Inexpensive shoes with flame detail inspired by Prada

Friday, June 1st, 2012

The Prada flame design shoes have been some of the most highly talked about designer shoe styles of the season, so it’s no surprise to see some lower-priced “inspired-by” versions starting to crop up.  Case in point: The Colorblock Flame Wedges that recently landed over at GoJane.  Of course, these shoes aren’t what you would call knockoffs – there are definitely major differences going on between them and any of the Prada flame shoes, but really you can’t directly compare high end designer styles considered by many to be pieces of art to another style that is so vastly different in price.  That being said, for $30, the GoJane pair is a pretty cool little shoe – and one that most definitely won’t break the bank.  It comes in black and neutral (pictured above), plus blue and red/pink versions.  Let’s check out a few different angles:

The bow also has a flame-like shape and definitely adds a unique touch.

Get the Colorblock Flame Wedge for $30 at GoJane.

Update: Another option with even more dramatic flames is the Sole Boutique Posh Calcifer for $66 from Karmaloop.

Have a great weekend!

Shoes with a Cherry on Top: Miu Miu & Anna Sui for Hush Puppies sandals

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012

The moment I first saw the Miu Miu Cherry Flat (above), I completely lamented the fact that I don’t have $595 to spend on flat sandals with glitter cherries.  But, since I don’t – and they are sold out at this point anyway – I figured I would keep my eyes out for more affordable shoe options with a little cherry action going on.

Luckily I didn’t have to wait long thanks to the collaboration of designer Anna Sui and Hush Puppies.  While I’m not drawing any direct comparison between the Miu Miu pair and the Anna Sui x Hush Puppies Cherry Toe Post Sandal – one is clearly more luxe and extravagant while the other has a more casual, laid-back vibe – I do find the cherry detail on the Hush Puppies pair really fresh and fun.  Plus, at a whopping $500 less, these are cherry shoes I can get excited about the possiblity of actually owning, rather than just pining over a unattainable fantasy style (no matter how fabulous they may be).  You can find the Anna Sui x Hush Puppies Cherry Toe Post Sandal in black at Karmaloop for $95.  They also come in red:

Also very notable is this similarly cherrylicious style from the collection:

This is the Anna Sui x Hush Puppies Cherry Toe Loop and it’s available at hushpuppies.com in blue or white for $95.  Sizes are getting a bit limited, so be sure and check them out – that is, if you’re finding yourself in the mood for a little cherry picking too.

Jeffrey Campbell Vicious-Ex & Lancer heels with spikes

Friday, April 20th, 2012

Oh, hello.

I’ve been talking about pretty wedding shoes a lot this week and you gotta love the fancy side of footwear, but sometimes you get in the mood for something a little different.  Something super-fierce…a bit untamed…perhaps even slightly dangerous.  Then I came across this pair:

Jeffrey Campbell never disappoints when it comes to shoes of a wild nature and he answers the call once again with the sexy and spike-studded Jeffrey Campbell Lancer.  Find it for $244.95 at Envishoes or check out Eilatan for their $245.99 black version.

And what’s black and white and red all over (not to mention exceptionally spikey)?

It’s the bold and heel-less Jeffrey Campbell Vicious-Ex.  Lori’s Shoes has it for $204.95, but it appears to be selling out as we speak [sold out], so you can also head over to Envishoes to get it for $214.95.

Update: 4 colors of the Jeffrey Cambell Vicious are available at Solestruck for $209.95, including this pink and black version [sold out in 3 colors].  Nordstrom has the Vicious-N in pink and black for $194.95, but few sizes are left [sold out].  Update 2:  Eilatan has the fuschia / black version [sold out] and red / zebra in stock.  Update 3: Karmaloop has the red / zebra option for $228 [sold out].

Get your spikes out, ladies, it’s time for the weekend!

