Spring Shoes in Pastels: Nine West Topshoe Mary Jane peep toe pumps

Wednesday, April 25th, 2012

I’ve been admiring the Nine West Topshoe lately for all of the pretty pastel shades it’s offered in.  Pastels, of course, are very on-trend this spring and when combined with this striking Mary Jane silhouette and contrasting heel and strap, it’s hard not to love this style.  But, if I were to buy it, what would be hard is picking out a favorite hue.  I mean, there’s the pastel green you see above, which is particularly lovely since mint shades have been hot this season, but then there’s also this gorgeous sky blue version (I have a bit of a weakness for this color):

Or a pretty in pink option:

Or a splash of yellow, never a bad thing:

Then again, one could nix the pastels and go with the versatility of black and white, a color combo that’s always hard to resist:

If you’re feeling much more decisive than me about one of these options, you’ll be glad to know about some sales and discounts available.  Nine West has just marked them down from $89 to $69 and they also have free shipping.  Nine West doesn’t have the black and white pair, but Macys has them for $89 and you can get 25% off with coupon code FRIENDS until 4/30/12.  If you need more size options (many are sold out at Nine West), you can also find all of the shades except yellow at Endless for $89.  If you spend over $100 on eligible styles, including this one, you can get 20% off your order using coupon code MOTHER20 through 5/13/12.  Zappos has yellow, blue, and black/white for $89 with free shipping.

Which shade is your fave?

Spring shoes that POP in neon

Friday, April 6th, 2012

With all of the bold color we’re seeing this season (which I was just discussing in my multicolor shoes post), it makes perfect sense that neon has once again emerged as a trend for spring and summer.  If you’re a lover of these ultra-bright hues, it’s not that you have to wait for them to be deemed trendy to wear them, but it does mean there are a lot more options to pick from.  And since neon packs a serious punch, a little goes a long way for making a bold statement; thus, wearing a pop of neon with your shoes is a particularly ideal way to apply the trend with ease.  I personally like the look of shoes in neutral shades, like taupe, combined with just enough neon to amp things up, like what you see with the Enzo Angiolini Timga pictured above.  It’s available for $120 at Endless and there’s also a neon pink version with a dark natural upper.  Here are some more of my current faves in fluorescent shades:

Vince Camuto Deric with bright yellow heel for $115 with free shipping at Amazon. Also available at Dillards.

Jessica Simpson Shavon colorblock heels with neon pink for $97.95 with free shipping at OnlineShoes.  Get $20 off $90, which drops the price on these to $77.95, using coupon code 20BLOOM through 4/30/12.

Ann Taylor Cheri in Caliente Coral for $178 at Ann Taylor.  Get 30% off with coupon code SPRING30 (expiration unknown).

Steve Madden Aaria in neon yellow on preorder for $149.95 at Steve Madden.  Coupon code MUSTHAVE25 takes 25% off $150 and gives free shipping through 4/10/12.  A pink version is also available.

Qupid Neutral neon green heels for $26.99 at Tilly’s.

Charlotte Russe neon wedge in pink or yellow on sale for $25 at Charlotte Russe.

Pour La Victoire Taryn in neon yellow for $189.99 with free shipping at Piperlime or $265 with free shipping at Endless.  It also comes in neon pink.

Fergie Protest in green for $69.95 with free shipping at Zappos.  It also comes in pink, yellow, and more color options.

Charlotte Russe neon orange heels for $30 at Charlotte Russe.  These shoes are eligible for their Buy 1, get 2nd for $12.50 promotion, as are these cute neon flats they offer.

Sole Boutique Posh Dynamo neon flats with spikes for $33 at Karmaloop.  They also come in neon yellow for $46. Update: Also available at Urban Originals for $33.50.

Have a fun weekend and a wonderful Easter!

Spring Shoes with bird detail: Miss L-Fire Bluebird & Irregular Choice

Friday, March 23rd, 2012

Spring officially sprung earlier this week and what better way to celebrate the new season than with a pair of bird shoes?  Yes, that’s right, birds on your shoes.  It may not be the first thing to come to mind when you think of how to express yourself shoe-wise this spring and summer, but after I came across a few really cute and whimsical shoes with bird print, it made total sense to me.  I’ve got a little thing for birds anyway, as does my family, so it’s definitely up my alley and a unique twist on shoes for spring – one that you certainly don’t see all that often.

I saw the pair pictured above, the Miss L-Fire Blubird, first at Modcloth listed as the Tweet of Feet shoe and was a bit disappointed that it sold out so quickly (only size 6 left).  I set out to hunt it down somewhere else (maybe “hunt” isn’t the best choice of words, come to think of it) and found them on the UK-based Miss L-Fire website, but they only have a few sizes left on pre-order.  Then I discovered that Heels.com has it in stock, so if you really love the Miss L-Fire Bluebird, you better shake a tail feather because they could go fast.  You can get them for $89.99 with free shipping.

