Spring officially sprung over the weekend and, to me, there’s no better way to usher in the season than with some freshly picked flower shoes. After all, when things start blooming, we naturally want to put a little spring in our step too, so we wear shoes that reflect the great outdoors. That’s why we tend to see a wide array of pretty floral print and flower embellished shoes around this time of year and, whether you want to apply a little bit of blossom detail or go all out with dramatic blooms, there’s definitely something for everyone. Here are the shoes that have me catching a serious case of spring fever:

I’ve had tie-dye shoes on my radar ever since Gwyneth Paltrow attended the Country Music Awards late last year wearing an all-out glam Versace gown paired with tie-dye heels by Christian Louboutin. It was a somewhat unexpected choice for her shoes, since tie-dye is normally considered a more casual, boho look, but they coordinated perfectly with the ombre effect of her dress. It’s an example of tie-dye gone fancy, but I loved the look and that’s why I’m also loving these adorable Rachel Rachel Roy Eviana heels. Although I won’t be donning Versace with Louboutins à la Gwyneth anytime soon, these shoes convey a similar, more casual look that would work well with cute little spring dresses, jeans, leggings or pretty much anything else you can think of. They also go along nicely with the spring denim trend I mentioned before. You can get them at Rachel Roy for $99 or at Macy’s for the same price. This pretty pink and grey reptile version is available as well:

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Lately, I’ve noticed that many shoe designers seem to be catching a case of the blues — but in the best possible way, of course, because what I’m referring to is a spring denim trend. Blue jeans are always a closet staple, but this trend is all about the use of denim for other types of clothing and accessories, such as shoes. And like your favorite pair of jeans, shoes in denim have the potential for some serious multitasking in any wardrobe due to the versatility of the fabric. It also tends to exude a cool, casual vibe perfect for toning down a look and making it more laid-back, which works well when this is the desired effect. I first observed this trend emerging when Mr. Louboutin released shoes in denim for the upcoming season, like the drool-worthy Christian Louboutin Pigalle 120 studded denim pumps pictured above for $975 at Net-a-Porter (almost sold out) and more styles, like the Christian Louboutin Greissimo in denim for $875 and the Christian Louboutin Deroba Denim Wedge for $595 at Neiman Marcus. Plus, as Fashionologie reports, denim pieces were seen all over the runway for several noted designers and, in addition, we have the lovely Rachel Roy, who recently released an array of denim shoes as part of her Rachel Rachel Roy line. If you want to get in on the denim shoe trend, here are some styles to check out:

This is one of my current favorite shoes and it’s available in a limited-edition denim version exclusively at Akira: the Sam Edelman Lorissa for $183.90. Update: This pair is now also available at Nordstrom for $225.

Update: Here’s another one from Sam Edelman and I had to add it because I am soooo loving it. The Sam Edelman Novato in light blue for $90 at Lori’s Shoes or $99.95 at Nordstrom.

The Fever Monica in bleached denim for $200 at Fever Shoes.

The Rachel Roy Idana for $99.99 at Macy’s. Apply code PRESIDENT to get 10% off, making them $89.99, through 2/21/11. I’m also hoping the Rachel Roy Kimi in light blue with red glitter platform might make a comeback after being sold out - love!!

The Jeffrey Campbell Hill Boot in blue denim for $220 at Karmaloop. Coupon code JUST4U takes 20% off for a limited time, making them $176.

The Miss Me Woody-5 for $54.10 at Endless.

The Sergio Zelcer Witt for $136.32 in limited sizes at Endless. See all Sergio Zelcer for more denim styles.

The Dr. Scholl’s Bombshell denim flat for $29 at Endless.

The Matisse Slade for $34.98 at 6pm or $32.49 at Sears.

The Guess Bilsor in limited sizes for $76.97 at 6pm.

