Find Shania Twain’s Calvin Klein wedding shoes at 6pm

Tuesday, January 11th, 2011

Country star Shania Twain just got married on New Year’s Day of this year and, as always, she looks radiant and beautiful, but even more so pictured here on her wedding day (love that black sash!).  I’m glad to see that she’s moved on and found happiness after that “Mutt” guy she was previously married to cheated on her with her best friend.  What a dog.  Anyway, she married Frederic Thiebaud (the former husband of the ex-best friend), who is seen here carrying her white strappy Calvin Klein wedding shoes as they walk down the beach.  I recognized this pair as the Calvin Klein Dylan, a style that I’ve featured here before:

If you’re a bride-to-be and want to wear the same shoes Shania wore for your own big day, you’re in luck: the Calvin Klein Dylan is available in both white re-color satin and ivory satin at 6pm for 50% off retail at $59.50.  Of course, you don’t have to be a bride to wear these in white, but if you’re looking for the same style in different colors, 6pm also offers black, a metallic gold color called platino and a black/cream multi version with prices ranging from $56.38 - $65.45.  Note that all prices are subject to change.

More or Less: Alexander McQueen canvas fold-over boots knockoff, the Zigi Soho Miranda

Friday, October 1st, 2010

Many of us covet Alexander McQueen shoes, but few of us actually have the funds to pull off buying a pair.  The Alexander McQueen fold-over boots in olive pictured above originally retailed for $1,085 and were once found at Net-A-Porter, but they are now sold out and I don’t see them for sale anywhere else.  But, there’s a new arrival at DSW with a similar look and a much lower price:

This is the Zigi Soho Miranda and it’s clearly inspired by the McQueen boot, although there are obvious differences in the quality of the materials and other details, like no signature McQueen skull zipper (which, personally, I’m glad they didn’t replicate).  But, there’s also a huge difference in price.  You can get this pair for $79.95 at DSW and apply coupon code SAVEUP to get $5 off one pair, $15 off two or $20 off three at checkout (requires sign in).  Then you can rock the current military trend for fall and add some McQueen-inspired edginess to your look for a lot less.  There’s also a tan and off-white version available:

The above coupon expires 10/4/10.  DSW members can also apply coupon SHIPR to get free shipping on $35 until 12/17/10.

Boots to love for fall: Seychelles Falcon Ankle Boot

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

I heard that summer officially ends today, so I figured it was definitely time to get some boots on the brain.  Luckily, I happened to find a style that I already personally love, the Seychelles Falcon that I spotted at both Karmaloop and Endless.  It’s definitely a great transistional boot for the upcoming season with its peep toe, light suede color and feminine details - like the whipstitching and lace-up front - but it also exudes a modern vibe with its flaired leather cuff.  I’m loving it and, if you are too, check it out for $149.95 with free overnight shipping at Endless with an additional 20% off using coupon code BOOTFALL20 (exp. unknown).  Or, get it for $150 at Karmaloop with an extra 20% off and free shipping using coupon code SAVE20 (exp. unknown).  That drops it to around $120 at either store and, in addition to the “mushroom” color, it also comes in black at Endless.

Let the boots begin!!

More shoes seen at the 2010 MTV VMAs + similar looks for less

Thursday, September 16th, 2010

Everyone knows that the MTV Video Music Awards are just as much about the fashion as they are about the music - the two literally go hand in hand. After finding one of the shoes Chelsea Handler wore while hosting the show, I’ve continued to check out more shoe styles seen on celebs at the event. Of course, Lady Gaga had to outdo everyone in the most outrageous way possible by wearing a dress and shoes made of real meat:

This is definitely a statement-making choice (to say the least), but one that I doubt anyone will want to emulate for themselves.  If you do want to get the look, see this MTV Style article for details on how they were created and consult with your local butcher (and, please, send pictures!).  In addition to wearing beef, Gaga wore the iconic Alexander McQueen armadillo shoes (pictured, top), the same style featured in her Bad Romance video, which won Video of the Year.

There isn’t anything quite like the McQueen heels, but these Senso Neve shoes in snake are a real-life alternative to get that edgy, Gaga-esque style for less.  They are also a look-alike for the Acne Admire, as I found on Nitrolicious.  Get them on pre-order for $199.95 at Solestruck.

While I do enjoy watching Gaga and her wild fashion choices, there were other stars wearing much more wearable shoes that we could all potentially rock in real life - that is, if we have the cash flow for the pricey designer brands they opt for.  That’s why I’ve also found some similar, but less expensive alternatives for those who love the looks seen at the VMAs, but need something more affordable.  Let’s check it out:

Selena Gomez wore a gorgeous silver dress and kept the metallic theme going head-to-toe with her silver Brian Atwood Kendall shoes.  I can’t find these available for sale online, but here are a couple options for less:

Charles by Charles David Risque (left) for $47.25 at 6pm and the Chinese Laundry Fire It Up (right) for $49.99 at Dillards.

Hayley Williams of Paramore wore the Miu Miu Spectator Pump, available at Bergdorf Goodman for $650.  Save some money and get a similar look with these shoes:

Samanta Amay for $199.95 with free overnight shipping at Endless.

