Find My Shoes: Christian Louboutin Balota lookalikes + wedding shoes

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011

I recently received a request for help finding shoes similar to the Christian Louboutin Balota (the gorgeous shoe you see pictured above) as well as a few requests for wedding shoe ideas, so I figured today would be a good day for a nice little diversion into the land of fancy footwear.  I don’t personally have an occasion that would call for wearing these kind of dressy shoes in the near future, but I have to admit I love looking at them anyway (eye candy!).  So, whether you need some extra-special shoes for a wedding or another event, or if you just want to window shop like me, here are some pretty little things for your feet:

First we have some sparkly and/or glittery strappy sandals that have a similar look to the $1,095 Louboutin Balota, but are far less expensive:

Steve Madden Aillie glitter sandal in champagne for $79.95 at Steve Madden.  Coupon code rmn15f takes 15% off and applies free shipping, making them $67.96 (expiration unknown).

Nine West Elaine in gold for $79 at Nine West.  Shipping is also free for a limited time.  Note that this shoe is currently on preorder and expected to ship by 5/24/11.

Zigi Soho Gala in beige for $79.95 at DSW.  Members get free shipping on $35 with coupon code SHIPR through 8/15/11.

Michael Antonio Thandie in gold for $44.88 with free 2-day shipping from Endless.

Now, let’s talk bridal shoes.  There are so many styles for brides to choose from and so many color options to consider (not just white these days), so today I’m going to hone in on one particular brand that has really caught my eye lately - Menbur

I love so many of their latest shoes and they are tailor-made for gorgeous bridal style, but you certainly don’t have to be getting married to appreciate this brand.  One standout is the Menbur Casanova (above), a total princess shoe with its sparkling, rhinestone-encrusted ankle wrap.  You can find this style for $220 with free overnight shipping from Endless.  Here are some more options from the same brand, each from Endless:

Menbur Ballesio in nude or black for $234 with free overnight shipping.

Menbur Ceylan in grey, black, stone or champagne for $190 with free overnight shipping.

Menbur Bicci in nude, blue, fuchsia or black for $145.90 with free overnight shipping.

Menbur Curran in fuchsia, red, stone or black for $147.90 with free overnight shipping.

Menbur Carmichael in midnight blue (something blue!), black, nude, turquoise and fuchsia for $164 with free overnight shipping.

Check out all of the Menbur styles at Endless for even more options.  Note that prices and shipping information are subject to change at any time.

Britney Spears loves these shoes from I Am The Femme Fatale MTV special

Monday, April 11th, 2011

Britney Spears is back on the music scene in a big way with the release of her new album Femme Fatale, which is currently #1 on the Billboard 200.  The MTV special I Am The Femme Fatale, which aired April 3, gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at Britney getting ready for the release of her latest album and her surprise concert at the Palms Hotel and Casino in Vegas.  I didn’t catch the special, but I did see a clip for it on one of my fave shows, The Soup, that showed Britney admiring a certain pair of shoes her assistant Brett was wearing during their trip to Starbucks.

Her stud heels are the Sam Edelman Lorissa (which I’ve mentioned here quite a few times) in nude and, according to the clip, Britney also owns them in black.  Britney declares her love for these shoes in the special and it certainly makes sense: The phrase femme fatale means “deadly woman” in French and these spike studded shoes are certainly  fit for anyone in a dangerously sexy state of mind.

The popular style has been released in several color options.  You can find them in nude, black leather, black suede, denim or off white at Shoes.com for $199 with free shipping.  Coupon code VISA takes 20% off and makes them $159.20 (may require Visa payment, expires 6/30/11).  Endless has several of the same color versions along with the “truffle” color for $200 with free 2-day shipping.  Solestruck has the Lorissa in bronze snake, grey python, pewter tan snake and rosegold, plus more color options, for $189.95 with free shipping.  I’m loving them all, but I find myself seriously coveting this pair:

This is the pink Sam Edelman Lorissa, which Bloomingdales offers for $225 along with a leopard option for the same price.  Update: The Sam Edelman Lorissa in pink is also available at Piperlime for $200.

