Spring shoes in rainbow multicolor

Thursday, March 29th, 2012

I love how everything is about color, color, color right now when it comes to fashion.  We’ve seen the colorblocking trend enjoy plenty of longevity – it was a hit last spring too and just keeps going – and people have certainly become less afraid of combining color in unexpected ways.  Pastel shoes and pastel colorblocking have also been popular this season, which I can definitely appreciate, but bold color is always a go-to style must in the spring and summer months.  Perhaps because when things start heating up outdoors and everything gets much more colorful around us, our style naturally follows suit.

When it comes to shoes, there are many options out there for wearing a single bold color or even two or three in one pair, but today I’m focusing on the shoes that have at least four or more shades.  You just can’t help but be cheerful when you look at all of these colors playing so nicely together and if it’s extreme color that you crave, they really bring it.  One bold and dramatic example is the Zigi Shoes Sundae (pictured top), a shoe modeled after the Ferragamo Rainbow shoes.  I mentioned these on my Facebook page when LuLus came out with them, but they have since sold out (very quickly, I might add).  They are now available at Karmaloop for $250 and coupon code 10OFF100 takes 10% off $100, which drops them to $225 (exp 3/31/12).  Update: These are once again available at LuLus for $179.  Also at Heels.com for $294.99.

Here are some more multicolor options:

Kate Spade Lindsay for $275 with free shipping at Endless.

Inc International Valencia for $89 at Macys.  Coupon code SHOES takes 15% off 1 pair of shoes, 20% off 2 pairs, or 30% off 3 or more (exp 4/15/12).

Enigma Starlite for $76 with free shipping at Lulus.

Miss L-Fire Chica Chica Boom for $119.99 with free shipping at Heels.com.

Ash Hollywood for $189.95 with free shipping at Solestruck.

N.Y.L.A. Cobain for $117 with free shipping at Lulus.

Jeffrey Campbell Party-2 for $119.95 with free shipping at Envishoes.

Update 2: Another option is the Big Buddha Mojo for $59.95 with free shipping at Shoemall.  Get 20% off with coupon EGGSTRA20 through 4/10/12.

Update 3: Love the United Nude Elastic Remi.  It’s available for $279.95 with free shipping at Solestruck and for $280 with free shipping at Karmaloop.

Update 4: These super-affordable rainbow shoes can be found at GoJane for $33 in black, red, or orange.

Update 5: Here are some cute rainbow flats from Lulus.com, the Bamboo Feeling 03 for $25.

N.Y.L.A. Genevieve, a Christian Louboutin spike bow heels lookalike

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

I recently posted about a Christian Louboutin Clou Noeud knockoff in black from Frederick’s of Hollywood and I noted that the shoe looked just like a sold-out style Nordstrom had offered a few months prior, the N.Y.L.A. Genevieve.  Well, I found that the Genevieve is back in action at Nordstrom and it’s now available in a hot new crimson shade.  I’m all about this bright red version, which could also be compared to the Christian Louboutin Lady Clou, another spike studded shoe from CL that came in red.  More good news: If you totally coveted the nude Clou Noeud when it was out, you’ll definitely want to check out this version:

The N.Y.L.A. Genevieve is also back in stock in nude, as well as black, each for $104.95 at Nordstrom.  However, if you prefer the black pair, it’s worth noting that you’ll save more by getting the Frederick’s of Hollywood version for $94 and they’ll give you another $10 off automatically at checkout, making the price $84.  The offer expires 5/29/11.  Update: Frederick’s of Hollywood marked this style down to $79.99 and you get another $10 off at checkout through 6/19/11, making them $69.99.

Update 2: Another knockoff, the Privileged Sheena, is available at LuLu’s and it’s in pale pink!!  Also in black, each for $55.

Knockoffs for Christian Louboutin Clou Noeud & Jeffrey Campbell Tick

Tuesday, April 5th, 2011

You never know just what kind of shoes you’ll run into when browsing stores that are primarily known for selling pretty little underthings (i.e. lingerie).  It’s something I knew before, but I rediscovered it recently while checking out the footwear offered at Frederick’s of Hollywood and Victoria’s Secret.  What caught my eye is some “inspired by” versions of popular styles from both Christian Louboutin and Jeffrey Campbell that I hadn’t seen anywhere else.  First up, we have the Christian Louboutin Clou Noeud spiked heel (above), which was definitely an “it” shoe in the latter half of 2010 and seen worn by a slew of celebs.  These $1,195 shoes are sold out online and I haven’t seen a close lookalike, but I noticed the site In Their Closet found the N.Y.L.A. Genevieve at Nordstrom back in December that replicated the look.  Those are now sold out as well, but Frederick’s of Hollywood offers up another pair as an alternative:

This is the Peep-Toe Leather Artillery Pump in genuine black leather and it’s priced at $94.  You get $10 off $75, $20 off $100 or $40 off $150 automatically in cart until 4/10/11, which drops the price to $84 if ordered without other items.  I wouldn’t call it an exact replica of the Louboutins because you surely wouldn’t mistake one for the other (no signature red heel and less pointy spikes, for instance), but they’re clearly perfect for getting a very similar overall look.  Plus, if you missed the N.Y.L.A. version while it was at Nordstrom, this appears to be the exact same shoe but (presumably) sold under the Frederick’s label.

