Weekend Shoe Sales: Flip Flops, FitFlops, ToneUps & more

Saturday, May 22nd, 2010

You may plan on buying some shoes this weekend, but you can also make your piggy bank happy in the process.  I’ve rounded up some shoe shopping discounts that will put a smile on your face and keep your little piggy nice and full, metaphorically speaking.  Here’s what I found:

Piperlime is having their Sweet Deal Event that takes up to 30% off a selection of women’s shoes.  There are plenty of styles to choose from, but I noticed a good price on the FitFlop Walkstar in red, which is on sale for $28.50 with free shipping (regularly $50).  That’s practically in Cheap Chick territory (i.e. under $25).  The sale ends 5/30/10.

Old Navy has a selection of cheap flip flops for throwing on at the pool or beach (or anywhere else for that matter). Their classic flops are normally $3.50, but for a limited time you can get 2 pairs for $4 or choose from select colors that are $1.49 a pair.  There are also additional styles listed on this page that are 2 for $5.  If you plan to spend at least $75 on your order, get 15% off and free shipping with coupon code ONCAMP15 until 5/23/10.  There’s also a similar deal at American Eagle.  Buy any pair of shorts and get a select pair of flip flops for $1 for a limited time.

6pm is having their latest round of brand-specific shoe sales, including MIA shoes for up to 65% off, I like the cute fringe MIA Hannah pump, which is marked down to $24.68 (MSRP $73).  The sale expires 5/23/10.

Famous Footwear takes an additional 20% off any order, even sale shoes, when you use coupon code USWEEKLY at checkout.  I noticed that their Skechers Tone-Ups, which are similar to the FitFlop, are discounted to a super-low price.  Originally $54.99, the Skechers Cali Tone-Ups are on sale for $29.99 and reduced even further to $23.99 after applying the code.  The coupon expires 5/31/10.

Shoesteal always has great discounts on shoes and you can get an even better price when you apply coupon code SUNSTEAL for another 15% off.  I noticed some heavily discounted L.A.M.B. shoes, like the L.A.M.B. Gypsy for $142.80 (originally $356.99).  After the code, get them for $121.38.  Sizes are limited for most styles, but you can check out all of their L.A.M.B. shoes and choose your size at the top to narrow it down to what’s available for you. The coupon expires 6/30/10.

More shoes coupons & sales:

25% off and free shipping at Shoebuy with code EMAILFRIENDS10 until 5/23/10.

20% off and free shipping at Shoes.com with code VISA until 10/31/10.

Buy 1 pair of shoes, get the 2nd pair for $15 at Charlotte Russe.

15% off regular prices and 20% off sale and clearance with code BIG at Lord & Taylor.

Happy shoe shopping!

More or Less: MBT knockoffs from TheraShoe

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

MBT

You’ve probably heard of MBT shoes, the “anti-shoe” that replicates barefoot walking on soft, natural ground, which is supposed to provide a natural shock absorbing effect, increased muscle tone, better posture and more.  The health benefits touted by MBT shoes – along with similar fitness footwear like FitFlops, Skechers Shapeups and Earth Exerfit – are certainly impressive, but not entirely proven.  So, the question remains – do they actually work?  This article I found called Shoes That Help You Lose Weight? discusses the conflicting opinions on this subject.

TheraShoe

Not to mention, these shoes are quite expensive compared to most regular walking shoes or flip flops.  MBT shoes are usually in the range of $250, while Skechers Shapeups are typically $100 and FitFlops are $50-$60 (although I have seen FitFlops for $25 on sale).  If you’re already convinced of their fat-burning power, these shoes could most definitely be worth the money.  But, if you’re a bit on the fence, you might be glad to hear about an inexpensive MBT knockoff on the market called TheraShoe.  The TheraShoe website essentially boasts the same benefits as other fitness footwear, but they are sold at a fraction of the cost.  TheraShoe styles are sold exclusively at Kmart for $19.99 to $34.99 and there are a few different styles to choose from – sneaker, clog, bootie and even a flip flop that looks just like the FitFlop (but these are virtually sold out).  I can’t vouch for the differences in the more expensive brands versus TheraShoe, but it’s a good option for anyone who wants to give fitness footwear a try on the cheap.

Get an additional 10% off any shoes order at Kmart, including TheraShoe, using coupon code SHOES10P until 1/31/10.

$25 FitFlops sale at Macy’s

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

I just posted about the shoe sales going on at Macy’s, but I also had to mention their FitFlop sale.  The FitFlop Walkstar Jelly Sandal is marked down to $29.99 and you get an extra 15% off one pair of shoes at checkout (or 25% off 2 pairs & 30% off 3 or more).  The 15% discount reduces them to $25.49 (originally $59.99).  They come in yellow, green or red.  Sale ends 10/12/09.

Update: The above sale is expired, but the current Macy’s 1-Day Sale has the FitFlop marked down to $29.99 again until 10/24/09.

$29.99 FitFlops Sale at Macys + extra 25% off clearance shoes

Friday, September 11th, 2009

I was talking about FitFlop boots the other day and how I’m a bit hesitant to try them.  $200 is a lot to spend, after all.  But, the FitFlop sandal is a way more affordable option that provides the same range of fitness benefits.  Normally $59.99, the FitFlop Walkstar Jelly is now on clearance for just $29.99 during the Macys One Day Sale.  There are still several sizes left, but only in red, yellow and green.  The sale ends tomorrow 9/12/09.

Looking for something different?  Check out the rest of the clearance shoes at Macys, which are all reduced an extra 25% until tomorrow.  Another activewear pair to check out is this Easy Spirit Traveltime Quilted Clog Sneaker for $29.99, reduced from $59.

Pre-order FitFlop Boots at Walker’s Warehouse

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Most of us know about the FitFlop, a flip flop style fitness shoe that touts a much improved workout when you walk in them via increased muscle activity and toning, along with improved posture.  They call it a flip flop with the gym built in.  But, if you’re like me, you probably didn’t know they made boots, at least not of the mid-calf, double-faced sheepskin and suede variety.  I ran across these FitFlop Unik boots at Walker’s Warehouse, where they are taking pre-orders for $199.95.  They come in tan, chocolate and black and shipping is free using their current FITFLOPS coupon code.  Other new fall FitFlops are available as well.  Expected delivery is late September.

I’ve always been a little on the fence about trying these types of shoes.  For one, it would require actually walking in them (those treks from the living room to the restroom clearly won’t cut it).  Even if that’s being done regularly, I’d have to wonder how much improvement the shoe provides and how much is due to exercising more in general.  But, I try to keep an open mind and I think the boots are cute, so I’m tempted to try them out.

Anyone out there have good luck with FitFlops or other similar pairs?
