Purple wedding shoes in plum & more shades

Tuesday, May 1st, 2012

Since wedding season is upon us, we have plenty of brides looking for the ideal shoes to go along with their dress; thus, we have another bridal-themed Find My Shoes post today!  I received two requests recently from brides-to-be that are both looking for purple shoes for their big day.  First, we have Shannon, who is wearing the beautiful Alfred Angelo Belle dress (pictured above, left) and wants to find shoes in the shade of David’s Bridal plum.  She loves the look of the $230 High Society Heel at My Glass Slipper (pictured above, right), but needs something more affordable.  We also have Jessica, who wants to find an elegant, not-too-expensive style in bright purple.  So, I’ve been on the hunt for a plethora of pretty purple pumps that just might work for these ladies, or at least hopefully so.  Here’s what I found:

After looking at available options, I believe the best way to get the look of the High Society heel on a budget is to go with a shoe clip.  The nice thing about going this route is having more flexibility to choose the exact shoe style you want – for instance, Bridalshoes.com has lots of dyeable wedding shoes under $100 in various heel heights and 4 shades of purple to choose from.  A simple, but dressy heel, like the dyeable satin Touch Ups Flash-647 (pictured above, left) could work well and it’s affordably priced at $54 with a $14 dye fee.  You can then pick out a shoe clip and I tend to like the wide selection of options at Etsy.  The floral shoe clip pictured above is $24 in gold or silver and I think it would look really nice contrasted with purple.  When you combine the cost of the shoe and the shoe clip, it totals $92, which is less than half the cost of the High Society style.

Here are some ready-made options I found (Note: I tried to get as close as possible to the requested plum shade, but I am basing this solely on the picture, which may not always be exact):

Allure Bridals Starlight for $79.95 with free shipping at Shoebuy.  Coupon code SPRING15 takes 15% off (expiration unknown).

RSVP Cailyn for $99 with free shipping at Zappos.

Nina Elke for $99 with free shipping from Zappos.

Coloriffics Rave for $99.95 with free shipping at Endless.  Spend $100 or more on eligible styles, including this one, and get 20% off with coupon code FORMAL12 (exp 5/7/12).  The base color of these shoes appears lighter, but the stones are a darker purple.

Poetic Licence Spectacle in purple for $62 with free shipping from Must Have Shoes or $79 with free shipping from Planet Shoes.

Touch Ups by Benjamin Adams Bev for $61.99 with free shipping from Shoes.com.  Coupon code SECRET20 takes 20% off (exp unknown).

Bourne Susie in Aubergine for $136.85 with free shipping from Endless.

Poetic Licence Force of Nature, an option that’s a bit different than the rest, but still has plenty of purple, for $89.40 at Dillards or $109 at Must Have Shoes, both with free shipping.

Now for some bright purple options.  I included more variety as far as the actual shade goes with these shoes since bright purple can mean different things to different people.  Of course, it’s the bride’s call to determine what exact shade will work for her, so here are some possibilities to consider:

Charles by Charles David Glacee in purple for $125.34 with free shipping from Endless.

Dyeables Lacey in purple for $69.99 with free shipping at Shoes.com.  Coupon code SECRET20 takes 20% off (exp unknown).

Coloriffics Miley in purple for $69.95 with free shipping from Endless.  Spend $100 or more on eligible styles, including this one, and get 20% off with coupon code FORMAL12 (exp 5/7/12).

Ivanka Trump Alluvia for $82.11 with free shipping at Endless.

H by Halston Abigail for $59.99 at Bakers (for the platform lovers!).

Steve Madden Hadley-R for $119.95 at Steve Madden and coupon code SMSPRING15 takes 15% off $75 and gives free shipping for a limited time.

Lulu Townsend Blossom wedge for $54.95 at DSW.  Members get free shipping on $35 with coupon code SHIPR through 6/20/12.

Nine West Devika for $49.99 with free shipping at 6pm.

Pour La Victoire Evelia for $74.50 with free shipping at Endless.

J.Renee Rosina in multi for $79.95 with free shipping at Endless.  This option clearly isn’t solid purple, but if you look close at the glitter, there is plenty of purple mixed in, so it could be really pretty.

Congratulations to both brides!

