More or Less

Fans of MTV’s The City will surely remember those standout Nicholas Kirkwood garbage bag shoes (pictured above) that were featured in the episode where Olivia Palermo helped style pop star Kei$ha for Elle. While I’m not sure where these shoes can be purchased (or for how much), I couldn’t help but immediately think of them when I came across this pair:

The Petula Rose Platform Sandal isn’t what I would call a knockoff, but it certainly appears to be inspired by Nicholas Kirkwood and is presumably way more affordable. There’s no mention of the floral accents being crafted from actual garbage bags, which unfortunately eliminates the ”green” recycled factor of the Kirkwood pair, but the frayed roses do convey a very similar look. Plus, the neutral colors make this style much more wearable while still retaining the overall drama factor. I’m loving it and, if you love this pair too, you can find the Petula at Topshop for $200. It’s still a splurge, but definitely a fun one. Shipping adds a flat rate of $15.

The Ash Lovely is the kind of shoe with the edge factor built right in. This dramatic studded wedge can be slipped on with with even the most basic of outfits - black leggings, skinny jeans or anything else you can come up with - to add a nice dose of fierce to the look. But, while they aren’t over-the-top expensive, these bad babies will still set you back $239.95 if you get them at Nordstrom, where there’s still a pretty good selection of sizes left (other online stores that have them for less are practically sold out). That’s quite a splurge in my world, but there is a similar option for less:

The Luichiny Pass Ive is like a fraternal twin of the Ash pair: not identical, but definitely related. It essentially comes down to a preference for the brand and details - like the color of the heel and studs - and, of course, the cash flow. You can get the Luichiny pair in black at Endless for $68.36 with free 2-day shipping or at Bakers for $59.99 with $4.95 shipping. Endless also offers the camel or grey versions for $54.29 and Bakers offers purple, cognac, grey and camel for the same price as black. But, the lowest price for the camel and grey is from Amazon, where they are each $49.20 with free shipping.

DSW is dishing out the discounts right now with their new coupon code TOPTIER, which takes $10 off $49, $25 off $99 and $50 off $199 at checkout if you sign in to your DSW account. There’s definitely something for everyone in their wide selection of women’s shoes, but I spotted a new arrival that’s a dead ringer for the Dolce Vita boots Miley Cyrus and Kim Cattrall (as Samantha Jones) wore in Sex and the City 2. The Dolce Vita Marilyn from the movie is all but sold out - as is the lookalike version from Bebe, the Bebe Jenna - but now we have another style for anyone who wants to rock a tall strappy boot with a bedazzled minidress (or, perhaps, jeans). It’s the N.Y.L.A. Webebe in tan, black or grey and DSW has them priced at $129.95. With the code, your total drops to $104.95. That’s quite a bit less than the Bebe or the Dolce Vita boots and you can also get free shipping by adding SHIPR along with the other coupon. The TOPTIER coupon expires 7/26/10 and doesn’t apply to Skechers Shape-Ups or Reebok Easy Tones.

Ever since doing my post on multicolored shoes for spring featuring the Charles David Tangier (pictured above), I’ve been trying to justify spending $215 on a pair of rainbow sandals that are super-cute but not all that practical or affordable (I still wanted them). Unfortunately, I couldn’t fit them into the ‘ol budget and I’ve since watched the price go down - they are now $140 at Amazon or $147 at Endless - but I’ve also watched as availability went down even futher, essentially to sold-out territory; i.e. if you’re a size 5.5, you’re in luck, otherwise not so much. However, I seriously didn’t expect to see a Charles David Tangier lookalike while casually browsing the shoe selection at Bakers and I was absolutely shocked (read: excited) to see this similar pair for much less:

The Bakers Bonita sandal is basically a replica of the Charles David pair with a much smaller price tag. You can get it on sale for $39.99 (regularly $79.99) in the multicolored version and they also have a turquoise option for $49.99. Shipping adds $4.95 or get it free on orders of 75 or more. Tempting, I say, very tempting.

On this season of MTV’s The City, we’ve seen Whitney Port hard at work on her Whitney Eve clothing line and she’s definitely had her share of success - like showing her designs at Bryant Park during Fashion Week and scoring deals with companies like Rue La La and Maybelline - but we’ve also seen her endure some criticism from the fashion world and fellow unsupportive castmate Olivia, whose fate at Elle is definitely hanging by a thread at this point (leaving anticipation high for a potential firing). But, we all know that looking fabulous is the best revenge and Whitney did just that while attending the MTV Movie Awards and the premier of Sex and the City 2. I love both of these looks on her and, of course, I had to notice the shoes. At first glance, I thought her SATC 2 shoes (with the black dress) might be the Christian Louboutin Coussin, but a closer look revealed them to be this pair:

This is the Charlie My Love ATM Knotted Woven Bootie and it’s available at Shopbop for $268.80, marked down from $384. That’s certainly a lot less than the $1,595 Louboutin bootie, but you can save some money and get a similar look with this pair:

Boutique 9 Val for $199 at Shoe Woo. If you buy 2 pairs, get 20% off automatically at checkout until 6/14/10.