Want more bird shoes?  Irregular Choice has some options too:

Irregular Choice Fresh Cut Grass in red for $120 at Amazon, in black for $154.99 at Modcloth (listed as Dove Actually), or in red, black, or green for $155 at Musthaveshoes.

Irregular Choice Whoopi in blue for $124.95 with free shipping at Lori’s Shoes or in black for $119.95 at Infinity Shoes with free shipping via coupon code ISFREESHIP (limited time offer).

Update: We have another bird print shoe from Iron Fist, the Iron Fist Birds of a Feather for $59.99 with free shipping at Heels.com.

Update 2: I’m loving this bird print option too.  It’s the Irregular Choice Kupcake for $165 at Karmaloop.

While we’re on the topic of Miss L-Fire shoes, I had to mention some more styles from the brand.  These don’t incorporate the bird theme, but they are definitely lots of fun:

Miss L-Fire Chica Chica Boom rainbow wedge for $119.99 with free shipping at Heels.com.  Also available in black and pink.

Miss L-Fire Gabriella for $135.95 with free shipping at Lori’s Shoes.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Tuesday, March 13th, 2012

St. Patrick’s Day is coming up this weekend, so if you have plans for this Saturday and want to get into the spirit of the holiday by wearing green, why not do it with your shoes?  Shoes are the perfect way to have a little fun with the tradition of donning the shade and there are certainly plenty of options for whatever you have planned for the day.  Plus, you just might have a little extra luck on your side – at least that’s what they say – and you definitely won’t get pinched.  That’s why I always love to check out the footwear available in green every time St. Patty’s Day draws near.  One pair I came across, the Mojo Moxy Petals in green (pictured above), is one that I find particularly appros for the day.  These are floral, but you have to admit some of the detail looks a lot like clovers – if only they were 4-leaf, right?  Still a great option and you can find these for $79.95 with free 2-day shipping at Endless, plus get 20% off $100 select styles with coupon code FRNDSFAM through 3/15/12.  There are limited sizes left, but we have plenty additional options.  Let’s take a look:

For an elegant approach – Hello, gorgeous:

Badgley Mischka Ginnie for $245 with free shipping at Piperlime.

Menbur Johnson for $146 with free 2-day shipping at Endless.

J.Renee Fame for $72.99 with free 2-day shipping at Endless.

For hittin’ the townI bet that you’d look good on the dance floor in these:

Senso Agnes in green glitter on sale for $59.95 at Karmaloop.

Farenheit Bar-01 Pump for $63.99 with free 2-day shipping at Endless.

Ellie 420-Jem Pump for $54.99 with free 2-day shipping at Endless.

For something fun & funky – Not everyone will be doing it…and that’s the point:

Jeffrey Campbell Lita Laced in neon green for $194 at Karmaloop (promo codes do not apply).

Irregular Choice Pertrisha for $121.58 with free 2-day shipping at Endless.

Marc by Marc Jacobs 625052/2 green rubber mouse flat for $135 with free 2-day shipping from Endless.

Many of the styles listed here from Endless are also available for the 20% off $100 discount I mentioned above.  Get the savings with coupon code FRNDSFAM through 3/15/12.  The discount will be listed on the product page if the shoe is eligible.  Also, since St. Patrick’s Day is coming up this Saturday 3/17/12, be sure to check with the retailer about their shipping options to ensure timely delivery if you plan to order online.

Teal bridal wedding shoes in today’s Find My Shoes

Thursday, June 30th, 2011

I had a request from my new Facebook friend, Laura, a bride-to-be who is looking for teal wedding shoes to match the absolutely beautiful dress (pictured above) that she picked for her big day.  Specifically, she wants to find teal satin heels from 3-4″ in a peep toe d’orsay style with knotted detail or a bit of bling on the front.  I’m happy to help out and I think teal is such a great color, but it can be tricky to find in shoes.  Here are some styles that match all or most of the criteria Laura is looking for, making them viable options for walking down the aisle in gorgeous style:

First, we have the turquoise satin Paris Hilton Suarey.  While it isn’t knotted in the front, it does have a pleated side bow that adds visual interest and you could always add something like these shoe clips (or perhaps these) for some added sparkle over the middle piece of the bow.  These shoes are $95 at Shoes.com and you can apply coupon code SECRET20 for an extra 20% off through 7/5/11.

Then we have another style from the same brand, the Paris Hilton Spelled in turquoise satin.  While it’s listed as the same color as the Suarey, this one strikes me as being more of a true teal shade, at least from this photo.  It isn’t d’orsay or peep toe, but has the knotted front and some pretty bling along the top of the heel.  Shoes.com has this style for $109 and you can get 20% off with the coupon code listed above.  For additional size options, try Amazon.com or Heels.com.