I was just discussing purple wedding shoes in my last post, but I had to stick with the wedding shoes theme again today after a certain blue peacock feather heel caught my eye. When I saw them, it immediately brought me back to Carrie Bradshaw and her wedding style from the first Sex and the City movie - actually, her style in both of the wedding scenes that took place in the film. There was the lavish formal affair (that we all know ended up not happening) where Carrie wore a Vivienne Westwood wedding gown and an over-the-top feather headpiece and there was the civil ceremony where she ended up marrying Mr. Big in a much simpler white dress suit accessorized with her gorgeous Manolo Blahnik blue satin heels. These shoes, which are still available in a few sizes for $945 at Bergdorf Goodman, sparked a trend for brides wearing something blue for their footwear and also spawned many look-alike versions (which I touched upon here and here). But, if you are a bride-to-be who wants to infuse some SATC style into your own wedding look, without necessarily wearing a replica of the Manolos, here’s another option:

With the Johnathan Kayne Peacock, you have the blue satin, the feather detail, a bit of bling: basically Carrie’s style from both wedding scenes rolled into one. While they are definitely well-suited for brides, they could always add dramatic flair to any evening look. You can find them at Endless for $125 with free overnight shipping and they also come in black.

Christian Louboutin is known for doing classic pumps very well, but it’s the more experimental designs from the brand that really conjure up excitement and keep us talking. Not to mention, the more extreme shoes are probably pretty fun to design and keep fashion-forward Louboutin customers walking on the wild side. Case in point: the Christian Louboutin Misfit heels (pictured above), which clearly have a lot going on: tassels and grommets and pleated fabric hanging down the front (and that heel - 6 inches!). They certainly aren’t subtle, but are meant to assert themselves wherever they go. Originally available at a retail price of $1,425, they now appear to be sold out everywhere online.

Jeffrey Campbell is another shoe brand known for boundary-pushing original styles, but they do take some inspiration from high-end designers from time to time. In this case, it’s the newly released Jeffrey Campbell P-Kitten, which is a knockoff for the Christian Louboutin Misfit. It’s not an exact replica, but it does provide the overall look of the Misfit at a much lower cost, which is perfect for fashion rebels who want to make this statement for less. You can get it in black, as well as a hot blue version:

Rock this style for yourself by heading over to Solestruck, where they are sold for $129.95 with free shipping.

Christian Louboutin shoes continue to reign as one of the most highly-coveted shoe brands in the world, so when the red-soled wonders are embellished with all-over crystals, the infatuation is taken to a whole different level (at least for those of us who love sparkly princess shoes). But, these little crystals cost a pretty penny and catapult already-expensive Louboutins into even more unattainable territory. Case in point: the gorgeous blue Christian Louboutin No Prive Riche, one of the currently available crystal styles (although almost sold out), is a whopping $2,875 at Barneys. For those of us with much less to spend on shiny shoes, there’s a similar option from Steve Madden:

Although not available in blue, the Steve Madden I-Lyddia offers plenty of bling via all-over rhinestone detailing and it’s priced approximately $2,725 less at $149.95. You can save even more by applying coupon code BFRUGAL15 at checkout (exp. 12/31), which takes 15% off $75. That drops the price to $127.46 and also gives free shipping. Hmm…New Year’s shoes, anyone?

It’s hard to believe the holidays are already upon us, but I absolutely love this time of year, especially for the array of fancy party shoes we start to see everywhere. The Betsey Johnson Impress has quickly become my first shoe love this holiday season with its gorgeous blue velvet and sparkly cluster of sequins and beads. Yes, it had me at “hello” the moment I saw it featured at Endless in this picture:

This is a perfect style for brides looking for something blue for their wedding shoes - if I wasn’t already married, I’d be all over it - but its also a festive option if you plan to get dressed up for upcoming holiday parties and events. You can find them at Endless for $175 and, since they are currently offering $25 off $100 on select evening shoes, you can get them on discount for $150. They also come in black and free overnight shipping is included. The $25 off promotion ends 11/24/10.