Shoes for Victorian Steampunk wedding style

Monday, April 16th, 2012

Help! I’m getting married in October. My dress is ivory lace. I’m looking for a victorian boot or really nice but not too expensive closed toe pump to wear! I’m a bit of a lace/steampunk geek, and finding shoes to fit is so hard! Can you help?

I received this request by email for some help finding Victorian and/or Steampunk bridal shoes and, thus, I got to have a bit of fun scouting out some nontraditional wedding shoes that reflect these styles in some way or another.  Some of the shoes I found are more Victorian – whether it be a hint of influence or more overt – and then there are those that also incorporate the edgy, industrial vibe that is often found with the Steampunk aesthetic: Think Victorian, but with a kick via heavy metal detail like gear embellishments (love this Steampunk wedding for inspiration).  Also, some of the shoes I found are costume shoes technically, but if they provide the right look, they are viable options for the intended purpose.  Of course, it all depends on the bride: her personal preferences, how far and literal she wants to go with the theme, and if she plans to wear traditional bridal colors like ivory or metallics or delve into darker shades like brown and black or even go with a print, like you see with the floral Poetic Licence Lady Victoria pictured above (These are available for $84 at Must Have Shoes).  Whatever the case may be, here are more various options I came across and, hopefully, one of these just might be a perfect fit:

Lace Victorian Tall Boots in Ivory for $44.99 at BuyCostumes.

Funtasma Dame 115 for $54.95 with free shipping at Shoebuy.  The ivory version is very close to being sold out, but they also carry gold (pictured) and black.  For a shorter version, try the Funtasma Dame 05 for $49.95 with free shipping at Shoebuy or the Ivory Victorian boot at BuyCostumes for $42.99.

Irregular Choice Milk Mint for $134.99 with free shipping from Heels.com.

Annette Adult Shoes for $42.99 at BuyCostumes.

Poetic Licence Dorothy’s Dream in pewter or gold for $97.95 with free shipping at Endless.  The black version is $49.50.

Victoria Adult Boots for $49.99 at BuyCostumes.

Demonia Glam-240 for $73.99 at Sinister Soles.  Also available at Shoebuy for $104.95.

Irregular Choice Flick Flack for $129 at Irregular Choice.

Poetic Licence Spitfire in cream for $129 with free shipping at Endless.

Irregular Choice Abigails 3rd Party in gold for $155 with free shipping at Endless.

Pleaser Arena-208 Victorian Button Boots for $56.99 at Sinister Soles. A similar, shorter version is the Pleaser Splendor-130 for $52.99.

Hades Eiffel with metallic Steampunk heel in black, brown, or burgundy for $127.95 at Shoebuy.  If you prefer the white “ice” version, it appears to be sold out in most places, but it shows as available at Funky Pair for $127.95.

Irregular Choice Can’t Touch This in blue or silver for $165 with free shipping from Endless.

Irregular Choice Lucite Lovely for $165 with free shipping at Endless.

Adult Steampunk Shoes for $42.99 at BuyCostumes.

Seychelles Exclamation Point for $72.19 with free shipping at Endless.

Demonia Tesla 03 in black or brown for $64.95 with free shipping at Shoebuy.

Irregular Choice Cortesan Floral Bar for $140 at Irregular Choice.

Poetic Licence Sweet Ending in eggplant, green, or grey for $97.95 at Shoebuy.

In addition to these ready-made pairs, there are options for getting custom shoes in this style.  Find information on custom Steampunk boots and Victorian lace covering for shoes on Etsy (note: price is for customization only and does not include the cost of the shoes).

Need a discount?  Here are some coupon codes for some of the stores listed above:

Shoebuy Coupon code EMLTRAINING12 gives $7 off one pair of shoes, $15 off two, or $25 off three or more (exp. 4/17/12).

BuyCostumes Coupon code APRIL20 gives 20% off (working as of now, but may expire by today 4/16/12).  Or, sign up for their email list to get a 15% off coupon or use code BUYMORE to get $5 off $50 or more (exp. 4/22/12).

Sinister Soles Coupon code FALL20 gives 20% off $40 or more (expiration unknown).

Hopefully this helps out!

