Flower Power: Floral shoes that celebrate spring

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011

Spring officially sprung over the weekend and, to me, there’s no better way to usher in the season than with some freshly picked flower shoes.  After all, when things start blooming, we naturally want to put a little spring in our step too, so we wear shoes that reflect the great outdoors.  That’s why we tend to see a wide array of pretty floral print and flower embellished shoes around this time of year and, whether you want to apply a little bit of blossom detail or go all out with dramatic blooms, there’s definitely something for everyone.  Here are the shoes that have me catching a serious case of spring fever:

Ladies who Louboutin: Shoes worn by Lisa & Camille on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

Wednesday, November 24th, 2010

I’m a self-proclaimed addict of the Real Housewives franchise on Bravo, so naturally I’m tuning in to the latest addition to the series: the Beverly Hills cast!  I’m pretty convinced that Bravo isn’t going to stop until we know just how every well-to-do woman lives, spends her money and catfights across every major city in the country (or the world, for that matter), but so far I’m along for the ride.  Of course, I could get all analytical and talk about how the show highlights the fact that money doesn’t necessarily bring happiness and security – these ladies all have their share of problems, let’s face it – but I’m much more interested in talking about the shoes.  Like previous housewives, the latest crop of ladies love their Louboutins – and who can blame them?  In the last episode, “The Art of War”, I spotted two housewives wearing the brand on the show and I had to find the shoes, along with some lower-priced lookalikes.  Let’s check it out:

Lisa VanderPump is an early fave of mine when it comes to the Beverly Hills cast.  She’s the posh, but likeable, housewife whose dog, named Giggy the Pom, blogs on and has his own Twitter page – you know, just your average pooch.  While searching for what to wear to the premiere of Kelsey Grammer’s play La Cage Aux Folles on Broadway, we see Lisa wearing this shoe while trying clothes for the event:

This is the Christian Louboutin Poseidon and it was once available for $1,195 at Saks Fifth Avenue, but now appears to be sold out everywhere online.  For a similar look for less, try these shoes:

The Miss Me Jocelyn-22 for $59.95 sold by flyJane via Amazon or the Miss Me Nitron for the same price directly from flyJane.

The Carlos by Carlos Santana Pleasure in pewter for $54.45 with free 2-day shipping from Endless.

The Stuart Weitzman Avalon in natural python for $199 (regularly $398) at Jildor or in Buff Mica Python for $200 at 6pm.

Then there’s Camille Grammer, who is primarily known for being the wife of Kelsey Grammer (and we all know how that turns out), but is already making a name for herself on the show because she’s perfect for stirring up a little drama.  She vamps it up for Kelsey’s premiere in these hot pink satin Louboutins, which add a nice splash of color to her LBD (emphasis on the “L”):

This appears to be the pink version of the Christian Louboutin Greissimo, which I could only find on the UK site Cricket Liverpool.  But, here are some shoes that are very Camille and much less expensive:

This is the Bebe Lola in pink, available at for $149.

There’s also this feisty pink pump, the Martinez Valero Carolina for $81.75 with free shipping at Zappos.

By the way, if you found yourself seriously tempted by the chocolate Louboutins Lisa bought in an earlier episode, check out the chocolate shoes (sans red sole) over at Gayle’s Chocolates for $40 – $45 a piece.  It’s definitely a nice gift option for any shoe lover friends you might have.  Or, you know, for yourself.

Message from Princess: Lucky green shoes for St. Patrick’s Day

Monday, March 8th, 2010

With St. Patrick’s Day coming up on March 17, I’ve definitely had green shoes on my mind.  While some people don’t necessarily do anything to celebrate the holiday, I think it’s fun to get in the spirit by wearing something green (plus, you’ll avoid a good pinch by St. Patty’s Day revelers on the prowl for anyone not donning the hue).  There are lots of ways to incorporate green into your wardrobe for the Irish holiday, but let’s face it – it’s a great excuse to wear some fabulous green shoes.  Of course, as an added benefit, you can get plenty of wear from a freshly-picked green pair during spring as well.  Here are some of my favorite green shoes that are sure to bring plenty of luck:

So. cute.  The Harajuku Lovers Avallon for $99.95 with free 2-day shipping at Endless.

Fergie Empower in spinach for $99 at with free shipping.  Apply coupon code MSAVE for 20% off, making them $79.20.  They also come in a lighter shade of green called wheatgrass.

Carlos Santana Glamorous for $55.20 (MSRP $110) at 6pm.

