4th of July shoes in stars & stripes & red, white & blue

Friday, June 29th, 2012

It’s almost the Fourth of July for those that celebrate here in the U.S. and I think one good way to go all out and put your patriotism on display is wearing shoes with an American flag motif.  That’s why I’ve searched around for styles with good ‘ol stars & stripes and some in red, white, and blue that may not be patterned directly after the flag, but still convey the all American theme.  One option with plenty of patriotic edge is the Iron Fist Allstar (pictured above), which is available at Heels.com for $89.99 with free 2nd day shipping, meaning that there’s still just enough time if to get them by July 3rd as I am writing this now (check the shipping info at the top to get order deadlines).  Let’s check out some more Independence Day themed options:

An ongoing fave, the Irregular Choice Chica Chola with flag detail on sale for $108.95 (regularly $188) at Karmaloop.  Coupon code ALLNEW takes 15% off and gives free shipping on orders over $100 for a limited time.

Karmaloop also has the Jeffrey Campbell Perfect Shoes in Stars and Stripes for $148 (promo codes do not apply).  A couple of more JC styles with flag detail are the Jeffrey Campbell Damsel for $182 and the Jeffrey Campbell Lita for $160.

If you love the Lita, but can’t quite shell out $160, this Lita-a-like might do the trick.  The American Flag Lace-Up Bootie is on sale for $37.95 (regularly $48) at GoJane.  They also have the $35 American Flag T-Strap Platform, which looks much like the Jeffrey Campbell Foxy.

I didn’t know that RuPaul had a shoe line with Iron Fist until I saw the RuPaul’s Drag Race Patriotic Pump, which is $74.99 with free 2nd day shipping at Heels.com.

6pm has the Naughty Monkey Marionette sandal in white, tan, or navy for $48.99 with free standard shipping.

The Naughty Monkey Shine Star is sprinkled with stars all over and available in red, blue, or black for $67.99 with free standard shipping at 6pm.  A similar style is the Star Print Platform Heel in red, blue, or black for $22.40 at GoJane.

I love high heels, but many 4th of July activities require going way more comfy and casual.  That’s why I definitely like these Vintage American Flag Flip Flops for $18.50 at Cafepress.

I was also looking around Etsy for 4th of July shoe clips and came across these Star And Stripes Patriotic Shoe Clips for $40 – are these not fab?

I also love this fun idea: A pair of flip flops with large floral shoe clips, one in red and one in blue. These Flop Toppers are $17 at Etsy.  The 4th of July Perky Bow Shoe Shoe Clip is another cute option I came across for $17 at Etsy.

Of course, if you plan to order anything online for the 4th, be sure to check with the retailer to determine if your order can arrive on time.

I hope everyone has a great holiday!

Purple wedding shoes in plum & more shades

Tuesday, May 1st, 2012

Since wedding season is upon us, we have plenty of brides looking for the ideal shoes to go along with their dress; thus, we have another bridal-themed Find My Shoes post today!  I received two requests recently from brides-to-be that are both looking for purple shoes for their big day.  First, we have Shannon, who is wearing the beautiful Alfred Angelo Belle dress (pictured above, left) and wants to find shoes in the shade of David’s Bridal plum.  She loves the look of the $230 High Society Heel at My Glass Slipper (pictured above, right), but needs something more affordable.  We also have Jessica, who wants to find an elegant, not-too-expensive style in bright purple.  So, I’ve been on the hunt for a plethora of pretty purple pumps that just might work for these ladies, or at least hopefully so.  Here’s what I found:

After looking at available options, I believe the best way to get the look of the High Society heel on a budget is to go with a shoe clip.  The nice thing about going this route is having more flexibility to choose the exact shoe style you want – for instance, Bridalshoes.com has lots of dyeable wedding shoes under $100 in various heel heights and 4 shades of purple to choose from.  A simple, but dressy heel, like the dyeable satin Touch Ups Flash-647 (pictured above, left) could work well and it’s affordably priced at $54 with a $14 dye fee.  You can then pick out a shoe clip and I tend to like the wide selection of options at Etsy.  The floral shoe clip pictured above is $24 in gold or silver and I think it would look really nice contrasted with purple.  When you combine the cost of the shoe and the shoe clip, it totals $92, which is less than half the cost of the High Society style.

