Anne Michelle Fume: A look-alike for Whitney Port’s black heels on MTV’s The City

Monday, January 18th, 2010

Any shoe lover who considers themselves a fan of MTV’s The City with Whitney Port has to remember those infamous black ankle strap heels Whitney wore in the first season of the show (check out all my posts on Whitney Port’s shoes for more).  I definitely wasn’t searching for a look-alike pair today, but I happened across the Anne Michelle Fume and instantly recognized them as very similar to the style Whitney wore on the show.  It’s also a dead ringer for the Steve Madden Tayla, but the Anne Michelle pair is much more affordable.  You can get this hot look at LuLu’s for just $26.50 in black or grey.  If you spend over $75 on your order, shipping is also free.

Message from Princess: Beautiful blogger award

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

She’s near and dear to my heart and a first time mom-to-be: it’s the talented Meg at Two Pounds a Week, who was sweet enough to give me a Beautiful Blogger Award!  Thanks Meg!  So, apparently there are a few rules to go by when receiving this award - you must thank the person who gave it to you (done), reveal seven random things about yourself and pass along the award to seven other bloggers.  So, here it goes:

1.  I’ve loved writing since childhood.  I often spent hours upon hours at a time writing stories and illustrating them and I still have stacks of notebooks to show for it.

2.  I’m a mom to two sweet little angels, both girls.  It works out well because I still enjoy playing Barbies.

3.  I’m not a big fan of text messaging.  It’s totally appropriate at certain times, but it tends to annoy me when I spend time typing out something that would take 2 seconds to say.

4.  I once worked for Nintendo as a local rep and I got to travel to the corporate office to meet Mario in person.  Ok, it was someone dressed up as Mario, but it was exciting nonetheless.  I also helped launch the Nintendo DS when it first came out.

5.  I’ve loved fashion since the age of three, when I nixed my mom’s pick for my Easter dress at a store and picked out my own frilly, lacey concoction, along with all of the matching accessories.

6.  Writing about shoes is my dream job - even if it’s more of a hobby and creative outlet right now.  I also have a pipe-dream about owning a totally awesome skating rink.

7.  When getting this website designed, I decided I wanted the princess to change shoes - she wears a different pair when you click on the Going Out, Going ALL Out, Getting Casual, Going to Work, Working Out and Staying In categories on the top left.  Man, those were some expensive shoes! :)

So, now I’ll nominate seven other bloggers.  Each are fabulous in their own way and fun to read, with many being fellow shoe bloggers that I enjoy keeping up with:

Jessica at Polished Sense

Kim at Shoeaholics Anonymous

Candi at Candi Cobbler (I just discovered this blog, she is learning how to make her own shoes, which I think is super-cool)

Anna at Shoe Smitten

New blogger FancyFeet over at Shoe Blog

Stacy at A Girl’s Guide to Shoes

My website designer Meredith at Spiffy Boutiques

If any of you happen to see this, I’d love to hear your answers!

Have a great Saturday!

Sale Spotlight: Fergie shoes on sale under $50 at Torrid

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

When talking about Fergie shoes, it’s hard not to insert a Fergie-ism, like “These shoes are so 3008″ or “They’re fergalicious [They're hot, hot!]“, but I’ll try to refrain from doing that.  Instead, I’ve found some Fergie shoes on sale - all of which are lower in price than I’ve seen at any other online store.  So, if you’ve been eyeing the Fergie Disco in Gold above or any of the shoes below, head over to Torrid.  They are currently taking an extra 50% off clearance, including shoes, so you’ll find select Fergie styles for a lot less (sale price already reflects discount).  Here are a few standouts:

Fergie Disco in pink tie-dye for $39.49.  The gold snakeskin Fergie Disco is the same price (originally $99).

Fergie Thief bootie in black for $49.99 (originally $139)

Fergie Jester leopard heel for $39.49 (originally $99)

Fergie Jolt in black for $39.49 (originally $99)

See all clearance shoes at Torrid for more options (note that clearance purchases are final).  If you spend over $75, get free shipping with coupon code GETITFREE at checkout.  Sale ends 1/18/10.

Shoe Buzz: Jimmy Choo & Ugg team up, Ivanka Trump shoe line + more

Friday, January 15th, 2010

There’s always something new to talk about when it comes to the world of shoes and I, for one, am definitely not complaining.  I could talk shoes all day.  So, who’s creating shoe buzz this week?  Let’s check it out:

Luxe shoe company Jimmy Choo may have just worked with H&M to create a lower-priced shoe collection late last year, but the unlikely pairings don’t stop there.  WWD reports that they also have plans to do a 5-piece collection with sheepskin boot maker Ugg Australia this fall and sell them under the label Ugg & Jimmy Choo.  The boots will feature Ugg construction combined with Jimmy Choo design elements, but the pricing definitely leans more towards Choo territory at $595-$795.  You may love or hate Uggs, but Jimmy Choo president Tamara Mellon is definitely a fan - according to her, they are the only shoes you’ll find in her wardrobe besides her own brand.  Very interesting indeed.

Nashville-based shoe charity Soles4Souls will donate 250,000 shoes to victims of the earthquake in Haiti.  They originally committed 100,000 pairs, but received many more donations than expected from their partners in the footwear industry and the community.  According to their website, “a pair of new shoes is absolutely necessary in order for the Haitian survivors to be effective in rescue and rebuilding efforts amidst broken glass, twisted metal and raw sewage.”

Already dreaming of hot summer shoes?  Check out WSA Today, who gives a rundown of shoe trends for summer 2010.  Among the trends noted are playful color, exotics, neon and floral texture.

Ivanka Trump just got married in October and now she’s kicking off the new year by announcing a shoe line, which will be licensed through Marc Fisher Footwear.  Marc Fisher says, “We believe Ivanka has something fresh and distinctive to offer in what is otherwise a celebrity-saturated market.”  She does have a classic, sophisticated style and I liked her on The Apprentice, so I’m looking forward to seeing what she has to offer, although I do think it’s quite a challenge to stand out in the sea of celebs who are doing the same.  She also has a high-end jewelry line and may branch out to apparel and more accessories. ALDO Lacau on clearance for $31.99 + free shipping at Amazon

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

While browsing shoes at Amazon today, I ran across the ALDO Lacau and it definitely caught my eye with its appealing mix of textures and shades and triple buckle.  It’s also on clearance right now, which makes it all the better.  The teal version above, which is perfect for applying the turquoise color trend Pantone predicts this year, is on sale for $31.99 (originally $90) or get the unique muti-colored turquoise version below for the same price (sizes are getting limited):

I have to admit, the fuchsia pair is my favorite, although it’s priced higher at $48.99 (there’s also a black version for $45.99):

The Lacau is also available direct from ALDO, but Amazon is offering free shipping on ALDO products for a limited time, so you save money on the shipping costs.
