Sparkly multicolor shoes from Gianni Bini

Thursday, July 5th, 2012

If the only thing you like better than a mix of bold colors on a pair of shoes is a mix of bold colors with plenty of all-over sparkle, then I’ve got some styles for you.  I noticed the Gianni Bini brand offers some options that provide this look and, what can I say, I love all of the shimmery colorblocking going on, particularly at sub-$100 prices.  Pictured above is the Gianni Bini Jaysie, which is primarily cool in aqua and blue, but has a bit of orange at the bottom of the heel for a dash of warm and all-over jewels for plenty of shine.

If you prefer a sandal version, the Gianni Bini Tiara has a similar mix of colors in a t-strap peep toe style.

Or, get primary in the Gianni Bini Jazlyn, which is covered in rhinestones and red, blue, and yellow colorblocking.  These bring to mind the Giuseppe Zanotti Crystallized Colorblock Platform Slingback, but with a different silhouette.

Each of these shoes is priced at $89.99 and you can find them at Dillards.

4th of July shoes in stars & stripes & red, white & blue

Friday, June 29th, 2012

It’s almost the Fourth of July for those that celebrate here in the U.S. and I think one good way to go all out and put your patriotism on display is wearing shoes with an American flag motif.  That’s why I’ve searched around for styles with good ‘ol stars & stripes and some in red, white, and blue that may not be patterned directly after the flag, but still convey the all American theme.  One option with plenty of patriotic edge is the Iron Fist Allstar (pictured above), which is available at Heels.com for $89.99 with free 2nd day shipping, meaning that there’s still just enough time if to get them by July 3rd as I am writing this now (check the shipping info at the top to get order deadlines).  Let’s check out some more Independence Day themed options:

An ongoing fave, the Irregular Choice Chica Chola with flag detail on sale for $108.95 (regularly $188) at Karmaloop.  Coupon code ALLNEW takes 15% off and gives free shipping on orders over $100 for a limited time.

Karmaloop also has the Jeffrey Campbell Perfect Shoes in Stars and Stripes for $148 (promo codes do not apply).  A couple of more JC styles with flag detail are the Jeffrey Campbell Damsel for $182 and the Jeffrey Campbell Lita for $160.

If you love the Lita, but can’t quite shell out $160, this Lita-a-like might do the trick.  The American Flag Lace-Up Bootie is on sale for $37.95 (regularly $48) at GoJane.  They also have the $35 American Flag T-Strap Platform, which looks much like the Jeffrey Campbell Foxy.

I didn’t know that RuPaul had a shoe line with Iron Fist until I saw the RuPaul’s Drag Race Patriotic Pump, which is $74.99 with free 2nd day shipping at Heels.com.

6pm has the Naughty Monkey Marionette sandal in white, tan, or navy for $48.99 with free standard shipping.

The Naughty Monkey Shine Star is sprinkled with stars all over and available in red, blue, or black for $67.99 with free standard shipping at 6pm.  A similar style is the Star Print Platform Heel in red, blue, or black for $22.40 at GoJane.

I love high heels, but many 4th of July activities require going way more comfy and casual.  That’s why I definitely like these Vintage American Flag Flip Flops for $18.50 at Cafepress.

I was also looking around Etsy for 4th of July shoe clips and came across these Star And Stripes Patriotic Shoe Clips for $40 – are these not fab?

I also love this fun idea: A pair of flip flops with large floral shoe clips, one in red and one in blue. These Flop Toppers are $17 at Etsy.  The 4th of July Perky Bow Shoe Shoe Clip is another cute option I came across for $17 at Etsy.

Of course, if you plan to order anything online for the 4th, be sure to check with the retailer to determine if your order can arrive on time.

I hope everyone has a great holiday!