Here are some ready-made options I found (Note: I tried to get as close as possible to the requested plum shade, but I am basing this solely on the picture, which may not always be exact):

Allure Bridals Starlight for $79.95 with free shipping at Shoebuy.  Coupon code SPRING15 takes 15% off (expiration unknown).

RSVP Cailyn for $99 with free shipping at Zappos.

Nina Elke for $99 with free shipping from Zappos.

Coloriffics Rave for $99.95 with free shipping at Endless.  Spend $100 or more on eligible styles, including this one, and get 20% off with coupon code FORMAL12 (exp 5/7/12).  The base color of these shoes appears lighter, but the stones are a darker purple.

Poetic Licence Spectacle in purple for $62 with free shipping from Must Have Shoes or $79 with free shipping from Planet Shoes.

Touch Ups by Benjamin Adams Bev for $61.99 with free shipping from Shoes.com.  Coupon code SECRET20 takes 20% off (exp unknown).

Bourne Susie in Aubergine for $136.85 with free shipping from Endless.

Poetic Licence Force of Nature, an option that’s a bit different than the rest, but still has plenty of purple, for $89.40 at Dillards or $109 at Must Have Shoes, both with free shipping.

Now for some bright purple options.  I included more variety as far as the actual shade goes with these shoes since bright purple can mean different things to different people.  Of course, it’s the bride’s call to determine what exact shade will work for her, so here are some possibilities to consider:

Charles by Charles David Glacee in purple for $125.34 with free shipping from Endless.

Dyeables Lacey in purple for $69.99 with free shipping at Shoes.com.  Coupon code SECRET20 takes 20% off (exp unknown).

Coloriffics Miley in purple for $69.95 with free shipping from Endless.  Spend $100 or more on eligible styles, including this one, and get 20% off with coupon code FORMAL12 (exp 5/7/12).

Ivanka Trump Alluvia for $82.11 with free shipping at Endless.

H by Halston Abigail for $59.99 at Bakers (for the platform lovers!).

Steve Madden Hadley-R for $119.95 at Steve Madden and coupon code SMSPRING15 takes 15% off $75 and gives free shipping for a limited time.

Lulu Townsend Blossom wedge for $54.95 at DSW.  Members get free shipping on $35 with coupon code SHIPR through 6/20/12.

Nine West Devika for $49.99 with free shipping at 6pm.

Pour La Victoire Evelia for $74.50 with free shipping at Endless.

J.Renee Rosina in multi for $79.95 with free shipping at Endless.  This option clearly isn’t solid purple, but if you look close at the glitter, there is plenty of purple mixed in, so it could be really pretty.

Congratulations to both brides!

Ivory wedding sandals with sparkly rhinestones

Wednesday, April 18th, 2012

I received another inquiry from a bride-to-be that needs some assistance finding her perfect wedding shoes and, in today’s Find My Shoes feature, I hope to help her out.  For this particular request, the bride will be wearing an ivory version of the gorgeous Alfred Angelo dress you see pictured above and wants to find ivory wedding shoes to complement it for her upcoming garden wedding.  She is looking for something with plenty of sparkle and something that is designed with some kind of strap over the foot because pumps and slingbacks tend to slide off her feet.  She also wants a heel of up to 3.5″ and wants to stay within a budget of around $100, give or take a bit depending on the shoe.  So, with that in mind, I set out to find some options that meet her desired criteria, or at least very close.  Let’s take a look:

Brianna Leigh Alyssa in ivory silk satin for $139.95 with free shipping at Shoebuy.  Coupon code SPRING15 takes 15% off, which makes them $118.96 (exp 4/30/12).

A.Marinelli Excess in ivory for $72.80 with free shipping at Endless.

Kenneth Cole Reaction Know Blinkie in cream for $89.95 at Shoemall.  Coupon code SHOESRFUN takes 20% off, making them $71.96 (exp. 4/18/12).  They are also available at Dillards for $89.99.  Note: Dillards has it listed as a 4″ heel, while Shoemall has it at 3.5″.

Nina Vianey in ivory for $49.99 with free shipping at 6pm. Also available at Shoebuy for $71.95 with free shipping and 15% off via the coupon listed above.

Coloriffics Camryn in ivory for $106.45 at Shoebuy.  Use the coupon code listed above for 15% off.

Pour La Victoire Estee in ivory with blue sole adorned with “I do” crystals for $68 with free shipping at Amazon.

