Dollhouse Simone for $36.49 at Torrid + 10% off

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

Trendy plus-size retailer Torrid is having a great sale today.  They’ve taken an extra 50% off clearance and, even if you don’t wear plus-size clothing, you can always check out the shoes.  Like this Dollhouse Simone huarache sandal, a style I mentioned before that has since sold out at DSW, for the low price of $36.49 (originally $92).  I also really like the Dollhouse Polic, a black gladiator heel that’s priced at $27.49 (originally $70).  You can get another 10% off with coupon code POWEROFPINK (exp. 10/31), which also requires a $1 or more donation to benefit breast cancer research.  Sale ends 10/21/09.

25% off BCBGeneration Nice & more at Lord & Taylor

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

Lord & Taylor came out with coupon code FRIENDS today that takes 25% off any purchase, including their selection of women’s shoes.  There are plenty of pairs you can choose from, but I had to notice this colorful and fun BCBGeneration Nice in multicolored snake.  It’s already on sale for $69.99 (originally $89), but the coupon knocks $17.50 off and brings it to $52.49.  Of note, the coupon does have exclusions and it doesn’t combine with the Buy More, Save More boot sale.  Expiration: 10/25/09

Sale Spotlight: 30% off select shoes at Bloomingdales

Monday, October 19th, 2009

Bloomingdales is having a Fall Markdowns Sale that takes 30% off select items, including a selection of designer shoes.  There’s over 40 pairs from names like Elizabeth and James, L.A.M.B., Pollini, Corso Como, Marc by Marc Jacobs and more.  A 30% discount takes a pretty hefty chunk off the price tag for shoes in this price range, so I thought I’d turn my handy spotlight on and highlight a few of the deals:

L.A.M.B. Rae Floret Pump for $227.50, discounted $97.50 from the original $325 price

L.A.M.B. Randi Ruffle Peeptoe Pump for $241.50 , discounted $103.50 from the original $345 price

Reality Show Shoe-cap: Shoes from Erin on The City & The Rachel Zoe Project

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

Today, I thought we’d talk about some shoes seen recently on reality TV.  This past week marked the end of The Rachel Zoe Project (tear) and we saw two shoes worn by Rachel and Taylor in the finale (including the pair Rachel dubbed her tranny shoes).  But first, we have more shoes from The City season 2.  We’ve covered the footwear choices of Whitney Port, but now we must talk about Erin.  Erin, who is new to the show, is the Director of PR at Elle (the youngest one ever) and she seems to be quite the power player, ready to whip new accessories editor Olivia into submission and show her who’s boss.  Although Whitney never quite put Olivia in her place during the first season, Erin certainly intends to - especially in these shoes:

When Erin debuts on the show, the first thing we notice is her feet - in these amazing Christian Louboutin Very Prive studded peep toe heels (seen on Polyvore).  Yes, nothing says “She Who Must Be Obeyed” like a heel with little spikes all over it.  I don’t see this pair available for sale anywhere, but the similar Christian Louboutin Pigalle stud pump is at luisaviaroma for $1,097.70 (limited sizes) or at net-a-porter for $995.  For lower-priced alternatives, try these:

Dolce Vita Trinity, a shoe definitely on my love list right now, for $210 at Saks Fifth Avenue.  Get 25% off using coupon code FRIENDS2 until 10/18/09, making them $157.50.  Also available at Bloomingdales for $210.

Lovely People Aziza stud platform peep toe pump for $69.99 at Smartbargains.  It looks like you get an extra 10% off and free shipping at checkout too.

Rock & Republic Nika for $279 at Zappos.

If you’re digging the pair Erin wears in the MTV promo pic above, it’s the Report Signature Masonic, found at Amazon for $134.95 or $188.99 depending on the size selected.  Also available at Endless for $137.47 in very limited sizes, at Bluefly for $149.99 or at Heels.com for $224.09.  Update: You can also get this same style at QVC for $125.

Looking to spend less on this look?  Try the ALDO Smeal for $89.98 with free shipping at Amazon.