Get a little funky with the Naughty Monkey Knot Sure in green.  The best price is at Amazon for $20-$28 depending on selection, but few sizes are left.  Zappos has them in plenty of sizes for $68.95.

Get even funkier with the Irregular Choice Shimmmy, which will obviously stand out in a major way.  Get these for $120.95 with free 2-day shipping at Endless.

Go for simple and sweet with the Miss Me Monet-5 ankle boot for $39.95 with free shipping from Amazon.

Nine West Beaulah for $83.97 (MSRP $119.95) at 6pm.

The elegant Calvin Klein Daliah for $71 (MSRP $118) at 6pm.

This one strikes me as having a true St. Patty’s Day vibe.  The Carlos Santana Rome for $89 with free shipping at  Coupon code MSAVE takes them down to $71.20.

Spring-ready: The SM Ven Rosette Wedge in green for $39.95 at DSW.  Take $10 off orders $10 or more with coupon code MARCH10 at checkout (must sign in to use codes), making them $29.95.

Michael Antonio Hagen for $64.95 with free overnight shipping at Endless.

Seychelles Yin for $46 (MSRP $80) at 6pm.

Now, here’s a few of Cheap Chick’s picks for green shoes under $25.  These are all from 6pm:

Steven by Steve Madden Tummble for $22.35 (MSRP $149).

Converse Chuck Taylor Seasonal Hi in green for $23.29 (MSRP $45).

Zigi NY Gemma for $17.98 (MSRP $44.95).

Schutz 31601002 for $17.40 (MSRP $116).

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone and may the luck o’ the cute green shoes be with you.

Message from Princess: Holiday shoes I’m thankful for this season

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

When I think of pretty holiday shoes, I think of sparkle, shine, ruffles, bows, sequins and any other fancy adornments that make your feet look like a perfectly wrapped present.  That’s why I’m loving these particular shoes, which are ideal for holiday occasions that require a little something extra and make each step that much merrier.  These pairs have “celebration” written all over them:

Charles by Charles David Spicy for $114.95 at Zappos

You can check out my sequin shoe posts here and here for even more options. I also think the Naughty Monkey Resurrection is a great holiday shoe choice.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!!

Cheap-A-Thon: Cute shoes under $25

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

So, our resident Cheap Chick has been totally nagging at me to do another Cheap-A-Thon, which is a list of cute shoes for extra-low prices.  Our definition of cheap is simple – it’s shoes priced under $25, which we think is a price point virtually everyone considers super-low and it gives this chick quite a challenge when on the hunt.  If you don’t know, Cheap Chick’s sole purpose and desire in life is to find cute, inexpensive shoes and she takes it very seriously – too seriously perhaps.  She may look sweet and innocent, but she does have this bad-little-birdie alter ego that comes out from time to time and, to be honest, I just do what I’m told.  So, on that note, let’s see what Cheap Chick came up with today:

Not Rated To The T pump in red for $19.22 (most sizes).  Also available in pink for $17.98 or blue for $20.17 (most sizes).

Naughty Monkey Elegant Rider in red, grey or black for $19.99-$24.99 depending on size and color selected.

An OTK boot under $20?  Srsly?  Amazon has this Metrostyle Over The Knee Boot for $19.99 in most size/color combinations.  Speaking of Metrostyle, they have a ton of clearance dress shoes and boots and many are under $25.

Rampage Ophelia in red or black at Shoesteal for $24.99.  Get another 15% off with coupon code FALLSTEAL09 until 10/31/09.  Update: Get 20% off instead with code CPNSTEAL until 10/31/09.

Tribeca Prime Dance for $28.99 at Shoesteal.  Coupon code FALLSTEAL09 brings them down to $24.64 (exp. 10/31/09).  Update: Get 20% off instead with code CPNSTEAL until 10/31/09.

CL by Chinese Laundry Yamina for $21.14 at Amazon.

Misbehave by Adi Lace-Up Microsuede Boots in dark brown or camel for $24.99 at Amazon.

Carlos Santana Harem for $24.97 at Smartbargains.

Go Jane Woven Trim Pump for $24.20. has a bunch of shoes under $25, but you know that dress Whitney Port wore on her date with Freddie Fackelmayer on The City recently?  These remind me of that dress, only in shoe form.

ALDO Searchwell boot for $19.98 at Amazon.

Metrostyle Fringed Ankle Boot for $24.99 at Amazon.

Also of note, 6pm has all styles of RSVP shoes for $9.95 and Type Z shoes for $15.95 until 11/1/09.

Happy bargain hunting!