Antonio Melani Tabitha in ivory for $89.99 at Dillards.

Nina Chara in ivory for $99 with free shipping at Endless.

Antonio Melani Reiss for $110 at Dillards (note: heel is 4″).

Chinese Laundry Abbie in ivory for $69 at Macys.

Annie Adrien in ivory for $59.95 with free shipping at Endless.

Update: Another one I came across, the Paco Mena Gloria in ivory for $124 with free shipping at Endless.  Get 20% off $100 with coupon code MOTHER20 through 5/13/12.

Update 2: The heel is higher than requested at 4.25″, but it’s hard to deny the gorgeous Ivanka Trump Abilene in ivory.  It’s available at Bloomingdales for $150.

Congrats to the bride on her upcoming special day!

Find My Shoes: Jimmy Choo Bello look-alike + low heel clear crystal shoes

Friday, March 9th, 2012

Happy Friday to everyone!  Today, I’m talking about two requests I received to help find bridal shoes and, since the inquiries were somewhat similar, I’m going to include them both in one Find My Shoes post.  The first request is for a more affordable version of the gorgeous Jimmy Choo Bello wedge you see pictured above (love!) and the other is for a low-heel, crystal-covered shoe, preferably with a clear upper.  So, I set my sights on some similar options and found some potential pairs.  Let’s dive right in, shall we?

First, we have options for the wedge.  I find that the sparkling, textured upper, the slim silhouette, and the wedge heel (3.5 inches, no high platform) are the three features that stand out most on the Jimmy Choo pair, which are priced at $595 at Nordstrom.  While I didn’t see any lower-priced options with these exact features, I did find shoes that incorporate at least two out of three, so they could be possibilities based on which elements matter most to the wearer.  I think the closest look to the Choos overall is the Butter Calm in silver (above), which is $304 at Amazon.  Here are some more:

Nina Fern for $78.95 at Nordstrom.

Nine West Flax in Light Gold on sale for $58.65 with free shipping at 6pm.

Enzo Angiolini Roxas for $99 at Bloomingdales.

Touch Ups Autumn for $89.95 at Onlineshoes.com.  Coupon code 2WINDY10 takes 10% off regularly-priced items through 3/31/12.

J.Renee Arlinda in silver for $52.11 with free 2-day shipping from Endless.

Lulu Townsend Chic for $49.95 at DSW.

Celeste Marisa-03 for $70.99 with free 2-day shipping from Endless.

If none of these quite fit, perhaps a custom shoe is in order.  The “blank slate” wedge you see above is one style that’s available at Milk & Honey Shoes, a site that offers the option to choose from various shoe styles and add the exact options you want,  such as material, heel height, and more for a price of $275.

Now, we have options for the low-heeled clear shoes with crystals – A Cinderella slipper, you might say, and one that is around two inches or less in the heel.  Here’s what I found:

Lava Melody-3065 for $49.95 or the similar Lava Riviera-3025 for $44.95 at MetallicBridalShoes.com.

Lava Dawn-3095 for $54.95 at MetallicBridalShoes.com.

Cinderella Slippers for $29.95 at Pyramid Collection.

Melissa Ultragirl + J. Maskrey flat for $350 at Endless.

Touch Ups Candy for $74.95 with free shipping at Onlineshoes.com.  Coupon code 2WINDY10 takes 10% off regularly-priced items through 3/31/12.

Steve Madden I-Dreamy for $49.98 at Stevemadden.com.

Another option might be purchasing a completely clear shoe and adding crystals to it, either through a company or individual that provides this type of service or even DIY it if you feel so inclined.  Here are some shoes that could work for this type of scenario:

Touch Ups Cinderella for $55.95 with free shipping at Shoebuy.  Coupon EMLSPRINGAHEAD12 takes 20% off through 3/11/12.

Vaneli Briseis on sale for $36.60 with free shipping at 6pm.

Update – More options I came across:

Express Glitter Open-Toe Midi-Wedge on sale for $34.93 at Express.  I also found a flat clear sandal with rhinestone detail at Aldo, the Aldo Resteika for $40.

Annie Bobby II for $39.95 at DSW.

Update 2: Another option for the Jimmy Choos with similar detail on the upper and a silver metallic heel:

J. Renee Selah for $104.95 at Nordstrom.

Hopefully this helps and thanks for the requests.

Have a great weekend!