Update: See more Clou Noeud knockoffs from another post.

The other interesting shoes I came across (pictured above) are from Victoria’s Secret.  This is a style from Naughty Monkey and you’ll likely recognize the tack studded heel from another pair, the Jeffrey Campbell Tick – you know, the shoe that totally gave office supplies a fashion moment when they first came out in 2009.  Naughty Monkey’s version, again, is slightly different with the slingback, double strap styling and the various colored studs on one of the pairs.  I don’t know the exact name of the shoe because Victoria’s Secret usually doesn’t list this information (it’s called Embellished Wedge), but it doesn’t look like it’s currently available anywhere else.  You can get it in black or taupe for $80 (sold out).  If you add something else to your order to meet the minimum purchase requirement, you can get $15 off $100, $30 off $150 or $75 off $250 by applying coupon code SPRING11 through 5/3/11.  The expected ship date is 4/20/11.

Update: Mystery solved:  This shoe is the Not Rated Gaga and it’s also available in black at Journeys for $79.99 (ships in May) and in grey at Buckle for the same price.  Not Rated is a brand owned by the same company as Naughty Monkey.  Update 2: The black version is available at LuLu’s for $79.  Update 3: Piperlime has the black version for $79, Shoemall has grey or black for $79.95 and Zappos has black, grey or taupe for $84.99.

Shoes with a pop of color for colorblocking trend

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

We’ve been checking out both neutral shoes and multicolored shoes, but there’s another breed of footwear that combines elements of both.  These shoes have a primarily neutral palette, in shades like taupe, black, white or gray, but then there’s some portion of the shoe that is played up with a nice shot of color.  I love the overall effect this provides and, although there are many ways to wear these shoes, I find it particularly relevant for the colorblocking trend we’re seeing for spring (as noted on Stylelist).  If you’re experimenting with this trend by combining various contrasting color combinations in your clothing, you might opt to incorporate just a touch of one of those shades in your shoes to bring it all together.  Or, if you’re hesitant to try colorblocking with your clothes, some of these shoes have more than one hue, meaning the trend is already built-in and ready to go with any look you choose.   I’m loving the Pelle Moda Franky (above) with a pop of bright orange, which can be found for $162 with free shipping at Lori’s Shoes or for $180 with free shipping at Shopbop.  Here are some more options, in both warm and cool shades:

Aldo Dyle rubber sole wedge with a pop of yellow for $100 at Aldo.  Coupon code 310687728 takes 10% off, making them $90 (exp 4/1/11).  Note: If you’re obsessed with those Prada rubber sole wedges (like the $695 Prada Mary Jane Wedge) but can’t shell out the big bucks for them, this is a nice alternative for much less.

Aldo Heister platform sandals with a pop of orange or yellow for $100 at Aldo.com.  Coupon code 310687728 takes 10% off, making them $90 (exp 4/1/11).

Nine West Stylin colorblock sandals in dark pink and orange for $89 at Nine West (ships 4/26).  Shipping is also free for a limited time.

Fergie Bold heels with a pop of yellow for $99 with free shipping from Shoes.com.  Get 20% off your order, making these $79.20, with coupon code SECRET20 (exp 3/31/11).

Madison Harding Casey wedge with a pop of yellow for $235 with free shipping from Piperlime.

Jeffrey Campbell San Diego colorblock sandals in orange and yellow for $135 at Nasty Gal.

Topshop Luminate sandals with a pop of pink for $145 with free shipping at Topshop.

Steve Madden Bellahh heels with a pop of coral on preorder for $129.95 at Steve Madden.  Get free shipping by applying SMFREESHIP at checkout.

Nine West Braxton for $99.95 at Nordstrom with free shipping via coupon code SHOES (exp 4/14/11) or for $99 with free shipping at Nine West.  This pair is also available in a yellow/orange/red combo.

Aldo Dyle again, this time in green, for $100 at Aldo.com.  Coupon code 310687728 takes 10% off, making them $90 (exp 4/1/11).