Audrina Patridge opted for the Balmain Metallic Rhinestone Pump, which is available at Barneys for $2,300.  Get something much less pricey with these shoes:

Michael Antonio Reza for $98.95 at Shoebuy.  Coupon code EMLFALLKICKOFF10 takes 20% off for a limited time, making them $79.16 with free shipping.  But, there are a few sizes at Amazon for only $47.98 with free shipping.

JWoww of Jersey Shore sported a more toned-down look than usual, which looks good on her, and I’m definitely loving the shoes.  I think these are Jimmy Choo, although I couldn’t locate the exact pair.  But, here’s a sparkly option for less:

Enzo Angiolini Merryann for $79.95 at Nordstrom.

Update: It looks like she could be wearing the Jimmy Choo Crown, which is $695 at Saks:

Or, possibly, the Enzo Angiolini Sully for $88.95 at Nordstrom:

Here’s another lookalike without a peep toe, the Enzo Angiolini Smiles, which is also sold at Nordstrom:

Twighlight’s Ashley Greene and singer Kei$ha both wore closed-toe black patent pumps to the VMA’s.  I’m not sure of the designer for either of these shoes, but here’s a similar pair for an affordable price:

Aldo Moos for $80 at Aldo.com.

Any more shoes from the VMAs you want to know about?  Let me know and I’ll do my best to find them!

Audrina Patridge wears BCBGeneration Belboa shoes

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

Audrina Patridge of MTV’s The Hills was at a recent John Frieda and BCBG event rocking a hot pair of knotted wedge shoes with her purple and white dress.  Like this look?  Her shoes are the stylish and affordable BCBGeneration Belboa and you can find them at Shoes.com.  They are $99 in light clay (pictured above), flamingo pink or black and you get 20% off by applying coupon code VISA at checkout.  That’ll drop your total to $79.20 with free shipping.  Sizes in the light clay version are getting a bit limited, but they are also available at Zappos, Shoebuy and Shoemall, plus a few other stores.

Shoes Siobhan wears on Idol Gives Back show

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

I’ve been talking about the shoes Siobhan Magnus wears on American Idol quite a bit lately because, as a shoe lover, I tend to notice shoes on TV and I also think she has a unique sense of style that stands out.  While watching the Idol Gives Back show, where the contestants were dressed in all white, I saw that she was wearing this pair of cool pair of wedge shoes that have a heel cutout and a lace-up front:

I actually didn’t try to find these shoes, but while hunting for another pair, I happened to come across the Steve Madden Wyndi canvas bootie and instantly recognized them as the shoes Siobhan wore.  Or, at the very least, they are very similar:

You can find these kicks at stevemadden.com, where they are sold in 3 color options for $149.95.  Get free shipping by entering coupon code SMFREESHIP at checkout.

Siobhan Magnus shoes from American Idol Elvis week

Friday, April 16th, 2010

Siobhan Magnus is definitely one of the most unique and talented contestants on American Idol this year and, although Crystal is my current fave, I think Siobhan is fun to watch.  Even if her performances don’t always hit the mark for me, she certainly knows how to stand out.  In addition to her singing (and infamous “screaming”), she also distinguishes herself from the crowd through fashion.  Siobhan’s style on the show is quirky and eclectic - she definitely has an 80’s vibe going on and it’s mixed up with a little urban edge (she wore Missy Elliot boots on a previous show) and a bit of geek-chic with her Molly Ringwald-esque glasses and hair.  This past week, during the Elvis show, I definitely took notice of her super-strappy white wedge shoes (pictured above) and I had set out to find them.  My first thought was Jeffrey Campbell, but I couldn’t locate the exact pair.  However, I did find one that is very similar:

It’s called the Jeffrey Campbell Polish and it’s on sale for $119.95 (originally $169.95) at Solestruck.  I’m not sure if this shoe was ever made in white and I noticed Siobhan’s pair had rhinestones (or something similarly shiny) across a few of the straps, so it could be a totally different shoe.  Then again, it could be a version of the Polish that will be available for sale in the future.  After all, you never know what kind of pre-sale hookups the American Idol stylists have, but we’ll have to wait and see.

In the meantime, here are some more lookalikes for Siobhan’s shoes:

Aldo Gutenson in gray or black for $100 at Aldo.com.  Coupon code 142434083 takes 10% off (expiration unknown) and shipping is $5 or free if you spend over $100.

Steven Reana in taupe or black for $129.95 at Steve Madden.  Use coupon code SMFREESHIP for free shipping.

Jeffrey Campbell The Ember for $118 at Karmaloop.  Coupon code CLINTON takes 20% off (expiration unknown).

Aldo Blandon in taupe or black for $100 at Aldo.  Coupon code 142434083 takes 10% off (expiration unknown) and shipping is $5 or free if you spend over $100.

On a related note, you can read more about the American Idol women’s stylist, Soyon An - and how she works with a $400 per contestant per week budget - over at StyleList.  Soyon often finds items from affordable stores like Aldo, Bebe and Forever 21 for the outfits you see on the show.

Update: I found out in the American Idol style section that the pair Siobhan wore on the show was originally black, but it was customized to white with a lightning bolt to complete her look, so it appears the shoe may have been the Polish after all!
