A Motherload of Color: The Haus of Price Mega Bootie

Thursday, February 24th, 2011

OMG

You have to check out this shoe.

It’s the Haus of Price Mega Bootie and it sold out in a mere nanosecond (i.e. around one day) on preorder at Solestruck.  But, I thought you might want to feast your eyes on its candy-covered deliciousness anyway (btw, those are gems, not actually candy).  If you enjoy the thrill of the chase, be sure to sign up at Solestruck to get notified when more stock comes in.  They are $334.95 and should be available again in late April.

Update: Here’s another colorful Haus of Price option, the Haus of Price Cage Wedge in multi gem.  It’s available for $228 at Karmaloop.

Real Housewives of Atlanta Reunion Shoes: Working it out in Louboutins

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011

The cast members of The Real Housewives franchise on Bravo are each quite different in their own way, but if there is one common denominator among the women, it’s that they all love shoes.  And, more often than not, they like to get their footwear fix from Christian Louboutin (as discussed in several of my previous posts).  So, it’s no surprise that we saw plenty of red soles flashing on the The Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion for Season 3.  After all, when you have some explainin’ to do for all of your antics during the season, you must have your best power pumps on.  What I didn’t know, however, is that host Andy Cohen also has a thing for shoes.  On Watch What Happens Live, he let us in on a little tradition where he selects his favorite pair of shoes from those worn by the Housewives during the reunion taping.  And, according to this video footage, Andy is all about sparkly and rock ‘n’ roll styles, making him a man after my own heart for sure.  You can see all of the shoes up close in the video, but here’s a rundown of what the ladies wore:

Kandi Burruss wore the Christian Louboutin Miss Fast booties with spike detail.  These were available at Saks for $1,095 at Saks, but are now sold out.

Phaedra Parks wore the Christian Louboutin Ambertina, available for $895 at Barney’s, but only a couple of sizes are left.

NeNe Leakes wore the Christian Louboutin Pigalili in gold.  The silver version is available in limited sizes for $3,545 at Christian Louboutin.

Kim Zolciak wore a nude version of the Christian Louboutin Pigalle spiked pump, like this one in denim.  I don’t see the nude pair for sale online.

Sheree Whitfield wore these $895 Christian Louboutin Maggie heels, which are also sold out.

Cynthia Bailey was the only one not in Louboutins.  She wore a YSL platform pump that appears to be this metallic silver version, available for $895 at YSL.

Andy’s favorite pair was Phaedra’s Ambertina sandal.  Of course, we can’t all splurge like the Housewives do, so I tracked down some shoes that have similar elements, but at a much lower price.  Here’s what I found:

BCBGeneration Flossy boots on sale for $51.99 at Shoemall (originally $129.95).  Act by today and use coupon code SAVE25 for 25% off $25 or more and you’ll score them for just $38.99 (expires 2/23/11).

Fever Raven for $250 at Fever Shoes.

Wild Pair Celeste for $80 at Amazon or for the same price at Bakers.

Betsey Johnson Ice in gold glitter for $85 at Zappos.

Sam Edelman Lorissa spikes heel in nude for $200 at Karmaloop.  Apply coupon code OHSNAP to get 15% off $75, making them $170 (expires 2/28/11).

Paris Hilton Patty for $59.95 at DSW.  Members get free shipping with coupon code SHIPR (expires 3/21/11)

Steve Madden Fantasha for $99.95 at Steve Madden.  Coupon code rmn15f takes 15% off and gives free shipping, making them $84.96 (expiration unknown).

Fun Shoes for Friday: Jeffrey Campbell Skate ice skating inspired shoes

Friday, February 18th, 2011

Many people, at some point or another, fantasize about becoming a competitive figure skater, but very few actually see that pipe dream turn into reality.  Personally, I’ve always fallen straight on my behind (and had a helluva time getting back up) anytime I’ve tried ice skating, so I think these skate-inspired shoes would work out much better for me.  It’s the Jeffrey Campbell Skate in white, part of the brand’s White Out collection for spring, and it’s the perfect shoe for channeling those inner ice queen dreams.  I’m definitely fascinated by this fanciful carved wood wedge, although it’s appealing more to my roller girl side because I was always much better at that.  Get JC’s latest must-have shoe in white at Singer22 for $198 (Update: Also in black or tan) or opt for the Jeffrey Campbell Skate in black for the same price at Lori’s Shoes.  Update: The black pair is now sold out at Lori’s, but Karmaloop just got the Skate in stock for $205.  Coupon code OHSNAP takes 15% off $75 until 2/28, making them $174.25.  Shipping is extra (sold out).  Update: Karmaloop got some more of the white Skate, but only a couple of sizes are left (sold out).  Update: Urban Outfitters has the black JC Skate in stock for $199 (sold out).  Update 5/10/11: Karmaloop has the black Jeffrey Campbell Skate in stock for $205, but betta hurry!  They also have white for the same price.  Update 5/31/11:  Urban Outfitters has the white JC Skate for $199.  Envishoes has the brown, white and black Jeffrey Campbell Skate for $198.95.  Lori’s Shoes has the black JC Skate or white for $198.

Update: Solestruck now has the Jeffrey Campbell Skate in beige or black for $214.95 with free shipping (sold out).  Update 5/12/11: Solestruck has a couple sizes left in the brown Jeffrey Campbell Skate for $214.95 with free shipping.  Update 5/13/11: Solestruck also has a couple sizes left in the nude version.  Update 5/31/11: LuLu’s has the brown JC Skate for $188.