While the Paris Hilton shoes are nice ready-made options, it might be best to try custom bridal shoes to really fine tune the details.  My Glass Slipper offers a wide selection of designer shoes for brides, many of which can be dyed in your choice of the variety of colors they have available.  Its sister site BridalShoes.com is similar, but offers less expensive wedding shoes under $100.  The Pink Hot style pictured above, shown in teal, is priced at $89 with an extra $10 charge to dye it.  They have many more shoes to choose from at various price points, but here are some I found that have all (or many) of the features Laura is looking for and can be ordered in white and then dyed teal for $10 extra:

Stuart Weitzman Knotted in white for $289.  Note that some sizes won’t be available until September.

Benjamin Adams Salma for $199.

Paris Hilton Senorita for $120.  You can dye the bow and toe area one color and the rest of the shoe a different color if desired, which is pretty cool.

Liz Rene Saskia for $92.

Pink Saffron for $80.

Pink Kiss for $80.

Note that once shoes are ordered and dyed, they are not returnable.  However, they do offer Try-N-Dye, which is where you order the shoes to try them on and ensure they will work for you, then return them to get dyed (see site for details).  You can also order a swatch of your desired color for $1.

Congrats to Laura and hopefully this will help out!

Neon Bright: Senso Agnes in green + more new Senso shoes

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

We’ve seen plenty of bold and bright colors take center stage this season and, as the weather heats up, we’re seeing more and more neon shades that take the trend up a notch.  That’s why I’m loving the fresh color of the Senso Agnes wedge (above), which is available in “Fleuro”, a neon green hue that definitely isn’t seen very often when it comes to shoes.  This super-bright shade is guaranteed to stand out and I also like the cool little cutouts, which form an indentation along both ends of the heel.  More than just a mere pop of color, this pair is like…boom.  There’s also a turquoise version available:

Get these shoes at Solestruck for $174.95 and, if you’re a fan of the brand, be sure and check out all of the new Senso shoes they just got in.  Another fave of mine is the navy and gold version of the ever-popular Senso Wilma:

That gorgeous blue leather…sigh.

Update: The pink Senso Agnes is also now available at Solestruck.

Shoes with a pop of color for colorblocking trend

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

We’ve been checking out both neutral shoes and multicolored shoes, but there’s another breed of footwear that combines elements of both.  These shoes have a primarily neutral palette, in shades like taupe, black, white or gray, but then there’s some portion of the shoe that is played up with a nice shot of color.  I love the overall effect this provides and, although there are many ways to wear these shoes, I find it particularly relevant for the colorblocking trend we’re seeing for spring (as noted on Stylelist).  If you’re experimenting with this trend by combining various contrasting color combinations in your clothing, you might opt to incorporate just a touch of one of those shades in your shoes to bring it all together.  Or, if you’re hesitant to try colorblocking with your clothes, some of these shoes have more than one hue, meaning the trend is already built-in and ready to go with any look you choose.   I’m loving the Pelle Moda Franky (above) with a pop of bright orange, which can be found for $162 with free shipping at Lori’s Shoes or for $180 with free shipping at Shopbop.  Here are some more options, in both warm and cool shades:

Aldo Dyle rubber sole wedge with a pop of yellow for $100 at Aldo.  Coupon code 310687728 takes 10% off, making them $90 (exp 4/1/11).  Note: If you’re obsessed with those Prada rubber sole wedges (like the $695 Prada Mary Jane Wedge) but can’t shell out the big bucks for them, this is a nice alternative for much less.

Aldo Heister platform sandals with a pop of orange or yellow for $100 at Aldo.com.  Coupon code 310687728 takes 10% off, making them $90 (exp 4/1/11).

Nine West Stylin colorblock sandals in dark pink and orange for $89 at Nine West (ships 4/26).  Shipping is also free for a limited time.

Fergie Bold heels with a pop of yellow for $99 with free shipping from Shoes.com.  Get 20% off your order, making these $79.20, with coupon code SECRET20 (exp 3/31/11).

Madison Harding Casey wedge with a pop of yellow for $235 with free shipping from Piperlime.

Jeffrey Campbell San Diego colorblock sandals in orange and yellow for $135 at Nasty Gal.

Topshop Luminate sandals with a pop of pink for $145 with free shipping at Topshop.

Steve Madden Bellahh heels with a pop of coral on preorder for $129.95 at Steve Madden.  Get free shipping by applying SMFREESHIP at checkout.

Nine West Braxton for $99.95 at Nordstrom with free shipping via coupon code SHOES (exp 4/14/11) or for $99 with free shipping at Nine West.  This pair is also available in a yellow/orange/red combo.

Aldo Dyle again, this time in green, for $100 at Aldo.com.  Coupon code 310687728 takes 10% off, making them $90 (exp 4/1/11).

N.Y.L.A. Daron in turquoise for $84.95 at DSW.  DSW Rewards members can apply GETFAVES at checkout for $15 off $74, $30 off $149 or $50 off $199 (exp 4/4/11).  That makes this pair $69.95.

Please note that prices and promotions are subject to change at any time.