Shoes with a pop of color for colorblocking trend

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

We’ve been checking out both neutral shoes and multicolored shoes, but there’s another breed of footwear that combines elements of both.  These shoes have a primarily neutral palette, in shades like taupe, black, white or gray, but then there’s some portion of the shoe that is played up with a nice shot of color.  I love the overall effect this provides and, although there are many ways to wear these shoes, I find it particularly relevant for the colorblocking trend we’re seeing for spring (as noted on Stylelist).  If you’re experimenting with this trend by combining various contrasting color combinations in your clothing, you might opt to incorporate just a touch of one of those shades in your shoes to bring it all together.  Or, if you’re hesitant to try colorblocking with your clothes, some of these shoes have more than one hue, meaning the trend is already built-in and ready to go with any look you choose.   I’m loving the Pelle Moda Franky (above) with a pop of bright orange, which can be found for $162 with free shipping at Lori’s Shoes or for $180 with free shipping at Shopbop.  Here are some more options, in both warm and cool shades:

Aldo Dyle rubber sole wedge with a pop of yellow for $100 at Aldo.  Coupon code 310687728 takes 10% off, making them $90 (exp 4/1/11).  Note: If you’re obsessed with those Prada rubber sole wedges (like the $695 Prada Mary Jane Wedge) but can’t shell out the big bucks for them, this is a nice alternative for much less.

Aldo Heister platform sandals with a pop of orange or yellow for $100 at Aldo.com.  Coupon code 310687728 takes 10% off, making them $90 (exp 4/1/11).

Nine West Stylin colorblock sandals in dark pink and orange for $89 at Nine West (ships 4/26).  Shipping is also free for a limited time.

Fergie Bold heels with a pop of yellow for $99 with free shipping from Shoes.com.  Get 20% off your order, making these $79.20, with coupon code SECRET20 (exp 3/31/11).

Madison Harding Casey wedge with a pop of yellow for $235 with free shipping from Piperlime.

Jeffrey Campbell San Diego colorblock sandals in orange and yellow for $135 at Nasty Gal.

Topshop Luminate sandals with a pop of pink for $145 with free shipping at Topshop.

Steve Madden Bellahh heels with a pop of coral on preorder for $129.95 at Steve Madden.  Get free shipping by applying SMFREESHIP at checkout.

Nine West Braxton for $99.95 at Nordstrom with free shipping via coupon code SHOES (exp 4/14/11) or for $99 with free shipping at Nine West.  This pair is also available in a yellow/orange/red combo.

Aldo Dyle again, this time in green, for $100 at Aldo.com.  Coupon code 310687728 takes 10% off, making them $90 (exp 4/1/11).

N.Y.L.A. Daron in turquoise for $84.95 at DSW.  DSW Rewards members can apply GETFAVES at checkout for $15 off $74, $30 off $149 or $50 off $199 (exp 4/4/11).  That makes this pair $69.95.

Please note that prices and promotions are subject to change at any time.

Fun Shoes for Friday: Senso Sahara, Senso Wilma in pink leopard & more at Karmaloop

Friday, March 25th, 2011

I normally feature one shoe on Friday that’s tailor-made for going out, but today must be a deluxe edition because I had to post more than one shoe from Senso.  If you regularly browse the selection over at Solestruck, you’ve likely already seen this brand (I’ve also mentioned them here and here).  But, as of earlier this week, you can also find them at Karmaloop, which is nice since Karmaloop seems to always have coupons available to discount your purchase.  These shoes aren’t just for going out, they’re for going ALL out - the kind that get noticed everywhere they step.  Are they practical?  Well, no.  But, making a statement can trump being sensible more than we care to admit.  So, if you’re up for something bold and edgy to hit the town in, check out these styles at Karmaloop:

Senso Sahara, my fave, in multi for $198.

Senso Wilma in hot pink leopard, pewter glitter or tan leopard for $200.  This is one of the styles we’ve also seen at Solestruck, but they are very close to being sold out right now.

Senso Sally in purple for $198.

Senso Neve in Kaleidoscope Black for $235.  We’ve seen this style before too, but this particular color is exclusive to Karmaloop.  It also comes in Black Nappa and Gun Metal.

Senso Rush glitter wedge for $175.

See all of the styles from Senso Diffusion at Karmaloop for more options.  Then, get a sweet discount via coupon code PDYAL9 which takes 15% off $80 and gives free shipping.  The coupon expires 3/27/11.

For more shoe savings, check out these sales and coupons:

Rock & Republic shoes under $50: YOOX is having a clearance sale that takes up to 85% off sale items, including clearance designer shoes.  There are tons of options, but I noticed there are quite a few Rock & Republic styles marked way down.  Normally $145-$180, these styles are now $40-$49 with free shipping.

Shoes.com: Get 20% off your order, even on sale items, with coupon code SECRET20 through 3/31/11.  Some exclusions apply.

Chinese Laundry: Get 25% off sale shoes with coupon code 25MAR11 through 3/31/11.

Have a great weekend!