Tall gladiator sandals worn by Teresa on Real Housewives of New Jersey

Wednesday, June 6th, 2012

In the last episode of The Real Houswives of New Jersey (June 3, 2012), Teresa Giudice wore knee-high gladiator sandals throughout the episode in at least two different styles, as seen in pics from the show above.  It’s a look she clearly embraces and, to me, it makes sense – these are the kind of shoes that give off a bold, warrior vibe, which just might be ideal for braving all the intense family drama going on this season.  I received a request to help find these shoes and although Teresa could very well be wearing a high-end designer version of this type of sandal, I found out on Twitter that she got them at Victoria’s Secret, which bodes well for those of us who can’t spend hundreds or thousands to try out a similar pair.  Victoria’s Secret does have quite a few tall gladiator sandals available now and I don’t know if any of these are the exact style Teresa wore on the show, but they definitely provide the same type of look.  Here are the options:

Colin Stuart Studded Convertible Gladiator Sandal in rose gold or black on sale for $69 (originally $98).  These can be worn with or without the leg straps.

Colin Stuart Gladiator T-Strap Sandal in 2 colors on sale for $79 (originally $98).

Rhinestone Gladiator Sandal on sale for $99 (originally $128).

Fringe Gladiator Sandal in 2 colors on sale for $79 (originally $98).

If you spend over $100 at Victoria’s Secret, coupon code SHIPVS12 will give free shipping through 7/5/12.

Shoes for Victorian Steampunk wedding style

Monday, April 16th, 2012

Help! I’m getting married in October. My dress is ivory lace. I’m looking for a victorian boot or really nice but not too expensive closed toe pump to wear! I’m a bit of a lace/steampunk geek, and finding shoes to fit is so hard! Can you help?

I received this request by email for some help finding Victorian and/or Steampunk bridal shoes and, thus, I got to have a bit of fun scouting out some nontraditional wedding shoes that reflect these styles in some way or another.  Some of the shoes I found are more Victorian – whether it be a hint of influence or more overt – and then there are those that also incorporate the edgy, industrial vibe that is often found with the Steampunk aesthetic: Think Victorian, but with a kick via heavy metal detail like gear embellishments (love this Steampunk wedding for inspiration).  Also, some of the shoes I found are costume shoes technically, but if they provide the right look, they are viable options for the intended purpose.  Of course, it all depends on the bride: her personal preferences, how far and literal she wants to go with the theme, and if she plans to wear traditional bridal colors like ivory or metallics or delve into darker shades like brown and black or even go with a print, like you see with the floral Poetic Licence Lady Victoria pictured above (These are available for $84 at Must Have Shoes).  Whatever the case may be, here are more various options I came across and, hopefully, one of these just might be a perfect fit:

Lace Victorian Tall Boots in Ivory for $44.99 at BuyCostumes.

Funtasma Dame 115 for $54.95 with free shipping at Shoebuy.  The ivory version is very close to being sold out, but they also carry gold (pictured) and black.  For a shorter version, try the Funtasma Dame 05 for $49.95 with free shipping at Shoebuy or the Ivory Victorian boot at BuyCostumes for $42.99.

Irregular Choice Milk Mint for $134.99 with free shipping from Heels.com.

Annette Adult Shoes for $42.99 at BuyCostumes.

Poetic Licence Dorothy’s Dream in pewter or gold for $97.95 with free shipping at Endless.  The black version is $49.50.

Victoria Adult Boots for $49.99 at BuyCostumes.

Demonia Glam-240 for $73.99 at Sinister Soles.  Also available at Shoebuy for $104.95.

Irregular Choice Flick Flack for $129 at Irregular Choice.

Poetic Licence Spitfire in cream for $129 with free shipping at Endless.

Irregular Choice Abigails 3rd Party in gold for $155 with free shipping at Endless.

Pleaser Arena-208 Victorian Button Boots for $56.99 at Sinister Soles. A similar, shorter version is the Pleaser Splendor-130 for $52.99.

Hades Eiffel with metallic Steampunk heel in black, brown, or burgundy for $127.95 at Shoebuy.  If you prefer the white “ice” version, it appears to be sold out in most places, but it shows as available at Funky Pair for $127.95.

Irregular Choice Can’t Touch This in blue or silver for $165 with free shipping from Endless.

Irregular Choice Lucite Lovely for $165 with free shipping at Endless.

Adult Steampunk Shoes for $42.99 at BuyCostumes.

Seychelles Exclamation Point for $72.19 with free shipping at Endless.