Tuesday, March 13th, 2012

St. Patrick’s Day is coming up this weekend, so if you have plans for this Saturday and want to get into the spirit of the holiday by wearing green, why not do it with your shoes?  Shoes are the perfect way to have a little fun with the tradition of donning the shade and there are certainly plenty of options for whatever you have planned for the day.  Plus, you just might have a little extra luck on your side – at least that’s what they say – and you definitely won’t get pinched.  That’s why I always love to check out the footwear available in green every time St. Patty’s Day draws near.  One pair I came across, the Mojo Moxy Petals in green (pictured above), is one that I find particularly appros for the day.  These are floral, but you have to admit some of the detail looks a lot like clovers – if only they were 4-leaf, right?  Still a great option and you can find these for $79.95 with free 2-day shipping at Endless, plus get 20% off $100 select styles with coupon code FRNDSFAM through 3/15/12.  There are limited sizes left, but we have plenty additional options.  Let’s take a look:

Spring Shoes from Poetic Licence: Good To Be Bad & A Fling Thing

Friday, March 2nd, 2012

Spring is definitely the best time of year for shoe lovers.  The shoes literally bloom in a variety of colors, shapes, and pretty little details, and you no longer have to worry about pesky, sensible things like bundling up in the cold and covering your toes.  I’m definitely enjoying looking at the new styles coming out and one brand that tends to be particularly on point this time of year is Poetic Licence.  In fact, one style from the brand actually has me coming down with a case of spring fever – it’s that hot!  The Poetic Licence Good To Be Bad (pictured above) has super-pretty teardrop cutout detail around the heel and an extra dose of glam via the sparkly rhinestone flower accent.  I’m partial to the natural version, but it also comes in grey and purple:

Both versions of the Poetic Licence Good To Be Bad are availabe at Endless for $149 with free shipping.

Speaking of Poetic Licence, here is another style I’m finding hard to resist:

Poetic Licence A Fling Thing in red or natural for $149 with free shipping from Endless.  They do floral shoes so well, don’t they?

Have a wonderful weekend!

Find My Shoes: Purple wedding heels & Jeffrey Campbell Shadow

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

So…obviously it’s been awhile since I’ve updated the site.  I didn’t intend to stop posting, but the demands of life got pretty intense for me over the holidays: A project at work that required a lot of extra hours and family stuff basically took over.  But, it seems things have calmed down a bit and I really want to get back to something I love: shoes!  And talking about them on this blog!  I plan to get back into the swing of things and I thought answering some shoe questions I recently received would be a good way to start.  You may have noticed the gorgeous Enzo Angiolini Thaddea in purple pictured above – it’s a shoe I loved the first time I saw it, but I also posted it for a more specific reason:  I had a request from Jasmine on Facebook to help find purple / eggplant wedding shoes, preferably with some bling.  These are one of my favorite fancy purple pairs of the moment – I’m loving the feather and gem detail, not to mention the color – and they can be purchased at Lord & Taylor for $129.  Apply coupon code FINAL to get 15% off, making them $109.65 with free shipping (expires 2/7).  They are also available at Nordstrom for $119.95 with free shipping.

I really like the Enzos, but I also realize that every bride is different in what they envision themselves walking down the aisle in.  Thus, we need options, options, and more options, which works out well because I never mind checking out more pretty purple shoes.  I think the Poetic License Spectacle in purple is a sweet choice.  It has a more classic vibe, but the all-over texture adds extra interest and the bow is bedecked in rhinestones for added bling.  Plus, the heel is just over 3 inches, which is quite moderate compared to many shoes available these days and may translate to additional comfort – avoiding foot pain is an obvious plus on the big day.  The Poetic Licence Spectacle is available at Endless for $60.23, down from $98.  If you spend over $100 on eligible styles, including this pair, you get 20% off through 2/14.

Here are some more dark purple heels I found, in various styles that range from classic to a bit more over-the-top dramatic (or somewhere in-between):

Steve Madden Bitter for $129.95 at Endless.  Get 20% off $100 on this style at checkout through 2/14/12.

RSVP Ramona for $53.40 with free shipping at 6pm.

Badgley Mischka Lissa in purple for $245 with free shipping at Zappos.

RSVP Fleur for $48.30 with free shipping at 6pm.

Bourne Susie for $140.51 with free shipping at Endless.

Paris Hilton Crystal for $99 at Macys.  Apply coupon code RED to get 20% off no minimum and free shipping on $99 or more (expires 2/5/12).