Shoes from the Oscars 2012: Melissa McCarthy in Brian Atwood & Angelina Jolie in Ferragamo

Monday, February 27th, 2012

I love to watch the fashion at the Oscars, but my one gripe is that you can’t see the shoes!  We know there’s plenty of fabulous footwear strolling around the red carpet for sure, but they’re often lost under a sea of chiffon and silk and taffeta.  But, while watching the E! pre-show special, I did take note of one sweet shoe story: That of actress Melissa McCarthy and shoe designer Brian Atwood.  Melissa, who received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress for the movie Bridesmaids, told Ryan Seacrest that her clutch and shoes were custom designed by Atwood.  Even better, she went on to say that they’ve been friends since high school and that he signed her shoes “To my best friend Melissa McCarthy”.  After hearing that, I had to see the shoes:

From @Brian_Atwood on Twitter

These are the heels she wore and they’re definitely gorgeous princess shoes, plus even more special that they were custom designed by a good friend, who just happens to be an amazing shoe designer.  Of course, at this blog, we’re all about the budget-friendly alternatives to high-end designer pairs.  If you love the look of this sparkly peep toe pump, but want to find it for less, here are a few options:

Steve Madden Cycile in silver for $89.99 with free shipping at 6pm.

Chinese Laundry Hey There for $65.55 with free shipping from Shoes.com.  Coupon code SECRET20 takes 20% off, making them $52.44 (exp 3/6/12).

Then there’s Angelina Jolie, who definitely showed plenty of leg – right leg, to be specific – at the Oscars.  Angelina is gorgeous and I have to admit I found her Oscar vamping fun, but I do think she missed a bit of an opportunity in regards to her shoes.  She wore a Ferragamo pair that looks much like these black satin peep toe heels, available for $425 at YOOX (limited sizes):

These are great shoes, make no mistake, but I must say that her high-slit black dress offered the perfect opportunity to showcase an even more dramatic, show-stopping style.  Gucci perhaps?

Gucci Ophelie heels for $1,195 at Saks.

That’s just me, but she still looked amazing.

Any more Oscars shoes that you took note of?  Let us know in the comments or on Facebook!

Shoes to Love: Heels & Flats with Hearts

Tuesday, February 14th, 2012

It’s Valentine’s Day and I hope love is in the air for everyone, but perhaps a little shoe love is in order.  Something I’m always sweet on is the use of heart detail on shoes.  It doesn’t matter the style of shoe – whether classic or edgy or eclectic or casual – a heart always adds a nice dose of girly romance to the look.  That’s why I’ve rounded up a variety of styles (a little something for everyone, you might say) that all display the ultimate symbol of love in some form or fashion.  One that I’m particularly loving is the Betsey Johnson Glitzeee, a sparkly peep toe pump with heart that’s available for $132.95 with free shipping at Endless.  You also get an extra 20% off at checkout through 2/14/12.  Or, you get them for $132.05 with free shipping at Shoes.com with 20% off via coupon code SECRET20 through 2/15/12.  You can also get it in black with red lips – very appros for Valentine’s Day – as well as star and lightning bolt versions.

If you prefer a flat, you can find the adorable Betsey Johnson Smoooch for $77.99 with free shipping at Zappos.

Another cute flat with heart detail: The Miss Me Mooz-16 in black/red or grey/pink for $15.99 with free shipping at 6pm.

To get a a red sequin heart on the back of a pretty bow pump, try the Iron Fist Jen’s Heart for $54.99 with free shipping at Heels.com.

More from Iron Fist: The Iron Fist Loose Lips (pictured) or the very similar Iron Fist Love Bites, both in leopard prints with heart charm detail.  These shoes are both available at Amazon with prices that vary by size and color.

For a super-sexy vibe, go for the Betsey Johnson Baamm in leopard for $139.99 at Dillards.

Or, the Betsey Johnson Boomm with heart detail on the platform for $84.99 with free shipping at 6pm.

It looks like Cupid’s been paying a visit to Irregular Choice – just check out that heel.  The Irregular Choice Oh Ello, which is $199 at Irregular Choice, has a cutout wedge heel with hearts and an arrow going through the center, plus it’s topped off with a dramatic flower bouquet.  Other styles with this heel include the Irregular Choice Iris Blue and the Irregular Choice Miss Twiss.