Demonia Tesla 03 in black or brown for $64.95 with free shipping at Shoebuy.

Irregular Choice Cortesan Floral Bar for $140 at Irregular Choice.

Poetic Licence Sweet Ending in eggplant, green, or grey for $97.95 at Shoebuy.

In addition to these ready-made pairs, there are options for getting custom shoes in this style.  Find information on custom Steampunk boots and Victorian lace covering for shoes on Etsy (note: price is for customization only and does not include the cost of the shoes).

Need a discount?  Here are some coupon codes for some of the stores listed above:

Shoebuy Coupon code EMLTRAINING12 gives $7 off one pair of shoes, $15 off two, or $25 off three or more (exp. 4/17/12).

BuyCostumes Coupon code APRIL20 gives 20% off (working as of now, but may expire by today 4/16/12).  Or, sign up for their email list to get a 15% off coupon or use code BUYMORE to get $5 off $50 or more (exp. 4/22/12).

Sinister Soles Coupon code FALL20 gives 20% off $40 or more (expiration unknown).

Hopefully this helps out!

Easter shoes & fun this weekend

Monday, April 9th, 2012

I had a really nice time with my family for Easter this weekend.  On Saturday, my mom, sister, and I went shopping with the goal of outfitting our sweet little girls (my two daughters and niece) in pretty little Easter dresses and shoes, which is always a fun time.  We decided to go to Shoe Carnival to check out the kids shoes since we knew they were having a BOGO sale.  I didn’t really intend to buy myself anything since I was focused on dressing up my girls; however, temptation won out when I spotted the Soda Terani wedges you see me wearing above.  I first saw these online at Tillys last week and really liked them, so when I saw them in person and still felt the same after trying them on, I couldn’t leave them there.

The pink and yellow shades looked very Easter to me, like colors found on dyed eggs or candy, and I added an extra element of colorblocking via sky blue toes.  These shoes are very high, but despite the towering 5.5″ heel, they are surprisingly comfortable.  I found that going half a size up felt better to me when I tried them on in the store, so that’s what I opted to do, although it wasn’t totally necessary.  It just gave me a little extra wiggle room around the front strap area since I have a wider foot.  At $30, these were quite a bargain and they definitely look like they could be higher in price to me (they are even lower online at $24.98).  Plus, since there was a BOGO sale, I scooped up another cute pair for just $12 more (you can see those at the end of the post).  Color me happy. Update: These are also now available at LuLus for $29.

Here are some more pics from our family Easter get-together that I wanted to share:

My daughter had to have these sparkly flats when she saw them.  Yes, she appears to already be taking after me when it comes to shoes!  These are from a brand called Innocence, but I couldn’t locate them online.

This is the beautiful view behind my parent’s house and we enjoyed it while grilling out and egg hunting in the backyard.

My sister got these cute white strappy wedges for her Easter shoes, the Solanz Beezus.  These were $40 in the store, but are on sale for $29.98 online at Shoe Carnival.

My parents always know how to make things special when they have us over for holidays.  The food was amazing and I love my mom’s beautiful table arrangement and deviled egg chicks!

My sweet little niece wore Born flower shoes, similar to the Born Little Flower or Born Dahlia.

This is the other pair I bought, the Y-Not Sure-S in teal.  These wedges were on sale for $24.98 in the store and the price is the same online.  I got them for around $12.50 because of the BOGO offer.

Trying out a bit of pattern mixing with floral and striped denim.

I hope everyone had a happy Easter weekend as well!

Spring shoes in rainbow multicolor

Thursday, March 29th, 2012

I love how everything is about color, color, color right now when it comes to fashion.  We’ve seen the colorblocking trend enjoy plenty of longevity – it was a hit last spring too and just keeps going – and people have certainly become less afraid of combining color in unexpected ways.  Pastel shoes and pastel colorblocking have also been popular this season, which I can definitely appreciate, but bold color is always a go-to style must in the spring and summer months.  Perhaps because when things start heating up outdoors and everything gets much more colorful around us, our style naturally follows suit.