Spring Shoes with bird detail: Miss L-Fire Bluebird & Irregular Choice

Friday, March 23rd, 2012

Spring officially sprung earlier this week and what better way to celebrate the new season than with a pair of bird shoes?  Yes, that’s right, birds on your shoes.  It may not be the first thing to come to mind when you think of how to express yourself shoe-wise this spring and summer, but after I came across a few really cute and whimsical shoes with bird print, it made total sense to me.  I’ve got a little thing for birds anyway, as does my family, so it’s definitely up my alley and a unique twist on shoes for spring – one that you certainly don’t see all that often.

I saw the pair pictured above, the Miss L-Fire Blubird, first at Modcloth listed as the Tweet of Feet shoe and was a bit disappointed that it sold out so quickly (only size 6 left).  I set out to hunt it down somewhere else (maybe “hunt” isn’t the best choice of words, come to think of it) and found them on the UK-based Miss L-Fire website, but they only have a few sizes left on pre-order.  Then I discovered that Heels.com has it in stock, so if you really love the Miss L-Fire Bluebird, you better shake a tail feather because they could go fast.  You can get them for $89.99 with free shipping.

Want more bird shoes?  Irregular Choice has some options too:

Irregular Choice Fresh Cut Grass in red for $120 at Amazon, in black for $154.99 at Modcloth (listed as Dove Actually), or in red, black, or green for $155 at Musthaveshoes.

Irregular Choice Whoopi in blue for $124.95 with free shipping at Lori’s Shoes or in black for $119.95 at Infinity Shoes with free shipping via coupon code ISFREESHIP (limited time offer).

Update: We have another bird print shoe from Iron Fist, the Iron Fist Birds of a Feather for $59.99 with free shipping at Heels.com.

Update 2: I’m loving this bird print option too.  It’s the Irregular Choice Kupcake for $165 at Karmaloop.

While we’re on the topic of Miss L-Fire shoes, I had to mention some more styles from the brand.  These don’t incorporate the bird theme, but they are definitely lots of fun:

Miss L-Fire Chica Chica Boom rainbow wedge for $119.99 with free shipping at Heels.com.  Also available in black and pink.

Miss L-Fire Gabriella for $135.95 with free shipping at Lori’s Shoes.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Shoes to Love: Heels & Flats with Hearts

Tuesday, February 14th, 2012

It’s Valentine’s Day and I hope love is in the air for everyone, but perhaps a little shoe love is in order.  Something I’m always sweet on is the use of heart detail on shoes.  It doesn’t matter the style of shoe – whether classic or edgy or eclectic or casual – a heart always adds a nice dose of girly romance to the look.  That’s why I’ve rounded up a variety of styles (a little something for everyone, you might say) that all display the ultimate symbol of love in some form or fashion.  One that I’m particularly loving is the Betsey Johnson Glitzeee, a sparkly peep toe pump with heart that’s available for $132.95 with free shipping at Endless.  You also get an extra 20% off at checkout through 2/14/12.  Or, you get them for $132.05 with free shipping at Shoes.com with 20% off via coupon code SECRET20 through 2/15/12.  You can also get it in black with red lips – very appros for Valentine’s Day – as well as star and lightning bolt versions.

If you prefer a flat, you can find the adorable Betsey Johnson Smoooch for $77.99 with free shipping at Zappos.

Another cute flat with heart detail: The Miss Me Mooz-16 in black/red or grey/pink for $15.99 with free shipping at 6pm.

To get a a red sequin heart on the back of a pretty bow pump, try the Iron Fist Jen’s Heart for $54.99 with free shipping at Heels.com.

More from Iron Fist: The Iron Fist Loose Lips (pictured) or the very similar Iron Fist Love Bites, both in leopard prints with heart charm detail.  These shoes are both available at Amazon with prices that vary by size and color.

For a super-sexy vibe, go for the Betsey Johnson Baamm in leopard for $139.99 at Dillards.

Or, the Betsey Johnson Boomm with heart detail on the platform for $84.99 with free shipping at 6pm.