N.Y.L.A. Daron in turquoise for $84.95 at DSW.  DSW Rewards members can apply GETFAVES at checkout for $15 off $74, $30 off $149 or $50 off $199 (exp 4/4/11).  That makes this pair $69.95.

Please note that prices and promotions are subject to change at any time.

Dolce Vita Marilyn knockoff, the N.Y.L.A. Webebe + DSW coupon

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

DSW is dishing out the discounts right now with their new coupon code TOPTIER, which takes $10 off $49, $25 off $99 and $50 off $199 at checkout if you sign in to your DSW account.  There’s definitely something for everyone in their wide selection of women’s shoes, but I spotted a new arrival that’s a dead ringer for the Dolce Vita boots Miley Cyrus and Kim Cattrall (as Samantha Jones) wore in Sex and the City 2.  The Dolce Vita Marilyn from the movie is all but sold out – as is the lookalike version from Bebe, the Bebe Jenna – but now we have another style for anyone who wants to rock a tall strappy boot with a bedazzled minidress (or, perhaps, jeans).  It’s the N.Y.L.A. Webebe in tan, black or grey and DSW has them priced at $129.95.  With the code, your total drops to $104.95.  That’s quite a bit less than the Bebe or the Dolce Vita boots and you can also get free shipping by adding SHIPR along with the other coupon.  The TOPTIER coupon expires 7/26/10 and doesn’t apply to Skechers Shape-Ups or Reebok Easy Tones.

Shoes Whitney Port wore to Sex & the City 2 premier & MTV Movie Awards

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

On this season of MTV’s The City, we’ve seen Whitney Port hard at work on her Whitney Eve clothing line and she’s definitely had her share of success – like showing her designs at Bryant Park during Fashion Week and scoring deals with companies like Rue La La and Maybelline – but we’ve also seen her endure some criticism from the fashion world and fellow unsupportive castmate Olivia, whose fate at Elle is definitely hanging by a thread at this point (leaving anticipation high for a potential firing).  But, we all know that looking fabulous is the best revenge and Whitney did just that while attending the MTV Movie Awards and the premier of Sex and the City 2.  I love both of these looks on her and, of course, I had to notice the shoes.  At first glance, I thought her SATC 2 shoes (with the black dress) might be the Christian Louboutin Coussin, but a closer look revealed them to be this pair:

This is the Charlie My Love ATM Knotted Woven Bootie and it’s available at Shopbop for $268.80, marked down from $384.  That’s certainly a lot less than the $1,595 Louboutin bootie, but you can save some money and get a similar look with this pair:

Boutique 9 Val for $199 at Shoe Woo.  If you buy 2 pairs, get 20% off automatically at checkout until 6/14/10.

Or, save even more with the N.Y.L.A. Isabel bootie in black, which is $76.98 at Target.

On to the next pair:

Whitney reaffirms her love for the cage at the MTV Movie Awards by pairing her yellow dress with bronze Sergio Rossi Scalloped Booties, which are available at Neiman Marcus for $850.  For less expensive alternatives, try these:

Calvin Klein Dylan for $119 at Shoes.com.  Get 20% off with coupon code VISA for a limited time, which reduces them to $95.20 with free shipping.

Mixx Chloe 01 for $44 at LuLu’s.

Martinez Valero Courtney for $96.22 with free 2-day shipping at Endless.

Update: This Cut-Out High Heel Bootie scallop cage shoe for $40 at GoJane is even more similar.  It comes in purple, grey or black.

More or Less: Miu Miu Forma knockoff, the N.Y.L.A. Megu

Monday, June 7th, 2010

When I spotted this N.Y.L.A. Megu platform sandal (pictured above), I recognized it as a lookalike version of a style from one of the hottest luxury designer shoe brands around, Miu Miu.  More specifically, this pair:

The Miu Miu Forma cutout sandal is a super-sexy statement shoe worn by several celebrities, as seen on Coolspotters.  They actually look even better worn – personally, I like Katy Perry’s out-on-the-town look – but they appear to be sold out online (except for a size 11 at Net-a-Porter).  Plus, their $755 price tag will make quite a statement on the bank account, not just the feet.  The N.Y.L.A. Megu replicates the look and it’s far less expensive.  DSW offers this pair for $89.95 in black or gold and you can get free shipping if you log in to your DSW account and apply code SHIPR during checkout.  Or, try Endless for even more color options.  They have pink, brown, silver, black and bone versions for $119.95 with free overnight shipping.  The DSW coupon expires 7/6/10.

Update: Here’s another option at an even lower price.  GoJane has the Cut-Out Design Open Toe Platform in black, brown or red for $31.90.