When it comes to shoes, there are many options out there for wearing a single bold color or even two or three in one pair, but today I’m focusing on the shoes that have at least four or more shades.  You just can’t help but be cheerful when you look at all of these colors playing so nicely together and if it’s extreme color that you crave, they really bring it.  One bold and dramatic example is the Zigi Shoes Sundae (pictured top), a shoe modeled after the Ferragamo Rainbow shoes.  I mentioned these on my Facebook page when LuLus came out with them, but they have since sold out (very quickly, I might add).  They are now available at Karmaloop for $250 and coupon code 10OFF100 takes 10% off $100, which drops them to $225 (exp 3/31/12).  Update: These are once again available at LuLus for $179.  Also at Heels.com for $294.99.

Here are some more multicolor options:

Kate Spade Lindsay for $275 with free shipping at Endless.

Inc International Valencia for $89 at Macys.  Coupon code SHOES takes 15% off 1 pair of shoes, 20% off 2 pairs, or 30% off 3 or more (exp 4/15/12).

Enigma Starlite for $76 with free shipping at Lulus.

Miss L-Fire Chica Chica Boom for $119.99 with free shipping at Heels.com.

Ash Hollywood for $189.95 with free shipping at Solestruck.

N.Y.L.A. Cobain for $117 with free shipping at Lulus.

Jeffrey Campbell Party-2 for $119.95 with free shipping at Envishoes.

Update 2: Another option is the Big Buddha Mojo for $59.95 with free shipping at Shoemall.  Get 20% off with coupon EGGSTRA20 through 4/10/12.

Update 3: Love the United Nude Elastic Remi.  It’s available for $279.95 with free shipping at Solestruck and for $280 with free shipping at Karmaloop.

Update 4: These super-affordable rainbow shoes can be found at GoJane for $33 in black, red, or orange.

Update 5: Here are some cute rainbow flats from Lulus.com, the Bamboo Feeling 03 for $25.

Spring Shoes with bird detail: Miss L-Fire Bluebird & Irregular Choice

Friday, March 23rd, 2012

Spring officially sprung earlier this week and what better way to celebrate the new season than with a pair of bird shoes?  Yes, that’s right, birds on your shoes.  It may not be the first thing to come to mind when you think of how to express yourself shoe-wise this spring and summer, but after I came across a few really cute and whimsical shoes with bird print, it made total sense to me.  I’ve got a little thing for birds anyway, as does my family, so it’s definitely up my alley and a unique twist on shoes for spring – one that you certainly don’t see all that often.

I saw the pair pictured above, the Miss L-Fire Blubird, first at Modcloth listed as the Tweet of Feet shoe and was a bit disappointed that it sold out so quickly (only size 6 left).  I set out to hunt it down somewhere else (maybe “hunt” isn’t the best choice of words, come to think of it) and found them on the UK-based Miss L-Fire website, but they only have a few sizes left on pre-order.  Then I discovered that Heels.com has it in stock, so if you really love the Miss L-Fire Bluebird, you better shake a tail feather because they could go fast.  You can get them for $89.99 with free shipping.

Want more bird shoes?  Irregular Choice has some options too:

Irregular Choice Fresh Cut Grass in red for $120 at Amazon, in black for $154.99 at Modcloth (listed as Dove Actually), or in red, black, or green for $155 at Musthaveshoes.

Irregular Choice Whoopi in blue for $124.95 with free shipping at Lori’s Shoes or in black for $119.95 at Infinity Shoes with free shipping via coupon code ISFREESHIP (limited time offer).

Update: We have another bird print shoe from Iron Fist, the Iron Fist Birds of a Feather for $59.99 with free shipping at Heels.com.

Update 2: I’m loving this bird print option too.  It’s the Irregular Choice Kupcake for $165 at Karmaloop.

While we’re on the topic of Miss L-Fire shoes, I had to mention some more styles from the brand.  These don’t incorporate the bird theme, but they are definitely lots of fun:

Miss L-Fire Chica Chica Boom rainbow wedge for $119.99 with free shipping at Heels.com.  Also available in black and pink.

Miss L-Fire Gabriella for $135.95 with free shipping at Lori’s Shoes.

Have a wonderful weekend!
