Fun Shoes for Friday: Jeffrey Campbell Benched

That’s what went through my head when I first saw these Jeffrey Campbell Benched shoes and, if you haven’t seen them yet, you might be thinking the same thing.  I mean, how is this possible?  Don’t you need to have that middle section of your shoes for, you know, arch support?  Then I realized there must be some law of physics that allows these shoes to happen and, when you think about the fact that the balls of your feet bear most of the weight when you wear heels, it starts to make more sense.  Plus, if you check out the picture of the shoes being worn over at Need Supply, you can see the potential for wearability even more.  Leave it to Jeffrey Campbell to place a cutout where cutouts have rarely gone before — although I did see these similarly archless shoes by Dolce and Gabbana (worn by Frieda Pinto) over at High Heel Confidential.  Word on the street says the Jeffrey Campbells are actually comfortable and, although they aren’t pulling on the ol’ wallet strings for me personally like some other styles from the brand do, I can definitely appreciate the innovative design.  You can find them at Solestruck in four color versions for $189.95 with free shipping.  Need Supply is currently taking preorders on the tan version for $187 with an expected ship date of 7/15/11.

Have a wonderful weekend!