Isola Tate for $66.99 with free shipping at 6pm.

After a nice dose of purple bridal shoes, we’re going to switch gears to something completely different.  I had an email question from Shadae about the shoes above, which were pictured on Tumblr, and where to find them.  I actually recognized them right away because, well, this is the kind of shoe you remember once you lay your eyes on it.

This is one of Jeffrey Campbell’s latest naughty creations, the heel-less, totally spiked out Jeffrey Campbell Shadow.  It’s definitely packing some serious edge for the fearless fashion lovers among us and can be found in black leather or patent at Karmaloop for $264 (no promo codes apply at this time) or at Solestruck in black leather for $264.95.

On a related note, Solestruck also offers the Jeffrey Campbell Prickly, a mary jane heel-less style in beige or black, for $219.95.  Update:  The Jeffrey Campbell Prickly in beige is available for $219.90 at Akira.

Have a great weekend!

SOS: Extra 25% off clearance shoes at Lord & Taylor

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

Lord and Taylor is having a sale on a sale with their latest coupon and I’m seeing some extra-good savings on shoes already-reduced in price.  You can opt to get an extra 15% off regular or sale styles by applying coupon code STYLE at checkout, but the real bargains are found in the clearance shoes section, which enjoy an even higher extra 25% off discount using the same code.  As an example of the savings, the Elie Taharie Chelsea sandal (pictured above) retails for $398 and is marked down to $139.99, but falls even further to $104.99 at checkout after the code.  But, be forewarned that many of these shoes have few sizes left (the Elie Taharie pair only has three as of this posting), so you might want to pick your size at the top before browsing the options.  Here are some more shoes I found in the sale that still have a wide selection of size options:

The Steve Madden Minnii in blush for black retails for $129, is on sale for $49.99, and drops to $37.49 after code.

The Bourne Josephine in animal print or ivory retails for $238, is on sale for $89.99, and is reduced to $67.49 after code.

The Poetic Licence Exclusive Delight in red retails for $98, is on sale for $69.99, and falls to $52.49 after code.  It also comes in purple, but only one size is left in that color.

The Enzo Angiolini Romario in black retails for $89.99, is on sale for $34.99, and is reduced to $26.24 after code.  You can also get it in green or denim.

See the entire selection of clearance shoes for more options.  The coupon expires 8/22/11 and exclusions may apply.

New fall shoes on sale at Endless + more shoes on discount

Wednesday, July 20th, 2011

Endless is one of my go-to online shoe stores for their wide selection and extra-quick shipping options, but I especially love when they have a good sale on top of all of that.  Right now, they are offering a discount of $25 off $80 on select women’s shoes and more items (update: expired), which is pretty good, but it’s even more notable considering that many eligible styles are new arrivals for fall.  That’s a nice way to get an early discount on something fresh and new for the upcoming season, but there’s also some summer styles eligible as well.  With nearly 2,000 shoe options, there’s definitely plenty to choose from, but one that caught my eye is the pretty Poetic Licence Sweet Dreams (pictured above), which has a very delicate and romantic look with it’s sheer dotted lace detail that runs all the way up to the ankle.  It comes in black, champagne, or dark pink for $129 with free overnight shipping, but falls to $104 after the discount, which is applied automatically during the final stage of checkout.  Here are a couple of more options I found:

The Not Rated Short Stack is another pair from the Not Rated brand with a studded wedge heel very similar to the Jeffrey Campbell Tick.  It comes in white (pictured), black, grey, tan, or yellow for $84.95 with free overnight shipping.  After the discount, you can get them for $59.95.

This pair stood out because of it’s cool black and white giraffe pattern and it’s sweet little price tag for a statement-making fall boot.  Get a little wild in the Michael Antonio Melati, which is $95 before the discount and $70 after.  Free overnight shipping is included and it also comes in an all black version.

I then spotted a nice price on the Sam Edelman Lorissa in Truffle.  It’s marked down to $114.71 and falls to under $100 after the discount – $89.71 with free 2-day shipping to be exact.  There are more options available at various price points depending on the color selected.

For many more, check out all of the shoes on sale.  The $25 discount is available for a limited time (expiration unknown, but the discount will show on the product page if available) and all prices are subject to change.

Update: The $25 off $80 promo listed in this post is now expired.