Pink sparkly shoes inspired by Jennifer Lopez on American Idol Top 11 episode

Thursday, March 24th, 2011

Jennifer Lopez has provided style inspiration for many, many people throughout her career and that’s why it’s so fun to watch her on American Idol.  You never really know what kind of look she’ll be wearing, but we do know that she never shies away from the bling - and I love that about her.  She looked so feminine and pretty in her pink sequin top last night on American Idol (on 3/23/11), that I had to feature some footwear inspired by her look.  Take a cue from JLo and infuse something sparkly and pink in your own life with one of these shoes:

Bakers Victoria G pink glitter heels for $85 with free shipping at Bakers.

Chinese Laundry Hot Hot peep toe pumps in blush glitter for $69 with free shipping at Zappos.

Lose the heel, but not the shine, with the Bakers Glitz pink glitter flats for $42 at Bakers.

Flower Power: Floral shoes that celebrate spring

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011

Spring officially sprung over the weekend and, to me, there’s no better way to usher in the season than with some freshly picked flower shoes.  After all, when things start blooming, we naturally want to put a little spring in our step too, so we wear shoes that reflect the great outdoors.  That’s why we tend to see a wide array of pretty floral print and flower embellished shoes around this time of year and, whether you want to apply a little bit of blossom detail or go all out with dramatic blooms, there’s definitely something for everyone.  Here are the shoes that have me catching a serious case of spring fever:

Jeffrey Campbell Swansong floral sandal for $112 at Lori’s Shoes.  Shipping is free on orders $150 or more.

Carlos by Carlos Santana Destiny floral pumps for $89 with free shipping at Shoes.com.  Use coupon code VISA for 20% off (exp 6/30/11, may require Visa payment) or code SAVINGS15 for 15% off (exp 3/31/11).

Seychelles Matter of Fact floral wedge for $95 with free shipping at Shoes.com.  Use coupon code VISA for 20% off (exp 6/30/11, may require Visa payment) or code SAVINGS15 for 15% off (exp 3/31/11).  I also like the black version, which is available at Zappos for $100 with free shipping.

Zigi Soho Superb floral heel for $89.95 at DSW.  Members get free shipping on $35 with coupon code SHIPR (exp 8/15/11).

Betsey Johnson Ditan floral heel with lace-up detail for $99.95 with free shipping at Amazon.  It appears this style is eligible for the current 25% off $50 or more promotion, which would make them $74.96 at checkout instead (expires 3/31/11).

Mojo Moxy Poppy flower pump for $80 with free shipping at Bakers.

B.O.C. Moniz flower flats on sale for $49.99 at Famous Footwear.  Get another 15% off with coupon code MARCH11 (exp 3/26/11).

Rampage Rhetta flower sandal for $39.95 at DSW.  Members get free shipping on $35 with coupon code SHIPR (exp 8/15/11).

Steve Madden Karmenaf floral platform pumps for $129.95 at Steve Madden.  Get free shipping with their SMFREESHIP coupon at checkout.

Irregular Choice Zohan floral wedge for $154.99 with free shipping at Heels.com.  Update: Get $50 off $150 with coupon code FLY50 (exp 3/23/11 at 6 pm ET).

Luichiny Made It flower wedge for $79.16 in blue with free shipping at Zappos.

Rampage Grayson flower peep toe heels for $49 with free shipping at Shoes.com.  Use coupon code VISA for 20% off (exp 6/30/11, may require Visa payment) or code SAVINGS15 for 15% off (exp 3/31/11).

Update: Here’s another one, the Steve Madden Wildd for $129.95 at Stevemadden.com (currently on preorder).

Update 2: Here’s another pair I had to add: the too-cute Nine West Bahia for $99 with free overnight shipping at Endless.

Note that prices and promotions are subject to change.

Fun Shoes for Friday: Rachel Roy Eviana tie-dye heels

Friday, March 4th, 2011

I’ve had tie-dye shoes on my radar ever since Gwyneth Paltrow attended the Country Music Awards late last year wearing an all-out glam Versace gown paired with tie-dye heels by Christian Louboutin.  It was a somewhat unexpected choice for her shoes, since tie-dye is normally considered a more casual, boho look, but they coordinated perfectly with the ombre effect of her dress.  It’s an example of tie-dye gone fancy, but I loved the look and that’s why I’m also loving these adorable Rachel Rachel Roy Eviana heels.  Although I won’t be donning Versace with Louboutins à la Gwyneth anytime soon, these shoes convey a similar, more casual look that would work well with cute little spring dresses, jeans, leggings or pretty much anything else you can think of.  They also go along nicely with the spring denim trend I mentioned before.  You can get them at Rachel Roy for $99 or at Macy’s for the same price.  This pretty pink and grey reptile version is available as well:

I hope everyone has a great weekend!
