking in the glow of my newly acquired pink Lorissas, I probably won’t be splurging on a pair in the near future.  But, even though the price is higher than the Lorissa, having the Renzo in boot form will probably negate that Lorissa heel slippage problem I’ve seen a few reports of.  I may get the chance to test this out for myself when I wear my Lorissas out for the first time tonight (on a hot date with the hubby!).  That is, if it would only stop raining *fingers crossed*.  Update: I did wear them out – see a review in the update here.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Memorial Day shoes sales & coupons 2011

Friday, May 27th, 2011

If there’s one thing you can be assured of on Memorial Day weekend, it’s that there WILL be sales…and lots of them.  If your holiday activities include a little shoe shopping, you’ll probably want to know which stores are offering the best discounts so you can get your savings on.  That’s why I’ve rounded up a great big list of sales and coupons that’ll knock a nice chunk of change off your shoe purchase, making both your feet and your wallet happy.  Here’s the rundown of what I’ve seen so far:

Pour La Victoire recently launched their own online store and I received word from a company rep that coupon code LAUNCH will take an additional $50 off any order (expiration unknown).  While not specifically for Memorial Day, it’s still a sweet discount on must-haves like the Irina and their selection of bridal shoes.  Shipping is also free.

Aldo takes an additional 30% off women’s sale sandals (discount reflected in product price), but you can also apply coupon code GLAMOUR to get another 15% off at checkout.

Endless offers an extra 20% off select women’s shoes.  The discount is applied at checkout for all eligible items.

American Eagle takes another 30% off and applies free shipping when you apply coupon code 82934281 at checkout.  Use the code on their regularly-priced footwear or save even more on clearance shoes.

Macy’s reduces the prices on clearance shoes by 25% (prices reflect discount) and you also get another 10% off at checkout.  Items eligible for the extra discount are marked.

Bloomingdales is having a Big Brown Bag Sale that takes 25-40% off select styles and coupon code BIGSALE takes another 20% off these sale items.

Reebok takes another 40% off sale items when you apply coupon code SALE40 at checkout.

Payless has you paying less with 20% off coupon 47010 at checkout.

Famous Footwear offers coupon code FAMOUS20 for an extra 20% off your order.

Shoes.com has coupon code SECRET20 that gives an extra 20% off regular or sale items through 5/31/11.

Bakers Shoes offers free shipping with no minimum on any order.

Lord & Taylor takes another 20% off sale and clearance items when coupon HOLIDAY is applied at checkout.

Shoemall reduces regularly-priced items by 20% when MEMORIAL is entered at checkout.

Nine West takes up to 60% off select shoes during their latest sale and shipping is free on $75 or more.

Shoe Steal takes another 20% off orders when coupon code STEAL20 is applied at checkout through 5/31/11.

Unless otherwise noted, these offers expire on 5/30/11 and are subject to change.  Exclusions may apply.

Have a fabulous Memorial Day weekend!!

Red Hot: Boutique 9 Chichi red espadrille wedge sandals

Monday, April 18th, 2011

It may be Monday and it may be tax deadline day, but we can dance if we want to.  And today, we’re doing the Chi Chi — the Boutique 9 Chichi, that is.  I saw this spicy little number over at Bloomingdales and, although it’s a bit hard to tell from the picture (you have to envision it wrapped around the foot), it appears it would be totally red hot when worn.  And, unbeknownst to me, there’s actually a definition for the word chi chi — at least, according to this free dictionary, which tells me it means “ostentatiously stylish” or “deliberately chic”.  Yeah, I’m down with that.

You can find these shoes in red, grey or black suede at Bloomingdales for $150.