It looks like Cupid’s been paying a visit to Irregular Choice – just check out that heel.  The Irregular Choice Oh Ello, which is $199 at Irregular Choice, has a cutout wedge heel with hearts and an arrow going through the center, plus it’s topped off with a dramatic flower bouquet.  Other styles with this heel include the Irregular Choice Iris Blue and the Irregular Choice Miss Twiss.

Another cute and quirky choice with heart detail from the same brand: The Irregular Choice I’m From Bury for $115 at Irregular Choice (almost sold out) or $139 at Must Have Shoes.

For a platform with an edgy vibe and sweet heart cutout in the heel, check out the T.U.K. A8047L for $114 with free shipping at Endless.  Similar styles include the T.U.K. A8046L in red and black for $114 and the T.U.K. A7877L in leopard for $110.  A 20% discount applies to each of these automatically at checkout through 2/14/12.

Also from the same brand, the T.U.K. A8052L in gold/black or the T.U.K. A8051L in blue/black with heart cutout in the heel, but a lower platform than the styles above.  These are both $104.50 with free shipping and eligible for an automatic 20% off at checkout through 2/14/12.

Finally, if you’re a cowgirl at heart, you’ll love these Durango Crush Heart Boots with heart-shaped cutouts.  They come in red, taupe or black at Amazon with prices from $113 depending on size and color selection.

I hope everyone has a wonderful V-day!

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Reunion Shoes – Red heels on Brandi, Gold glitter heels on Adrienne & more

Thursday, February 9th, 2012

We’re right in the midst of an extra juicy reunion for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 2, having finished two parts of the three part special.  The drama on the show was on a rolling boil all season long and, I must say, it was pretty riveting.  After all is said and done, the ladies have plenty of serious issues to hash out on the reunion but I, for one, am here to talk about the shoes.  Yes, there’s never a shortage of hot designer heels on a Housewives reunion, that’s for sure.  That’s why we’re going to check out what they wore and, if your feeling inspired by something you see, but not by an out-of-range price tag, I also found some similar, but much more affordable styles as options for getting the look for less.  Let’s check it out:

On one side of the room at the reunion, we have (from left) Brandi Glanville, Camille Grammar, and Lisa Vanderpump.  They all really brought it in the shoe department, but I have to give props to Brandi for her royal blue strapless dress with bright red pumps – I love the color combination.  I mean, Eddie Cibrian, who?  Looking gorgeous on a hot TV show is the best revenge, I must say.

It’s hard to go wrong with a spicy red heel and it looks like she is wearing this YSL Trib Too in red patent, which can be found at ysl.com for $795.

For a less expensive alternative, try the Audrey Brooke Samantha for $89.95 at DSW.

If you like the combo of red and blue, you’ll appreciate the blue sole on these.

Another option is the Chinese Laundry Whistle in red patent for $69 with free shipping at Endless.  Spend over $100 on eligible styles, including this one, and get 20% off your order in-cart through 2/14/12.

Camille Grammar is going through a situation similar to Brandi’s after ex Kelsey Grammar left her for another woman, but she seems to be doing just fine.  It was said at the reunion that her show got higher ratings than Kelsey’s show (ooh, burn), she has a younger new man in her life, and she looks fab in her red dress and sparkly Christian Louboutin Lady Peep pumps.  The shoes pictured above are the $4,195 crystal version offered at the official Christian Louboutin site.

For something similar, try the Enzo Angiolini Show You for $160 at Bloomingdales.

On to Lisa Vanderpump, who said she was wearing Giuseppe Zanotti when asked about her shoes at the reunion.  She is wearing the Giuseppe Zanotti Crystallized Suede Platform Slingback, available for $1,370 at Neiman Marcus.  These are AH-mazing, but for something less expensive with a similar look, see the Enzos above or this slingback style:

Perugia 12643 for $69.30 with free shipping at Endless.  Spend over $100 on qualifying styles, including this pair, and save 20% at checkout through 2/14/12.