Spring 2011 Hot Shoe Trends: Denim shoes

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

Lately, I’ve noticed that many shoe designers seem to be catching a case of the blues — but in the best possible way, of course, because what I’m referring to is a spring denim trend.  Blue jeans are always a closet staple, but this trend is all about the use of denim for other types of clothing and accessories, such as shoes.  And like your favorite pair of jeans, shoes in denim have the potential for some serious multitasking in any wardrobe due to the versatility of the fabric.  It also tends to exude a cool, casual vibe perfect for toning down a look and making it more laid-back, which works well when this is the desired effect.  I first observed this trend emerging when Mr. Louboutin released shoes in denim for the upcoming season, like the drool-worthy Christian Louboutin Pigalle 120 studded denim pumps pictured above for $975 at Net-a-Porter (almost sold out) and more styles, like the Christian Louboutin Greissimo in denim for $875 and the Christian Louboutin Deroba Denim Wedge for $595 at Neiman Marcus.  Plus, as Fashionologie reports, denim pieces were seen all over the runway for several noted designers and, in addition, we have the lovely Rachel Roy, who recently released an array of denim shoes as part of her Rachel Rachel Roy line.  If you want to get in on the denim shoe trend, here are some styles to check out:

This is one of my current favorite shoes and it’s available in a limited-edition denim version exclusively at Akira: the Sam Edelman Lorissa for $183.90.  Update: This pair is now also available at Nordstrom for $225.

Update: Here’s another one from Sam Edelman and I had to add it because I am soooo loving it.  The Sam Edelman Novato in light blue for $90 at Lori’s Shoes or $99.95 at Nordstrom.

The Fever Monica in bleached denim for $200 at Fever Shoes.

The Rachel Roy Idana for $99.99 at Macy’s.  Apply code PRESIDENT to get 10% off, making them $89.99, through 2/21/11.  I’m also hoping the Rachel Roy Kimi in light blue with red glitter platform might make a comeback after being sold out – love!!

The Jeffrey Campbell Hill Boot in blue denim for $220 at Karmaloop.  Coupon code JUST4U takes 20% off for a limited time, making them $176.

The Miss Me Woody-5 for $54.10 at Endless.

The Sergio Zelcer Witt for $136.32 in limited sizes at Endless.  See all Sergio Zelcer for more denim styles.

The Dr. Scholl’s Bombshell denim flat for $29 at Endless.

The Matisse Slade for $34.98 at 6pm or $32.49 at Sears.

The Guess Bilsor in limited sizes for $76.97 at 6pm.

Snooki wears Nina Shostopper light up shoes on David Letterman

Monday, February 14th, 2011

Snooki of MTV Jersey Shore fame appeared on Late Show with David Letterman last Thursday night (2/11/11) to promote her latest ventures, including her best-selling book A Shore Thing, her line of Snooki slippers and, indirectly perhaps, her flashing light up shoes:

I have to give a shout out to my dear Dad for alerting me to these shoes after he spotted them on the show (thanks Pa!) and David Letterman most definitely took notice of them too – it’s hard not to when the shoes feature eye-catching rows of flashing LED colored lights.  Jimmy Choo also did a light up shoe with their Jimmy Choo Zap that originally retailed for nearly $2,500 (now $1,247.50 at Jimmy Choo), but the Nina Shostopper bootie retails for $149.95 and is currently on sale for $97.95 with free shipping at Zappos:

It comes in red or black and you can actually turn the lights off if desired using a button on the sole of the shoe.  These shoes are a novelty and definitely aren’t made for every occasion, but they are tailor-made for being seen while tearing up the dance floor – and when you go out wearing heels that light up, you must own it.

Update: The black pair at Zappos is now $104.97, while the red pair is down to $85.

Find My Shoes: Heels worn by My Fair Wedding breast cancer survivor bride Kimberly

Saturday, February 12th, 2011

I had a request from Meagan on Facebook to help find the shoes she spotted on the WE show My Fair Wedding with David Tutera.  The shoes she loved were worn by Kimberly Read, a young breast cancer survivor whose wish for her wedding was to have a 1950’s Havana theme with plenty of pink to incorporate breast cancer awareness into the day.  While she didn’t have many of the details ironed out initially, David took the reigns and created an spectacular wedding day for her.  One detail she did have down pat were her shoes, which David absolutely loved.  Even though he wanted to change her original wedding gown choice to something with more flair, he felt these shoes fit well with the 50’s Cuba vibe they were going for.  These are the shoes:

I did recognize these shoes as a pair I mentioned here on the site (in black) almost a year ago, so I hoped they were still available.  The good news?  They are!  And it’s also nice that this gorgeous pair is quite affordable as a wedding shoe option:

These are the Chinese Laundry Head Over Heels in ivory with lace-up, corset-like detail along the side of the ankle wrap.  The best price I can find is at DSW, where they are $69.95.  Free shipping on $35 is available for members via coupon code SHIPR (exp. 3/21/11)  They are also available at Endless for $98.95 with free 2-day shipping.  The ivory version is perfect for brides, but they also come in black for the same price at both DSW and Endless for even more occasions:

I hope this is helpful Meagan!