Or, save even more with the N.Y.L.A. Isabel bootie in black, which is $76.98 at Target.
On to the next pair:

Whitney reaffirms her love for the cage at the MTV Movie Awards by pairing her yellow dress with bronze Sergio Rossi Scalloped Booties, which are available at Neiman Marcus for $850. For less expensive alternatives, try these:

Calvin Klein Dylan for $119 at Shoes.com. Get 20% off with coupon code VISA for a limited time, which reduces them to $95.20 with free shipping.

Mixx Chloe 01 for $44 at LuLu’s.

Martinez Valero Courtney for $96.22 with free 2-day shipping at Endless.

Update: This Cut-Out High Heel Bootie scallop cage shoe for $40 at GoJane is even more similar. It comes in purple, grey or black.

When I spotted this N.Y.L.A. Megu platform sandal (pictured above), I recognized it as a lookalike version of a style from one of the hottest luxury designer shoe brands around, Miu Miu. More specifically, this pair:

The Miu Miu Forma cutout sandal is a super-sexy statement shoe worn by several celebrities, as seen on Coolspotters. They actually look even better worn - personally, I like Katy Perry’s out-on-the-town look - but they appear to be sold out online (except for a size 11 at Net-a-Porter). Plus, their $755 price tag will make quite a statement on the bank account, not just the feet. The N.Y.L.A. Megu replicates the look and it’s far less expensive. DSW offers this pair for $89.95 in black or gold and you can get free shipping if you log in to your DSW account and apply code SHIPR during checkout. Or, try Endless for even more color options. They have pink, brown, silver, black and bone versions for $119.95 with free overnight shipping. The DSW coupon expires 7/6/10.

Update: Here’s another option at an even lower price. GoJane has the Cut-Out Design Open Toe Platform in black, brown or red for $31.90.

Sex and the City 2 is finally out today (yay!) and I won’t be braving the theatres on premier day, although I will attempt to check it out this weekend. In the meantime, I thought it would be fun to round up all of the shoes we’ve seen so far that are either in the movie or associated with it (i.e. premieres, etc). Since we know the Sex and the City 2 ladies are always extravagent and over-the-top with fashion - the cost of their wardrobe is said to have been around $10 million - I’ve also found lookalike options that are far less expensive. These are the shoes we’ve seen in the movie photos and info released up until now, some of which I’ve covered in my previous Sex and the City 2 shoes posts, but now you can see them all in one big super-post. I’m sure the movie itself will provide plenty of additional footwear eye candy, so I’ll add more as I see them.

We’ll start with the gold heels Sarah Jessica Parker wears as Carrie Bradshaw in her white dress, which is one of my favorite looks so far. I love the gold and white combo and how the simplicity of the dress allows the shoes to really shine. These appear to be Christian Louboutin Pigalle Strass heels, but they aren’t available for purchase online (the Halston Heritage white dress is available at Neiman Marcus for $325 though). However, I did find some similarly sparkly shoes that are sold for less:

H by Halston Stella gold glitter pumps for $79.95 exclusively at Bakers Shoes. These are also available in silver glitter, multi glitter and brown, white or black leather. Update: Now on sale for $59.99.

Chinese Laundry Ladybug in gold for $79.95 with free 2-day shipping at Endless.

Enzo Angiolini Merryann in gold and silver for $79.95 at Nordstrom. The stock photo really doesn’t do this pair justice. Check out the Goldenmeans blog to see just how gorgeous these look on.

We also see Carrie wearing the Christian Louboutin Bridget Strass in SATC2. These are unavailable online, but we have a close lookalike from Dollhouse:

The gold version of the Dollhouse Tano is available at Dollhouse.com for $54. Or, you can opt for the all black Tano, which DSW offers for $49.95. Get $10 off at DSW with code TAKE10 (must login) until 6/28 and free shipping with code FREESHIP at checkout. Update: Amazon has the Dollhouse Tano in red/black, gold/black or all black marked down to $41.97 with free shipping. Update 2: More similar styles are the Anne Michelle Obscene-14 mesh bootie for $24.80 at Urban Originals and the embroidered cage snake bootie available at GoJane for $27.70 and the Mesh Floral Embroidery Heels for $24.99 at Amiclubwear.

We see the Christian Louboutin Gino t-strap sandal on Carrie with her bright blue dress. Again, these are unavailable for sale online and there aren’t too many close lookalikes that I see. But, these less expensive shoes offer some of the same elements, resulting in a similar look:

Charles by Charles David Racey for $68.77 with free 2-day shipping at Endless.

Betsey Johnson Lavant for $133 at 6pm.

