It was announced this month that pop star Britney Spears will be the 2009 spokesperson for Candies shoes, which are sold exclusively at Kohls.  This is Britney’s first apparel endorsement deal and she follows recent spokesperson Hayden Panetierre and other celebs like Jenny McCarthy, Hilary Duff and Fergie in promoting the trendy juniors shoe brand.  Britney will appear in a series of ads with promotions that tie in with her current Circus tour, which Candies and Kohls help sponsor. 

Britney does seem like a bit of a departure for Candies, who hasn’t shyed away from controversy before (remember those ads with Jenny McCarthy sitting on the toilet?) but seemed to be portraying a more good girl vibe as of late.  However, Britney is trying to clean up her image herself and she’s a mega-star whose every move is followed with great interest, so she’ll likely provide a nice boost for the brand.  I, for one, will definitely be keeping my eye out for hot new Candies styles at Kohls.