If you love the ultra happy multi-color version of the Zanottis (pictured left) as much as I do, I came across a closer look-alike for that particular style.  The Sole Obsession Berne (pictured right) isn’t dripping in Swarovski and doesn’t have the coveted Giuseppe Zanotti name, but it does have a similar mix of colors with added sparkle via rhinestones and it’s much more affordably priced at $89.95 at DSW.  There is a black/turquoise/purple version available as well.

On to the other side of the room with (from right) Adrienne Maloof, Taylor Armstrong, and Kyle Richards.

Adrienne Maloof is wearing a style from her Adrienne Maloof by Charles Jourdan shoe line.  Adrienne’s shoes were once available only at Issay.com, but they are also now available at Belk, where this particular style is exclusively sold.   It’s the Adrienne Maloof Shaun Pump and you can get it for $235 in gold or black.

Of course, you may also be wondering about the Vander Pump, a style Lisa Vanderpump created with shoe designer Ryan Haber and the pink heels her daughter Pandora wore on her wedding day.  They were available for pre-order back when the season premiered, as discussed here, but I don’t see them available for sale online right now.  However, those interested in this shoe can see the Ryan Haber site for more info.

There was a little controversy at the reunion over Adrienne and Lisa’s respective shoes when it was brought up that Lisa had previously referred to Adrienne’s shoes as “Maloof Hoof” and then she went on to say it meant “fat little shoe”.  Now, perhaps she was trying to be funny and there are certainly bigger issues going on with the cast than this, but I can see why Adrienne would be a bit miffed about it.

Now, if it were these shoes, I’d totally get it.

Ok, moving on to Taylor Armstrong, who is wearing lovely nude mary jane platform pumps that definitely look YSL, but I couldn’t find a pic of the exact pair.  I do, however, have some look-alikes:

Patent Mary Jane Platform Pump at Charlotte Russe for $30, but on sale for $25 for a limited time.

Sergio Zelcer Wood Platform Pump in tan with red sole for $121.88 with free shipping at Endless.  Spend over $100 on qualifying styles, including this pair, and save 20% at checkout through 2/14/12.

Promise Goodness tan mary jane with blue sole for $37 at LuLus.

Finally, we have Kyle Richards wearing those signature studs on the Valentino Rockmance, which is available at Neiman Marcus for $895.  I couldn’t find anything that looks all that close to this pair, but these more affordable shoes have some similar features:

Jeffrey Campbell Midler for $112.95 at Loris Shoes.

Betsey Johnson Majestee for $110.99 with free shipping at Endless.  Spend over $100 on eligible styles, including this one, and get 20% off your order in-cart through 2/14/12.

That’s all I have for now, but looking forward to part 3: Andy’s big talk with Kim.

Fun Shoes for Friday: Stars & Spikes

Friday, October 21st, 2011

I’m so happy it’s Friday, aren’t you?  In today’s Fun Shoes for Friday, I’m featuring not one, but two amazing shoes that I’ve talked about here on the blog and/or on Facebook before.  But, when there’s a new version of a style and it really stands out, it’s definitely worth another mention.  Like the Sam Edelman Roza, pictured above.  The Roza is very similar to the Sam Edelman Lorissa and it comes in many of the same colors, like nude and black, but it differs with its closed toe and higher 1″ hidden platform.  But, honestly, I’m posting about it today because of the color: the new ruby red suede version is gorgeous.  I love red heels anyway, but it’s even better that it’s a particularly on-trend shade right now and always a great color choice for the holiday season, making it a fierce party shoe option.  You can find it at Nordstrom for $224.95 with free shipping.  Update: You can also find this style at Karmaloop for $225 and get 20% off and free shipping with coupon code HTSauce or TREAT (expiration unknown).

I also had to point out these Aldo star heels again.  I recently professed my admiration for the first pair Aldo released in more muted tones, but they definitely took it up a notch in the glitz department with this version, which is covered in sequins.  Count me in.  You can find the Aldo Hafen at Aldo for $100 and apply coupon code getlucky75985 for 15% off (expiration unknown).

Have a great weekend!