Or, substitute chains for studs with this drool-worthy Jeffrey Campbell Posh-2 chain platform for $164.95 at Solestruck.

On to The Rachel Zoe Project: In the season finale, Rachel rocks this two-tone Louis Vuitton platform wedge in gold and black from the fall 2008 RTW collection (seen on Style.com).  She also wore an all-black version earlier in the season.  I love these on her and, although Bebe made this France platform wedge clearly inspired by this shoe, they are now sold out and I couldn’t find anything else that closely resembles this unique pair.  However, an extra-tall and funky platform should fit the bill, capturing a similar look without imitating the exact style.  Try these:

Jeffrey Campbell Tryst for $109.95 with free shipping at Solestruck.

Cool, Casual by Slow and Steady Wins the Race at Urban Outfitters for $88.  Coupon code BIGMOUTH takes an additional 10% off until 10/26/09.

Deena and Ozzy Mary Jane Wedge for $49.99 at Urban Outfitters.  Use coupon code listed above for 10% off.

BCBGirls Ris Wedge for $60.47 with free shipping from Endless.

Marley Crisscross Wedge for $99.95 at Free People.

Update: Here’s another pair called the Sam Edelman Zoe for $350 at Urban Outfitters.  Was it inspired by Rachel herself (hence the name)?  Maybe so!

Finally, there’s Taylor.  On the finale, Taylor proves the squeaky wheel gets the grease a promotion from styling associate to head of product development.  She also wears some suede boots during a trip to QVC headquarters with Rach that looked a lot like this Christian Louboutin ankle boot.  Here are some more affordable suede boots to check out:

Nine West Zenon for $119 at Nine West.  Apply coupon code NWFRND6 to get 30% off until 10/18/09.

Nine West Ignatious for $109 at Macy’s.  Get free shipping on $99 or more using coupon code FAVEFIND at checkout until 10/22/09.

Lumiani Regine for $145 with free shipping at Zappos.

Cute GoJane Rosette Boots for $37.50

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

I came across these peep toe Rosette Boots at GoJane and thought they were super-cute.  What makes them all the better is their low $37.50 price.  I really like the cognac version, but they also come in black.  If you add another pair of shoes at least $12.50 to your order (to make your total over $50), you’ll get free shipping by applying coupon code GJSHIP50 during checkout.  I’d much rather have another pair of shoes than pay for shipping any day and there are plenty of inexpensive ones to choose from in the sale section.  Coupon expiration is unknown.

30% off full-priced shoes & 20% off sale at Nine West

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Nine West is having a Friends and Family Sale, which takes 30% off your order when you apply coupon code NWFRND6 at checkout.  The code applies to full-priced items, but it’ll also take 20% off sale items.  Plus, shipping is free.  I like the Nine West Elkie in copper reptile (pictured), which is $62.30 after discount and available for pre-order.  For a sale item, I’d pick the Nine West Ketu for $47.99.  Coupon expires 10/18/09.

More or Less: Gucci Babouska Look-Alikes

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

GucciThe Gucci Babouska, which was worn by Whitney Port on The City, is definitely a hot style.  So hot, in fact, that I couldn’t find the sandal version for sale anywhere at the time of my Whitney Port post, so it appeared to be a sold-out style.  However, it is available for sale at Bluefly.  The sandal is $995 and the ankle boot is $796, although only a couple sizes are left for each.  So, let’s face it, the limited availability and rock-star price tag hinder most of us from trying these out.

Enter Babouska look-alikes to save the day.  If the Babouska sandal and the Babouska ankle boot were to magically combine and instantly become more economical, the result would be this Colin Stuart Strappy Studded Sandal.  It’s available from Victoria’s Secret for $98 and, if your order is over $100, use coupon code FREE100 to get free shipping until 10/20/09.  Update: New Victoria’s Secret code SAVE20 takes 20% off one item until 10/18/09.  That makes this pair $78.40 instead.

Other Babouska look-alikes include this studded cage platform at Charlotte Russe for $34.99 and the criss cross stud platform heel at GoJane for $25.