Another cute and quirky choice with heart detail from the same brand: The Irregular Choice I’m From Bury for $115 at Irregular Choice (almost sold out) or $139 at Must Have Shoes.

For a platform with an edgy vibe and sweet heart cutout in the heel, check out the T.U.K. A8047L for $114 with free shipping at Endless.  Similar styles include the T.U.K. A8046L in red and black for $114 and the T.U.K. A7877L in leopard for $110.  A 20% discount applies to each of these automatically at checkout through 2/14/12.

Also from the same brand, the T.U.K. A8052L in gold/black or the T.U.K. A8051L in blue/black with heart cutout in the heel, but a lower platform than the styles above.  These are both $104.50 with free shipping and eligible for an automatic 20% off at checkout through 2/14/12.

Finally, if you’re a cowgirl at heart, you’ll love these Durango Crush Heart Boots with heart-shaped cutouts.  They come in red, taupe or black at Amazon with prices from $113 depending on size and color selection.

I hope everyone has a wonderful V-day!

Prices and promotions subject to change.

Find My Shoes: Purple wedding heels & Jeffrey Campbell Shadow

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

So…obviously it’s been awhile since I’ve updated the site.  I didn’t intend to stop posting, but the demands of life got pretty intense for me over the holidays: A project at work that required a lot of extra hours and family stuff basically took over.  But, it seems things have calmed down a bit and I really want to get back to something I love: shoes!  And talking about them on this blog!  I plan to get back into the swing of things and I thought answering some shoe questions I recently received would be a good way to start.  You may have noticed the gorgeous Enzo Angiolini Thaddea in purple pictured above – it’s a shoe I loved the first time I saw it, but I also posted it for a more specific reason:  I had a request from Jasmine on Facebook to help find purple / eggplant wedding shoes, preferably with some bling.  These are one of my favorite fancy purple pairs of the moment – I’m loving the feather and gem detail, not to mention the color – and they can be purchased at Lord & Taylor for $129.  Apply coupon code FINAL to get 15% off, making them $109.65 with free shipping (expires 2/7).  They are also available at Nordstrom for $119.95 with free shipping.

I really like the Enzos, but I also realize that every bride is different in what they envision themselves walking down the aisle in.  Thus, we need options, options, and more options, which works out well because I never mind checking out more pretty purple shoes.  I think the Poetic License Spectacle in purple is a sweet choice.  It has a more classic vibe, but the all-over texture adds extra interest and the bow is bedecked in rhinestones for added bling.  Plus, the heel is just over 3 inches, which is quite moderate compared to many shoes available these days and may translate to additional comfort – avoiding foot pain is an obvious plus on the big day.  The Poetic Licence Spectacle is available at Endless for $60.23, down from $98.  If you spend over $100 on eligible styles, including this pair, you get 20% off through 2/14.

Here are some more dark purple heels I found, in various styles that range from classic to a bit more over-the-top dramatic (or somewhere in-between):

Steve Madden Bitter for $129.95 at Endless.  Get 20% off $100 on this style at checkout through 2/14/12.

RSVP Ramona for $53.40 with free shipping at 6pm.

Badgley Mischka Lissa in purple for $245 with free shipping at Zappos.

RSVP Fleur for $48.30 with free shipping at 6pm.

Bourne Susie for $140.51 with free shipping at Endless.

Paris Hilton Crystal for $99 at Macys.  Apply coupon code RED to get 20% off no minimum and free shipping on $99 or more (expires 2/5/12).

Isola Tate for $66.99 with free shipping at 6pm.

After a nice dose of purple bridal shoes, we’re going to switch gears to something completely different.  I had an email question from Shadae about the shoes above, which were pictured on Tumblr, and where to find them.  I actually recognized them right away because, well, this is the kind of shoe you remember once you lay your eyes on it.

This is one of Jeffrey Campbell’s latest naughty creations, the heel-less, totally spiked out Jeffrey Campbell Shadow.  It’s definitely packing some serious edge for the fearless fashion lovers among us and can be found in black leather or patent at Karmaloop for $264 (no promo codes apply at this time) or at Solestruck in black leather for $264.95.

On a related note, Solestruck also offers the Jeffrey Campbell Prickly, a mary jane heel-less style in beige or black, for $219.95.  Update:  The Jeffrey Campbell Prickly in beige is available for $219.90 at Akira.

Have a great weekend!