Cri de Coeur Elegance for $100 with free overnight shipping at Endless.

Sarah Jessica Parker looked amazing at the Sex and the City 2 premier in yellow Valentino and dark silver Salvatore Ferragamo double platform heels. This Steve Madden pair provides a nice alternative:

Steve Madden Caryssa for $89.95 with free overnight shipping at Endless. Get $15 off $80 with coupon code STATMNTI for a limited time (see site for additional codes that apply to larger purchases).

Sarah Jessica changes into a black dress and bold Nicholas Kirkwood shoes for the premier after-party. These shoes are sold at Browns, but they are currently out of stock with more coming soon (Update: The version without pink piping is available at luisaviaroma.com for $1,242.40). This is another unique pair that’s hard to find lookalikes for, but these shoes come close:

Michael Antonio Toki in purple or grey for $66.95 with free 2-day shipping at Endless or for $59.90 with free shipping on $75 or more at FlyJane.

Cut-Out Colorblock Peep Toe Heel for $30 at GoJane.

The Brian Atwood Loca in lavender is worn by Carrie with her plaid shirt and cropped jeans. The Loca was available at Net-a-Porter for $800, but is now sold out (more stock may be coming soon). Neiman Marcus has the black and antique brass versions available for $800 and Bergdorf has them for $815. If you’re looking for a more affordable lavender studded heel lookalike for the Loca, try this pair:

The Steve Madden Twilitte is available at Steve Madden for $109.95 and you can get 25% off and free shipping with coupon code FF25 until 5/31/10. It also comes in black.

Update: Here’s a Brian Atwood Loca knockoff from GoJane. It’s $29.90 and comes in black, grey or red.

Miley Cyrus makes a cameo in the movie and she’s dressed identical to Samantha Jones, played by Kim Cattrall, even down to their strappy boots. These are the Dolce Vita Marilyn, available in very limited sizes at Endless, but almost sold out completely everywhere. Bebe has a practically identical version, the Bebe Jenna, which is also out of stock (with more coming soon it appears). For less expensive lookalikes, see this post or check out this pair that reminds me of the Marilyn, except in a lighter, more summer-y way:

Guess Blarney for $140 in black or brown at Guess.com. Update: A few more lookalikes: the N.Y.L.A. Webebe at Amazon or Endless for $169.95 or the Charles Albert New 1769 Double Dip in black for $58 at LuLu’s or the Strappy Detail Thigh High Boot for $45.50 at GoJane or the Suede Buckle Strap Heel Boots for $38.99 at Amiclubwear.

Kim Cattrall’s character Samantha Jones is seen wearing the $148 Patricia Field Classic Polly shoes in white and gold. You can find these and more shoes by Patricia Field at Patriciafield.com.

The iconic Manolo Blahnik Something Blue shoes make a cameo in SATC2 as part of the shoes in Carrie’s closet. You can get the real deal at Bergdorf Goodman for $945 or try these blue satin lookalikes for less:

Martinez Valero Zenith Blue for $154.99 at Sears.

RSVP Zaza for $99 with free shipping at Zappos.

Charlotte wears purple peep toe platforms in the movie and the shoes help Carrie locate her in a crowded Abu Dhabi market. I’m not sure exactly what kind of shoes these are, but the Paris Hilton Sashay in purple is a pretty alternative that looks quite similar.

You can get these for $69.30 at 6pm.

Charlotte also wears the pink and white Christian Louboutin Very Croise platform sandal (seen at Polyvore). For more affordable shoes that aren’t exact, but have similar design elements and/or colors, try these:

The Shiekh Catwalk 22 in black and white for $25 at Shiekhshoes.com. It’s also available in four additional color options.

Another option from Shiekhshoes, the Shiekh Persia-01. This is actually a lookalike for another designer pair, but it has the same pink and white combo. These are $44.97.

Get the same color combo in sandal form with the Guess Knotted platform for $98.95 at Endless. Get $15 more off using coupon code STATMNTI at checkout for a limited time.

Carrie wears a pair of black and blue booties with her green dress that are from Pierre Hardy. I couldn’t find these shoes online, but the blog Better In Boots has some more info/pics. For a less expensive option, try this pair:

Fergie Jolt for $48.98 with free shipping at Amazon.

When Carrie runs into Aiden in the Abu Dhabi market, she wears a Dior t-shirt with a long, full skirt and pink suede sandals. The pink shoes worn by Sarah Jessica Parker are the Manolo Blahnik Lezza, which are unavailable for sale online but you can see a picture of the black version over at Coolspotters. For a similar alternative, try these shoes:

Pour La Victoire Bridgette in fuschia for $163.90 with free overnight shipping at Endless.

Dollhouse Esina for $49.95 with free overnight shipping at Endless. This pair is also a lookalike for this Giuseppe Zanotti sandal.

United Nude Cup Goddess for $194.95 at Endless.
